Hi Ronniv93,

Can I take a step backwards? It seems you got many good references from my sisters and brothers to look into, so I will not add any for now. I just hope you will take them as good sites to look into. To find sense in your search.

So if I may return with that step to your first question - Why convert?

Because in Islam you will find the 5 basic pillars to live by and practice that makes sense to your life. And these are only the beginning of the journey of life.

Allah, SWT is ONE UNITY in Islam, not difficult to understand. One to pray to and worship. It makes sense to pray and worship Only One God. If you are a monotheist.

To acknowledge ALL His prophets, and not exlude none of them. That makes sense since they were all sent from Him to forward His Message to different nations on this earth. To turn one down is to turn all of them down. Islam does not turn the back to any of them.

To be given knowledge of HOW and WHEN and in WHAT WAY to pray, makes sense. It makes you take RESPONSIBILITY.

To pay the charity tax every year that helps people in need to receive some help from their fellow human beings, that makes a lot of sense. That also means you take RESPONSIBILITY.

To fast during Ramadaan is due to the wish of Allah, SWT. All the previous prophet's have also forwarded the obligation to fast, but Islam made it more easier, since it is allowed to drink, eat and have intimate moments with your husband/wife after the sun has gone to sleep for the night and before it arises again the next morning. Guidelines makes sense.

To go on Pilgrimage once in a lifetime, to gather with all other believers from all over the world to join in a manifest to His honour. And to remeber the MERCY that He has bestowed on us, His creations. To fulfill this makes a lot of sense.

So therefore we Muslims feel chosen and called for since He inspires our hearts to use our common sense and then it is easy to understanding His Message to us with logic. We follow His Will with an easy heart and mind and soul. He leads us through this life in the best possible way.

as salam alykom Umm Zachria

she was looking for the reason that leaded a christian to revert, that is why at my very first reply I referred her to a pinned thread by Radiay containing revert stories. I also gave her a number of reasons as I saw. May be u can give her your own experience.

O ronniv I remembered another reason for two people to revert.

They didnt accept the too much decoration in the church. They also could not accept paying too much money for the extravagance decoration. I know protestant churches are totally different. I also know u dont place statues of either Jesus or Mary. But those were catholics.

Assalamu aleikum sister Muslimah,

Hope Ramadaan is going well for you. The first day for me contained a lot of tears and emotions - this is the MONTH that the Qur'an first began to be revealed to our beloved Prophet Muhammad, SAWS and that is so OVERWELMING. What a gift He bestowed on us. Alhamdulillah that He wanted to give us His Guidance.

Now that I have written that, I don't really think that I can say so very much to our guest Ronniv, we have provided her with very much info. I doubt that my story would make things clearer. The conversionstories that can be read are touching and covers a lot of different angles of why people left what they believed in and how they have been guided to Islam as the final belief in life.

But a few lines I can share. I was in the state that I could not believe in the Christian belief due to that God is both himself and also someone else. NO WAY could a PERSON have created this Universe. That my common sense told me was abolute out of the question. And since the only 'available' faith at that time for me was Christianity, I could not follow it, so I lived without faith for decades. Until one day I did wake up. A woman asked me if I believed in God - what a question to ask I thought - I was almost speachless, and tried to answer her with yes, no and I don't know (astarghfirullah). Now this kind of answer is not acceptable at all of course, and I realised it when I had said it.

From that moment my 'search for God' started. And you like all the brothers and sisters know why I ended up a Muslim. I had to go back to find my fitrah that I lost so long ago. There was no other way. And I feel Allah, SWT, spared me all that 'faith-less' time to be involved in Christianity, He had chosen something better for me. When I was ready for it. When my heart had catched up and understood the truth, His truth.

Wasalam your sister

[Image: smile.gif] Hi Ronnie,

I'm Jennifer, I was raised as a Catholic, and reverted to Islam about three years ago. I can only answer your question about why would a Christian revert based on my own experiance.

God has sent Prophets to humankind to teach us. Of course a Christian knows about Abraham and Moses, and many other Prophets, ending with Jesus. But Christians do not know the final Prophet Muhammad(saw), who God sent to all of mankind as a mercy.

Islam gave me was the chance to know the last and final Messenger. I'm really thankful for that chance.

Take care.

Quote:And for your information, I have read the Quran. I found it very hard to follow because there was no logical organization to it; just jumped from one topic to another.

Hi ronniv how are u. Well I totally disagree with u and this is not true, it has a very logical and beutiful organization, and each verse is connected with the other, the problem is that u u c what is in the surface, the Quran is not a blunt plain book, it is words of Allah, so to understand them there must be translations and explanations for his words, each Surat has its own purpose and reason, and what it seems jumping from one topic to another is really the contrary it is in the same topic, u just need to learn more and more, here where comes the sciences of the Quran as I said before, from the Quran u can derive many sciences, the most important is the science of the Ahadeeth of the prophet which translates the ayas and verses of the Quran. The Quran containes short and right to the point. One verse and this is considered to be the longest verse in the Quran talks about debt and trade rules, then followed by a shorter one:

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem:

