A sutrah is what one who prays uses to separate between mih/her and people passing in front of him/her.

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: Do not give up prayer at night, for the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) would not leave it. Whenever he fell ill or lethargic, he would offer it sitting. (Sunan Abu Dawud)

Subhannallah, there is such power in praying at night, even if it is only a couple of rakats. If we get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, we may as well get wudu (we're washing our hands after using the bathroom anyway... I hope) and take a few minutes to praise Allah and thank Him for all we have. Qiyam al-layt is so intimate also. The world is so still. the presence of Allah is more palpable in such quiet reflection. We have no appointments to make. We have no TV show to catch. No one is waiting for us to finish. May we all make night prayer as integral in our lives are the fard ones. What reward on the Day of Judgement!
