wa alykom as salam

Mash a Allah, ok as for zakah, u r ordained to give out 2.5% of the money u had and not used for one full year.

I am trying to be brief and to the point.

ex.

U sold a car for $ 5000 on Rajab 1424.

U spent over a year (for whatever reasons), $ 2000.

By Rajab 1425, u had only $ 3000.

U must pay 2.5% of this 3000.

if u dont have this situation, meaning money saved not used for one full year, u r not obliged to pay zakah (the fard). HOwever of course u r obliged to give out sadakah (which is of course money for charity as well but voluntray). It is not specified with a certain amount, u may give whatever u can at any time.

In your case, if u save money from your salary till next year then u pay for this money. However, still let me re check about a monthly salary if u r obliged for zakah on a monthly basis. Mash a Allah may Allah bless u son. [Image: smile.gif]

Only Zakah the fard is specified according to what is mentioned above.

Still u r commanded to pay zakat fitr, as Ramadan is approaching, every muslim is obliged to pay out zakat fitr before Eid prayer. In other words, u may even give it our after the first day of Ramadan.

The purpose of this Zakah, is to:

Make up for any mistakes done during fasting.

Chear up the poor.

The amount is given in grain form: like a cup of grain, rice, barely..etc.

Hope I helped Insh a Allah

ok so in ur example with the car..

if i pay the 2.5% on this $3000 for this year.. and next year it is still saved.. do i have to pay on it again... or not.

Sure it is on annual basis, whatever amount is saved every year, see the whole point of zakat which in Arabic means to purify, is to purify your money.

So yes every year naseeha [Image: smile.gif] Insh a Allah

ok here u go, more clear example Insh a Allah:

By Ramadan of 1425 U have 2000 $ saved from any source.

By Ramadan 1426 u only have $ 1500 left.

2.5% is required to be given out of this $ 1500.

By Ramadan 1426 Allah Sent u more and now you have 2500 $.

2.5% out of the 2500 $ is to be given out

Or

By Ramadan 1426 u only had $ 1000

Out of the $ 1000 2.5% is still required to be out.

and so on

As for your monthly salary. U r only obliged to give out in case u managed to save an amount that was not used for one whole year out of this salary.

So in other words, unless u have money saved that u dont use for one whole year u r not obliged for Zaka the fard. however of course u r encouraged to give sadaqa which have many merits firs of which it distinguishes the anger of Allah. [Image: smile.gif]