282. O you who believe! When you contract a debt for a fixed period, write it down. Let a scribe write it down in justice between you. Let not the scribe refuse to write as Allâh has taught him, so let him write. Let him (the debtor) who incurs the liability dictate, and he must fear Allâh, his Lord, and diminish not anything of what he owes. But if the debtor is of poor understanding, or weak, or is unable himself to dictate, then let his guardian dictate in justice. And get two witnesses out of your own men. And if there are not two men (available), then a man and two women, such as you agree for witnesses, so that if one of them (two women) errs, the other can remind her. And the witnesses should not refuse when they are called on (for evidence). You should not become weary to write it (your contract), whether it be small or big, for its fixed term, that is more just with Allâh; more solid as evidence, and more convenient to prevent doubts among yourselves, save when it is a present trade which you carry out on the spot among yourselves, then there is no sin on you if you do not write it down. But take witnesses whenever you make a commercial contract. Let neither scribe nor witness suffer any harm, but if you do (such harm), it would be wickedness in you. So be afraid of Allâh; and Allâh teaches you. And Allâh is the All-Knower of each and everything.

283. And if you are on a journey and cannot find a scribe, then let there be a pledge taken (mortgaging); then if one of you entrust the other, let the one who is entrusted discharge his trust (faithfully), and let him be afraid of Allâh, his Lord. And conceal not the evidence for he, who hides it, surely his heart is sinful. And Allâh is All-Knower of what you do. 2, Al-Baqara

A whole entegrated science of law in one long verse, who can do that? just look at the various laws of each country how many books on such a topic, while in The Quran it is in one single aya.

and also the money inheritance law look at the aya below:

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem:

11. Allâh commands you as regards your children's (inheritance); to the male, a portion equal to that of two females; if (there are) only daughters, two or more, their share is two thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is half. For parents, a sixth share of inheritance to each if the deceased left children; if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased left brothers or (sisters), the mother has a sixth. (The distribution in all cases is) after the payment of legacies he may have bequeathed or debts. You know not which of them, whether your parents or your children, are nearest to you in benefit, (these fixed shares) are ordained by Allâh. And Allâh is Ever AllKnower, AllWise.

12. In that which your wives leave, your share is a half if they have no child; but if they leave a child, you get a fourth of that which they leave after payment of legacies that they may have bequeathed or debts. In that which you leave, their (your wives) share is a fourth if you leave no child; but if you leave a child, they get an eighth of that which you leave after payment of legacies that you may have bequeathed or debts. If the man or woman whose inheritance is in question has left neither ascendants nor descendants, but has left a brother or a sister, each one of the two gets a sixth; but if more than two, they share in a third; after payment of lagacies he (or she) may have bequeathed or debts, so that no loss is caused (to anyone). This is a Commandment from Allâh; and Allâh is Ever AllKnowing, MostForbearing.

13. These are the limits (set by) Allâh (or ordainments as regards laws of inheritance), and whosoever obeys Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad ) will be admitted to Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise), to abide therein, and that will be the great success. 4, Al-Nisa'a

Again 3 verses which contain a whole science, tell me of one man or even a league or confideration that can produce a whole law within one or 2 pages. no one ronni but Our Creator.

then another thing if u read any book, the author will tell u at the begining " excuse me if there is any mistakes or faults in the book, sorry for any inconvinience, we look forward to rectify", and the man made laws, is always changing and rectified, and every book is changed and rectified except The Quran, never changed and it starts with :

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem:

2. This is the Book (the Qur'ân), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqûn [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allâh much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allâh much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)].
2, Al-Baqara

It says no doubt, never does it say in any verse sorry for inconvinience, sorry for lack of information, or sorry for anything. No doubt. I hope this will let u stop a bit and think, and to understand the Quran and that verses are related to each other u must study it thoroughly the Quran is not just a book to read or a novel that u read while u r going to bed, it is a way of life it is the word of Allah, so u must dig deep down in the core of things to understand it.

And beleive me ronni no1 is arrogant here, this is just self-confidence and not arrogancy, we are sure we are right we have no doubt that Allah is one, never had a wife neither did he have a son, neither did he need to come down to earth.

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem:

171. O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allâh aught but the truth. The Messiah 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), was (no more than) a Messenger of Allâh and His Word, ("Be!" - and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Rûh) created by Him; so believe in Allâh and His Messengers. Say not: "Three (trinity)!" Cease! (it is) better for you. For Allâh is (the only) One Ilâh (God), Glory be to Him (Far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allâh is AllSufficient as a Disposer of affairs.

So just again I ask u have another stop and look deep inside, and not just what u c on surface ronniv. May Allah enlighten your heart [Image: smile.gif]

Peace

Okay, I've spent some time reading through links, posts, etc., etc.

Let me ask this question, something I've never quite understood... Well, actually 2 questions.

1. Why did God speak directly to seemingly every other prophet, but then Muhammad, who was supposed to be the last, final and greatest prophet, only had an angel speak to him? Why the change?

2. Why haven't I seen a place in the Quran or a quotation from Muhammad that says the previous revelations were corrupted? The Quran seems to say that there is "guidance" in the Torah and Gospel; why doesn't it also say that they have been corrupted? Or why isn't this stated in a hadith? I would think that that was pretty critical information to convey to people.

Bismillah

I can give you number one and let others answer the other due to my time constraint. I hope that's okay. [Image: smile.gif]

Moses was the only prophet that I know of who actually got to talk personally to Allah. Others communicated with Allah via the angel Gabriel. I know that the prophet Joseph recieved his revelations via dreams. Hope that helps.
