Bismillah

salam alll

Let me try and calm down the theme here.

In some cases, people do fall into this blanket approach. I m using this term in particular because a sister just warned me not to do so.

Evey society for a reason or the other do suffer some evil, otherwise, why Allah Created earth, us and sata? life in general is a test.

i think and this is my opinion, rather than being so busy criticising others and looking down at them, I just have to be busy on how to fight the temptation, help those around me to do so, and help those who are in my wider circle to do.

Allah in Quran say:

"O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones" (66:6)

By virtue of this Ayah, i must focus on myself, then my close household members then my wider circle of community.

Evil is surrounding us, I cannt say that for example all Gulf people are so and so, or all Egyptians are so and so, all the west are so and so. Those who dont believe in Allah arent harming anyone but themselves. Thus, I dont have to sit there and say the west is doing so and so. Yes they have their shortcomings, yes the west was involved in much aggression and invasions, but still I cannt just sit there and say all of them are so and so.

As muslims we better focus on how to improve.

To my understanding, may be the original poster puppet was aiming through this post to alret Muslims who are living in non muslim countries against being pulled into the waves. I think Curious started a thread on how Muslim immigrants to non muslim countries are looked at from their fellow nationals. I think that was the aim of the original post.

I do share the same opinion, that some of them, not all, some of them try hard to change in order to adapt. They even choose names to their children that are generic like Ramsey, Sarah, etc in order to fit in and melt into the socity.

So if u Curious and arclight are disapproving of some of the behaviour in your own community, we need to make sure such rejected issues are well underlined before our Muslim brothers and sisters for them to be aware. It is even better that u two made this open comment about rejecting such attitudes. May be a Muslim would read this and think twice before trying to melt in. May Allah Protect us all.

Muslimah, I can tell that you are a wise woman.

The fact is that, as a Christian (not just a nominal one), the things that Muslims hate about the west I also hate. Even Christians who believe as I do and embrace the Bible as the word of God are ridiculed by our media. There is a constant pressure for people here to be "open minded" even if it means forsaking your beliefs. I respect your people for clinging to what they believe is right.

I am about to be a father. My wife is 8 months along with our first child...a daughter. I can tell you right now that I'd rather have my daughter be modest and wear a covering like the Muslims than wear what some girls in America wear to the beach or while shopping! And I am not alone. A lot of my brethern agree with me...however...America is free. You are free to wear what you want to wear. Therefore, I can't make my fellow Americans share the same values that I value. I can, however, pray for them and try to influence them by my own behavior.

Translation of Sahih Bukhari

Volume 8, Book 76, Number 434: :

Narrated by Narrated by 'Uqba bin 'Amir(Radhiallaho anho):

" Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) went out and offered the funeral prayer for the martyrs of the (battle of) Uhud and then ascended the pulpit and said, "I am your predecessor and I am a witness against you. By Allah, I am now looking at my Tank-lake (Al-Kauthar) and I have been given the keys of the treasures of the earth (or the keys of the earth). By Allah! I am not afraid that after me you will worship others besides Allah, but I am afraid that you will start competing for (the pleasures of) this world."
