Phone Cards In Middle East
#1

Assalamu alaikum everyone,

I just have a quick question. My brother is in the army and he will be stationed in Iraq starting December 15. He asked me to find him a phone card that he can use to call us from there.

Does anyone know where I can get a phone card that can be used to make calls FROM Iraq TO the U.S.? I can only find them for the other way around. Also, any idea of what the rates would be?

JazakAllah khair [Image: smile.gif]

An American freind of mine was here in Egypt last year and she used those, I will check with her and get back to u Insh a Allah. How is he feeling btw going to Iraq. La hawala wala qowata ila billah.

But also in all cases for ex here in Egypt we have pre paid phone cards (local ones) that u may use for international calls for reasonable prices, not sure about Iraq.

Sister, I know some Sisters who are Kurdish-iraqy, they stay in touch with their family back in iraq by phone, Their family also call them from there. So I'm going to ask them about it, inshaAllah.

How does it feel like having your brother in Iraq Sister?

Assalamu alaikum everyone,

JazakAllah khair Muslimah and Intution for looking for me. My family and I will have no problem calling him in Iraq if he has a phone number there inshaAllah, but we are more concerned with him being able to call us, as we will not know his schedule while he is there.

Alhamdulillah, he is going... there's not much I can say. He is a very good and kind man, mashaAllah and I hope he will not get caught up in anything bad inshaAllah. I don't know exactly what he will be doing there, but I think he will be stationed at Sadam's palace.

He has wanted to join the army for a long time, so he is happy to be in the army. And he is excited to travel, I know that, but I'm not sure what he thinks about going to Iraq. I don't think he minds so much, except that he has to be gone for 1 straight year before we see him again. I don't really like the idea of him going to Iraq and I'm so worried about him, but I know it is in Allah's hands. He is not a muslim, I am the only muslim in my family, so I am hoping at least he will see some good example of Islam while he is there inshaAllah, and he should be kind to the muslim people there because he has a sister who is muslim [Image: rolleyes.gif]

Anyway, I will be happy to find out how to get him some phone cards. Do you think he would be able to buy them in Iraq? Can he use American currency there? Or a bank card? I know my friend uses her American bank card in Kuwait with no problem, so I wonder if it's the same in Iraq.

JazakAllah khair sisters

Laian my freind replied and told me that her parents took care of this, they got the cards from AT&T. As she said u can get them from the phone company u r subscribed with.

May Allah Makes his trip a cause to see Islam. Laian many US soldiers who fought the operation desert storm back in 1991 embraced Islam. Allah actually takes people from one place to another for many purposes of them of course to meet and know others.

O Laian I just recalled while typing this that my uncle used to purchase phone cards before coming over to visit. He was a US Sprint client. He bought them with the company. So just check with the phone company..... [Image: smile.gif]
