The Slavery In History

One may say that slavery is as old as prostitution. Though prostitution had been cursed by most of the world religions (though looked the other way by most of them) – Slavery had never been <b>Banned</b>, though <b>Controlled</b> by Islam.


However, world history tells us that no other ethnic group has practiced and benefited from slavery more than the White race – Right from the Greek to the present-day Europe and America. Only a century ago, it was still practiced in the US, though officially banned after the US Civil War. During the 16th to 19th centuries, almost 100 millions Black Africans alone became the victims of western slave trade.


The European slave traders were both Christians and Jews – But who benefited the most from this <b>EVIL</b>? Let an Austrian Jewish theologian Rabbi Arnold Aharon, Wiznitzer, PhD, be the judge of that:


<b>The West India Company, which monopolized imports of slaves from Africa, sold slaves at public auctions against cash payment. It happened that cash was mostly in the hands of Jews. The buyers who appeared at the auctions were almost always Jews, and because of this lack of competitors they could buy slaves at low prices. On the other hand, there also was no competition in the selling of the slaves to the plantation owners and other buyers, and most of them purchased on credit payable at the next harvest in sugar. Profits up to 300 percent of the purchase value were often realized with high interest rates....If it happened that the date of such an auction fell on a Jewish holiday the auction had to be postponed. This occurred on Friday, October 21, 1644.</b>

Slavery wasn't abolished in Saudi Arabia until the 1960s, and only because of pressure exerted by President Kennedy. If Saudi Arabia didn't have a need to sell oil to the west, I'm sure slavery would still be legal there.

Amnesty criticizes Israel over trade in women

In a report to be published today by Amnesty International, the human-rights organization is scathing in its comments on Israeli authorities' responsibility for the local proliferation of the phenomenon of "traded women," in which women from abroad are lured to Israel under false pretenses and then enslaved as prostitutes in brothels.


"The traded women come in contact with many Israeli government agencies, but there seems to be no clear policy in fighting these violations of human rights," Amnesty noted in its report.


The report, the product of a special investigation conducted last spring, adds, "The government of Israel failed to take appropriate steps to prevent, investigate, try and punish those responsible for the violations of human rights commited against traded women."


The report marks the first time that Amnesty International has turned its investigative eye toward "trade" in women. Israel was chosen as the group's first case study. Hundreds of women are smuggled into Israel annually, most from the former Soviet Union. The presence of a large community of immigrants from those countries facilitates their illicit entry and stay in Israel.


The case of "Valentina," 27, is a typical one. She was offered a job as a company representative by an Israeli who made all the necessary arrangements. He received her at the airport and the next day took her passport, money and return ticket and transferred her to an apartment - where she realized that she had been brought to Israel to work as a prostitute.


"The conditions were horrible," she says. "Most of the girls suffered from venereal diseases. There was nowhere to run - there were bars on the windows and guards all the time, day and night." Eventually she jumped from the first floor of the building in order to escape.
