One American's View.
#1

So I turn on the tv last night and there's this documentary on 3 seperate children growing up in Palestine. A really day to day inside look that you can't get on the news. It was the next best thing to actually visiting there in person.

I found myself feeling much like I did before 9/11. I really felt for these people. I really hurt for the children and their families. As I watched their homes get torn down, family members killed, friends killed, raids in the middle of the night, and often poor living conditions I easily understood how these people could feel so angry. When an Israeli tank shot one of the people on the film crew who was waving a white flag to say they were just journalist I realized how trigger happy these Israeli's were and the pain these people are going through. As an American, who like many other's, isn't a supporter of all Israel and a lot of what they do I was wondering why can't these people just be left alone to live in peace?

Then there was the part where the militants were using the boy to help them kill other people. I watched as they celebrated a child dying and told a dead boys sister that it was wrong to cry at his funeral. The militant said he "loved Ahmed like a brother". Then he stated that "there were millions more like Ahmed". This made me wonder do these people really love this child? Are they fighting for him or using him for what they are fighting for?

After watching this I understood the Palestinian point of view. Unfortunately they think that using their children as militia and killing innocent people to reach their goal is the best way to reach their goal. They want to kill me and my family. Why should I care if they are dying? But I do because I'm a Christian and can't help it. I hate seeing their children dye and I hate seeing them lose their family members. I wish I could support them in their fight, but they won't let me.

Salam brother, sister?

You can support the Palestinians, it's not the matter of they would let you, or not, but your safety is not gauranteed. I dont mean from the Palestinians that will attack you, but the Israelis. Rachel Corrie was an American women, whom went to Palestine to help the Palestinians, but when she bravely stood infront of a bldozer to block the Israelis from demolishing a house, the buldozer ran her over. AN ISRAELI BULDOZER!!! Makes you think: are Israelis our true allies? What do you mean by they want to kill me and my family?

if we want a "fair" view, we must not take it from either side.... when the film is from an Israeli, of course it has Israeli propaganda in it...that's too obvious!!!

Quote:In The Name of God takes us inside extreme fundamentalist communities in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine, communities where western secular men and women rarely set foot.

so if western secular men and women rarely set foot there, who did these extreme fundametalists" killed? are you saying that these palestinians flew to US and and blow themselves in suicide bombing? No!!!! they killed those ILLEGAL OCCUPATIONS that ILLEGALLY TOOK AWAY their land 50 years ago... what if your country being taken away from you? and what if nobody hear your cries since UN are so blind and deaf in this issue? would you fight those occupation?

about the "ashura" festival, that wasn't a part of Islam taught by the prophet Muhammad (pbuh). I don't know why those people torture themselves to remember Imam Hussein (r.a.), so stupid.... it looks like a "thaipusam" festival to me, not an "ashura"...

but truly, from the first line of the review it shows that it is not a fair movie. sorry John, i'm not taking it.

So, if the Palestinian men and women are going to blow themselves up and kill innocent women and children, then I guess they can no longer scream human rights violations since their own citizens are guilty of them as well.

This argument of illegaly taking the land is something I'm not sure I can buy into. I know that will piss a lot of people off, but when you lose something in a war you've pretty much lost it. If you don't win the war you can't really say anything. I'm not saying that is fair. I'm saying it is what it is. There are a lot of countries that would invade and take other peoples land if they could, but since they can't they don't. Saddam is a great example. Hitler is an example of someoen using history as a reason to invade and take land. Both men tried to say well history says its our land so we're gonna take it back.

It just doesn't work that way. If you don't have the military power to defend it you may lose it. If you want it back and are willing to fight for it you're going to need the military and the allies to get it.

Again, I'm not saying that is what's fair. This isn't an argument for fair and certainly isn't an argument supporting Israel. I don't think the Koran or the Bible either have a line that says "life is fair". Plenty of references to how things will be set fair, but no line that reads everything in life is fair. I guess that's where faith comes in.

Megadeth, I have a question, why did France and UK declare war on Germany for taking over Poland? They could have told Poland tough luck. Why did America liberate Kuwait? They could have said tough luck, life is not fair. By your logic, if China takes over all of central asia, then its tough luck for lost nations. If Europe colonizes nations again it's tough luck for colonized.

hey megadeth, your not by any chance a big fan of Dream Theatre, are you?

Anyway USA is getting very powerful that they proclaim themselves the "International Police". Whenever there is a problem somewhere, they are there to help. Just an excuse for world domination......
