Qur'an Ii.62
#21

Bismillah

reepi i am not sure if u r after argument or what exactly. But for the sake of Allah.

The brief and short explanation is:

whoever among those categories, including jehovas, mormons, etc. I think to the best of my knowledge Jehova's believe that Jehova is god, which makes them certainly non belivers. But any one of them, who returns back to Allah, believes in Allah the way Allah Commanded in His book, the Holy Quran, believes in the Day After, in other words, becomes Muslim shall be saved Insh a Allah.

I think this is direct and clear enough.

Muslimah: earlier, you stated quite clearly that the reason Jews don't go to heaven is because they worship Ezra.

We have now determined that it was only a tiny minority of Jews, a thousand years ago, who worshiped Ezra. I assume you agree, then, that modern day Jews will go to heaven, so long as they believe in God, believe in the Last Day, and do good works?

If you don't agree with this, then why not? Why don't Jews who meet the criteria outlined in Surah 2:62 go to heaven?

Why take one verse when there's a whole Book?

It has been posted but once again:

(And whoever seeks religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers) (3:85).

There was a progression in the Qur'an being revealed. (I am sure this is known.) Allah is All-Wise and Knows that people need to change slowly for it to be easy for us humans. If the first verses from Allah were the ones prohibiting pork and alcohol, would people take interest in the Prophet's Message? Is this the most important part? No.

As muslims, all of our actions spring from our belief in Tawheed (the Oneness of Allah). At the time of the verse in question's revelation, muslims, jews and, christians were all in agreement on the point of monotheism. As Islam matured, Allah revealed to His people what it was He wanted us to exactly do now that we believed. [An "I love you" is hollow without actions to support it. Obviously from the past, when men are left to their own devices when concocting religions and their worship rituals, they get quite astray. Through the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, Allah has given mankind specific instructions on how to please Him, how to attain success in the afterlife, and how to be the best of people in this life.] Since muslims then had their specific instructions on how to be followers of Islam, anyone who did not follow this guidance would no longer be acceptable to Allah. Therefore, this verse was revealed: "And whoever seeks religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers (3:85). The window of opportunity for other faiths is closed. Sorry.

This has been an issue that I have had to deal with as a convert. The majority of people who are in my life are not muslims. Alhamdulillah, this life is in accordance with Allah's Will and not mine.

I hoped that I have helped clear up things and not made them worse. Astaghfirullah.

Dan, you seem to be providing an explanation of Surah 2:62 which is totally different from the explanation other posters have provided. To summarize your claim:

- surah 2:62 was revealed first

- surah 3:85 was revealed second

- since 3:85 contradicts 2:62, 2:62 is abrogated by 3:85

- any Jews, Christians, and Sabians who died prior to the date surah 3:85 was revealed are now in heaven (assuming they believe in the Final Judgement and did good works).

Is that an accurate summary of your interpretation of Surah 2:62?

Reepicdeep ask

"Q1: Modern day Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses do not consider Jesus to be God. Does the above verse, then, apply to them? Will Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses who believe in God and the Last Day, and who do good works, be saved?

Q2: Lets assume, for the sake of argument, that at one time there was a tiny group of Jews in Yemen who worshiped Ezra. Obviously, they were just a tiny minority of the Jews, and no Jews today still follow this belief. Do Muslims believe, then, that all Jews who don't worship Ezra, who believe in God and the Last Day, and who do good works will be saved?"

I think Yes,this verse will apply to them if they did'nt hear any thing about Islam and for jews it will be apply to them if they did'nt hear any thing about christianty and Islam,or if they embraced Isalm and keeping doing good works before death.

Hoping God guidance for all people.
