He ran away to find the truth, leaving all the comfort and lavish behind wanting to find Allah, he became a student to a number of Christian priests, then had to cross to Arabia when the people after taking money for the trip decieved him and sold him as slave. Sobhan Allah, at the moment of his death, another companion was visiting him (can not recall his name), Salman told him I dont know how will I meet my Lord with all this extravagance around me. The man looked around to his very poor house inquiring what extravagance u r talking about, the whole thing is not worth 10 dirham.
