Why are we always threatened?

My dearest Phat, (I am only being silly.  I hope that you do not take me for condecending... not my intention.)

I am an American, from the \"heartland\" if you will.  I made my statement playing upon his statement alluding to how Americans just do not have time to research issues and that they are so hard working, implying that other people do not work as hard.  As an American, I also feel that I can say anything that I want because it is part of living in this country.  I do not include where my home country is on my information for the exact purpose that this conversation showed.  He assumed that I was from elsewhere and got mad at my accusations thinking that I had no idea what I was talking about.

I know how it feels to be generalized from both sides of my background.  Brothers will ask me why Americans do such and such.  Americans will ask me why muslims do such and such.  I always tell them first off that I am not the representative of either Americans or Muslims.  I am me and I can give the opinions that I have.

On that note, I think that you will see that I have really yet to furnish my opinion on this topic.  I was only trying to help someone open thier eyes to the possibility that others may be right.  In past discourses with others on the board, I more than readily accept being wrong when I am provided with the information that refutes my stance.

I was frustrated with the complete lack of dialogue and responded harshly.  I probably should not have done that.  I can always ignore posts.  Allah Forgive me for my lack of patience.  I appreciate your presence on the board.  If I have not explained my comment then please let me know and I will try to clarify.

Salaam Alaikum!

I wanted to clarify something that I felt convenient to clear up. I most certainly do feel that there’s an onslaught against the Islamic world. The references are not hidden they’re obvious in academic, political and layman’s rhetoric. For instance, upon reading Daniel Pipes book “In the Path of God: Islam and Political Power” I noticed a repeating trend that is now in vogue amongst our western “scholars” on Islam. They insist that there’s nothing in Islam that is distinguishable from communism (i.e. that Islam and communism both seek to threaten and uproot western democracy). Also, that, Islam is essentially a political ideology with a focus not on transcendence but on world domination. This sort of barking is expressed in Ibn Warraq’s infamous book “Leaving Islam: Apostates Speak Out”. There, he makes repetitive comparisons between Islam and communism and how the west “should” fear Islam (communism as well). Would I say the Iraq War is about destroying Islam? No. But, certainly our political pundits, academics, etc. are making the hindsight rather clear that the ultimate enemy to western democracy is nigh and perpetual war is imperative to get rid of the Advanced Immune Deficiency of Religion known as Islam.

May Allah (swt) guide us to ultimate victory-Ameen!

I do not believe that America is an enemy of Islam in any way whatsoever. America is fighting "terrorists" not Muslims. Unfortunately some, not so bright, people have painted the picture that "all Muslims are terrorists" and "Islam is America’s enemy". These people could not be any further from the truth. Islam is a part of America and it will forever be a part of America as long we as we have our freedom. I have many Muslim friends and they all feel the same way. I hate the fact that innocent lives are being lost by our bombs because some terrorist groups think that America is trying to "destroy" Islam and "destroy" Palestine.

Funny, all of the Americans on this board are here peacefully, with not one spouting about destruction to Palestine.

Why is the same not true for our counterparts and Israel?
