Is watching the World Cup a crime punishable by death,
#1

Here is another strange incident which recently occurred in the Islamic world:

Somali Islamists kill 2 at World Cup broadcast

Some excerpts from the story:

Quote:Radical Islamic militia fighters in central Somalia shot and killed two people at the screening of a banned World Cup soccer broadcast while dispersing the crowd of teenagers watching it, an independent radio station reported Wednesday.
The Islamic fighters, who have banned such entertainment, opened fire after the teenagers defied their orders to leave the cinema that was screening the Germany-Italy match, Shabelle Radio reported. It said the dead were a girl and the cinema owner.

Islamic fighters who wrested control of the Somali capital from warlords in June forbade movies and television entertainment in line with their strict interpretation of Islam.

Of course am sure you were not asking a question here but rather trying to find faults in the beautiful way of life called Islam, but you can’t find Alhamdulelah. So you went to CNN to tell you the truth. B)

Anyway, Islam is not to be judged by what individual Muslim did or what the Muslim society does.

Hope it is clear by now.

It does appear Wel Mel, that extreme right wing Muslims such as these, the Taliban, Iran etc. do hinder peoples personal freedom even when it comes to watching T.V. This is hard for Americans, Canadians or any free peoples to understand.

I know that the actions of some don't define the entire Islam peoples. There are Christians, or people who claim to be Christians rather who are evil in their own right.

There is a big problem here CC.

FREEDOM is always misunderstood. For example,

In America, there are beaches in which no one is allowed to enter but nude, It is called nude beaches, this is done “in the name of freedom”, in America, some families may approve that their daughter come on TV modeling shows, like for example “the America’s next top model” in which they will not mind if their daughters took off ALL their cloths infront of the TV cameras and infront of other people, this is also done “in the name of freedom”, in American, women who wear short or mini skirt in the street considered to be normal, yet you tell me how many girls are raped every day in America today because of these attractive cloths that they put on, this is also done “in the name of freedom” . I can still go on and list for you so many practices which are totally wrong in America, but yet it is done “in the name of freedom”.

So shortly CC, it is very hard for Eastern countries, Muslims and any modest people to understand “western freedom” which we say that if the Government of America did not stop these Evil practices, then immorality will prevail in our world (which is already happening)

Hope you got my point, I didn’t intend any offense here.

Yes I know CC... I was just trying to explain to reep that you can’t judge Islam by its followers. Islam is a rule and an order, if any Muslim does not follow those rules and order, then he is not a good Muslim.

As a side note...when somebody is raped in America it isn't done, "In the name of Freedom."

There has to be a happy medium.

Women were so protected in the Taliban regime that they weren't allowed to work and therefore many of them whose husbands had died or who didn't have male relatives were relegated to begging for food and starvation.

On the other hand, you are right, women aren't honored in my country at all and it often leads to all kinds of sin.

I more admire a Muslim country like Turkey where women are allowed to work and be members of society yet their modesty is protected than I do a country like Taliban Afghanistan.

Even in a "progressive" country like Turkey women's freedoms are limited. If a woman wants to wear a hijab, she is not allowed to wear one in gvt buildings. This woman's choice has been taken.

All in all it is a sad state of affairs. No offense to the women, but Alhamdulillah I am a man.

Peace
