What We Should Do
#1

Nowadays, especially in non muslim countries, muslims are suffering from some form of racial/religious abuse. In the UK, it is rife in the media, muslims need to make themselves visible and write to their MP's, the media, to stop this type of abuse. They are fuelling public animosity against us.

The police are targeting muslims, the other day they broke into a house at 4am in Manchester handcuffed a 14 year old boy to the radiator, frightened a 55 year old disabled woman and took a young male to the station. They have been doing this throughout the UK and the ironic fact is no one has been charged. But they don't add this in the media, just "muslims arrested".

We need to be more vigilant like the Jewish people, who have been successful in the past by writing be it petitions, complaints to the relvant people/orgs, we should do the same. We should protect ourselves. I am aware some organisations are doing this, but I also think individuals should get together and do the same. They will have to do something at some point. If we don't act it will get alot worse.

Wassalaam,

This entire life is a test. We should be grateful we are being tested otherwise we should question our imaan.

The Believers are tested so that it may be known Who is Sincere and Who is Lying

(Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe,'' and will not be tested.) This is a rebuke in the form of a question, meaning that Allah will inevitably test His believing servants according to their level of faith, as it recorded in the authentic Hadith:

«أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ بَلَاءً الْأَنْبِيَاءُ، ثُمَّ الصَّالِحُونَ، ثُمَّ الْأَمْثَلُ فَالْأَمْثَلُ، يُبْتَلَى الرَّجُلُ عَلَى حَسَبِ دِينِهِ، فَإِنْ كَانَ فِي دِينِهِ صَلَابَةٌ زِيدَ لَهُ فِي الْبَلَاء»

(The people most severly tested are the Prophets, then the righteous, then the next best and the next best. A man will be tested in accordance with the degree of his religious commitment; the stonger his religious commitment, the stronger his test.) This Ayah is like the Ayah,

(Do you think that you will enter Paradise without Allah knowing those of you who fought (in His cause) and knowing those who are the patient) (3:142) There is a similar Ayah in Surat At-Tawbah. And Allah says:

(Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the help of Allah'' Yes! Certainly, the help of Allah is near!) (2:214) Allah says here:

(And We indeed tested those who were before them so that Allah will know those who are true, and will know those who are liars.) meaning, He will make know which are sincere in their claim to be believers from those who are lying. Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, knows what has happened in the past and what is yet to come, and He knows how that which will not happen would have happened if it were to happen. All the Imams of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama`ah are agreed on this. This is the view of Ibn `Abbas and others concerning phrases such as the Ayah,

(only that We know) (2:143). Meaning, only to see -- because seeing has to do with what is there, but knowledge is broader than seeing, since it includes what is not present as well as what is.

To say that we should improve ourselves and then Allah will lift the test is not fully true. This is because Rasool (saw) was the best of example sent to mankind and he was tested along with his companions.

I agree that we are in this situation due to our inability or lack of urgency to do our duties correctly i.e. halal and haram, taqwa etc.

Assalamu'alaykum....

i'm totally agreed. sometimes we tend to forget that we have left Islam far behind. we're living the wrong way of life, yet we claim to be the believers. if we go back to the fundamentals of Islam, we'll find the answers for sure. let's look back into the history, where Muslims started as a minor group of lower classes citizens, the poors and the slaves, yet the triumphed against the Quraish, Masya Allah, where's the spirit now?

we put boundaries among ourselves, we commit to racism, nationalism and so on. What happen? where's the Ukhuwwah Islamiyyah? united we strong, divided we fall.

Brother Deen what u mentioned is of course correct that tests and trials are to be inflicted upon people according to the level of their religion. This is one side, but we can not ignore that they are also inflicted to expiate our sins.

Dont u see the Aya saying:

"And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much." (Quran 42:30)

Allah Sobhanhu wa Ta`la expiates our sins thru various ways. The Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam said in a hadeeth what means that even a prick of a needle is an expiation of sins. A prick of a needle that causes the lowest level of pain. Therefore, whatever we endure of suffering expiates our sins brother. It serves as reminder as an alarm from Allah for us to look into ourselves. Just look at Auhud, why did the Muslims loose? because they disobeyed the Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam. Of course Allah Is testing the Ummah, I remember hearing Ali Ezzat Begovitch (execuse me if the spelling is wrong) saying at the time of the Bosinain issue, we were only Muslims by name now we recalled and revived our Islam.

Welcome to the board. I'm not looking forward to the day that a certain member criticizes you for drawing any sort of paralell between Muslims and Jews. But never the less, welcome and I believe your post was right on. Cheers!
