Quote: European muslims are different. There is not pressure for us to do this here. Do you women feel pressured to cover up? Do you even have a choice? Is Bosnia or Serbia or Turkey, we are proud of our religion but we are modern in our dress too. When I visit the rest of Europe and I tell them I am a muslim, they judge me. If all muslims were understanding like the one in Europe our religion would have such a better repuation.
Thanks,

Djana

I beg ur pardon !

I certianly DON'T feel opressed or inferiority by ewarinf a Hijab. Infact, my parents are cool about me wearing a modest dress (that doesn't include a Hijab) but i voluntarily wear a hojab. It makes me proud of who iam, and makes me proud that iam a MUSLIM. I am certian that u also Know HOW inportant it is to wear a hijab in Islam, therefore, if ur a good Muslim, u'll not complian.

I think the ones hwo wear short clothes & cheap dresses are the ones opressed by the society...who wants to look like a CERTIAN thing......i.e. as a 'pleasure' thing to look at. With hijab is lies our honour & respect ! [Image: smile.gif]

[Image: smile.gif] all the sisters who wear a hijab are doing masha allah a great job....i feel happy about them [Image: smile.gif]

That is soo true they call our women "oppressed
" but how can one who is a slave to fashion called a such a beautiful free muslimah oppressed..

i hope u like this quote. a really good friend of mine from http://www.youthofislam.com quoted it from an unknown source

Quote:“A Muslim woman who covers her head is making a statement about her identity. Anyone who sees her will know that she is a Muslim and has a good moral character. Many Muslim women who cover are filled with dignity and self esteem; they are pleased to be identified as a Muslim woman. As a chaste, modest, pure woman, she does not want her sexuality to enter into interactions with men in the smallest degree. A woman who covers herself is concealing her sexuality but allowing her femininity to be brought out.”

hope u like it..

Asalamalaykum

<b>And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not show off their beauty and ornaments except what is (ordinarily) visible thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards God, that ye may attain Bliss. </b>

Surah 24 Verse 31

<b>O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. </b>

Surah 33 Verse 59

Yes you are very right hair is a sign of beauty. Depending on most cultural contexts, Hair is considered almost 50% of a woman’s beauty, and so is everything else that Allah ordered us to cover from everyone else except the persons described in the verses, (Including the Husbands and close family members etc). The term hijab means more than just covering the hair and refers to the general code of modesty outlined in the verses quoted above.

To understand what is implied in these verses, consider what is it that women do to show off their beauty? What is it that they make a display of to be sexually attractive? To be sure that you are not showing off your beauty as a woman you should cover up these areas appropriately. So that’s the whole point, a womans Hair and body is covered because it’s beautiful and not for lustful eyes to be gazed upon. Allah says in the Quraan to cover our <b>"beauty" </b> see? Islam aknowledges the fact that a womans hair is a sign of beauty and everything else in between too, but it teaches us to respect our beauty and to keep it hidden, to treasure & cherish it with utmost care and deep respect. If you really want to know what the result is of a Disrespected and not valued beauty just have a look at what happens to women who display their beauties in all the wrong places.

oh oh,

Shameem on a second thought, I think maybe I misunderstood you. I thought you were saying that women should uncover their hair because Hair is beautiful, but did you actually mean the opposite? I guess so!

True Shameem very true. It is just that the western ideas got into Muslim societies so much that some people would say o covering the head is a cover to the brain

Alhamdulelah we have our head covered
