Assalaamu 'alaikum.
I've had hijaamah done and it is very beneficial mashaa`Allaah. The part the hurts is when the cutting is done and the cup's placed. You get a bruise for a little while after - but it's worth it.

U know I actually met a woman who performs it, and the whole idea is that the body has a map with different locations. Each illness has a soot or an area for cupping to be performed on. Like the chinese accu puncture, they too has a map for the body. For example if one suffers illness in the back, they do the cupping in the thigh.. etc. As for the area at the bottom of the head from the back, they prform the cupping for any illness and sometimes one even just performs it to renew energy. This is the spot where the Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam had hijama made on.

OK.. look at it this way: you're 25 (for example sake) and you've only really lost blood through minor injuries, when you have a blood test, if you give blood etc. This means.. you've got 25 years of bad blood stuck in your body!
Let me tell you that I was TOTALLY shocked when I saw the blood that was drawn from my back. Not because of the amount, but because of the fact that it was the consistency of a liver! Now that's what the bad blood's like.. it's thick and ugly. Why not get rid of it??
