Allah = God of Abraham? - phatmonky - 03-31-2004 Possibly I missed this. Is the Islamic God the same God Christians pray to? (to Christians, known as the God of Abraham) I understand the major differences in beliefs between the Quran and Bible, but are the Gods themselves one in the same? Allah = God of Abraham? - spider - 03-31-2004 Hello phat, Short answer = Yes, same God. On a side note - I've often heard Christians say it's a "different" God. How could it possibly be a "different" God? There is only ONE... -spider (just thinking aloud) Allah = God of Abraham? - Muslimah - 03-31-2004 ok let me try to be more precise Phat we worship and of course pray to the only One Allah who there is not Diety but Him, who has begotten no one and no one begotten Him, who has not chidren or wife. So this is Allah Who of course yours too whether or not u believe in Him the same way. See the end result is there is only One Allah Who has no associates or partners, does not consist of more than One. Only 1 nice question here Phat Allah = God of Abraham? - radiyah - 03-31-2004 I will add verses from Quran about Abraham. In the name of Allah most Gracious Most Merciful : 3:33 God did choose Adam and Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of 'Imran above all people,- 3:34 Offspring, one of the other: And God heareth and knoweth all things. Al-Imran 2:124 And remember that Abraham was tried by his Lord with certain commands, which he fulfilled: He said: "I will make thee an Imam to the Nations." He pleaded: "And also (Imams) from my offspring!" He answered: "But My Promise is not within the reach of evil-doers." 2:125 Remember We made the House a place of assembly for men and a place of safety; and take ye the station of Abraham as a place of prayer; and We covenanted with Abraham and Isma'il, that they should sanctify My House for those who compass it round, or use it as a retreat, or bow, or prostrate themselves (therein in prayer). 2:126 And remember Abraham said: "My Lord, make this a City of Peace, and feed its people with fruits,-such of them as believe in God and the Last Day." He said: "(Yea), and such as reject Faith,-for a while will I grant them their pleasure, but will soon drive them to the torment of Fire,- an evil destination (indeed)!" 2:127 And remember Abraham and Isma'il raised the foundations of the House (With this prayer): "Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us: For Thou art the All- Hearing, the All-knowing. 2:128 "Our Lord! make of us Muslims, bowing to Thy (Will), and of our progeny a people Muslim, bowing to Thy (will); and show us our place for the celebration of (due) rites; and turn unto us (in Mercy); for Thou art the Oft-Returning, Most Merciful. 2:129 "Our Lord! send amongst them an Apostle of their own, who shall rehearse Thy Signs to them and instruct them in scripture and wisdom, and sanctify them: For Thou art the Exalted in Might, the Wise." 2:130 And who turns away from the religion of Abraham but such as debase their souls with folly? Him We chose and rendered pure in this world: And he will be in the Hereafter in the ranks of the Righteous. 2:131 Behold! his Lord said to him: "Bow (thy will to Me):" He said: "I bow (my will) to the Lord and Cherisher of the Universe." 2:132 And this was the legacy that Abraham left to his sons, and so did Jacob; "Oh my sons! God hath chosen the Faith for you; then die not except in the Faith of Islam." 2:133 Were ye witnesses when death appeared before Jacob? Behold, he said to his sons: "What will ye worship after me?" They said: "We shall worship Thy God and the God of thy fathers, of Abraham, Isma'il and Isaac,- the one (True) God: To Him we bow (in Islam)." 2:134 That was a people that hath passed away. They shall reap the fruit of what they did, and ye of what ye do! Of their merits there is no question in your case! 2:135 They say: "Become Jews or Christians if ye would be guided (To salvation)." Say thou: "Nay! (I would rather) the Religion of Abraham the True, and he joined not gods with God." 2:136 Say ye: "We believe in God, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to God (in Islam)." 2:137 So if they believe as ye believe, they are indeed on the right path; but if they turn back, it is they who are in schism; but God will suffice thee as against them, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. Al-Baqara These are some verses about Abraham(pbuh) sorry if I put much but I hope they are usefull to u. Allah = God of Abraham? - Muslimah - 04-03-2004 O Phat what Radiyah is telling u thru Quran which I wanted to add also but gave time. Is that not only He is Abraham's God but He is THE LORD of all Messengers and Prophets starting Adam till Mohamed (PAPBUH)this is the One we pray to Allah = God of Abraham? - Abohamza30 - 04-27-2004 (Assalam) I have another addition to that the sisters inputted on this Point: There is a Historical and arecheological evidence that GOD is the same as ALLAH and the two words are just alternatives and just difference exists in the Language each is written and spoken, and this come from the Historical finding of The Umm Qumaran biblical Scriptures found in dead sea In Jordan and Israel recently, the scriptures are so old enuf that they are older than the rise of Islam and they have the word Allah in their origional language used to write that time when Bible was banned in palestine By The Romans. Monks hid these scriptures in the Mountains of Um Qumran and they survived untill our time, after releasing of Interpretations of the scriptures, they came to the conclusion that The GOD Christians pray for is the Same as Allah and they mean the same GOD and Georg W Bush used this in one of his statments last year which caused much speech in American street and Church as well. By the Way, These scriptures are kept in hushhhhh Secretly, and not all the public knows about "em! and releases come often between the times to keep public and media away from them, cus they Have many secrets inside that evidence the authenticity of Bernaba's Bible which was found to have existence in the popes library! You Can verify this by doing simple search over the Internet and get wut you need from the websites. Some websites do not confess such fact due to Christian affilliations I assume. Thanks TO ALLAH ONLY. (hafiz) Allah = God of Abraham? - Ibn_kumuna - 04-27-2004 Salaam Alaikum The slurs and statements that El (God in Hebrew loosely) is a totally different entity from Allah (swt) is recent ploy by fundamentalist (I dread using the term for theoretical reasons) Christians. It has it's hubris and invective roots in the famous (or infamous) speeches and lectures given by Dr. Robert Morey. Not to be boastful, but I happen to be a student of Archaeology of the ancient Near East (particularly Israel), and the belief that Allah (swt) is an entirely different concept is totally unfounded. Insha-Allah I'll get my writings published someday so that I may amplify the profundity of such frivolous nonsense that they peddle. No need to worry, fellow Muslims Ibn Allah = God of Abraham? - Muslimah - 04-28-2004 Insh a Allah, no worries Ibn But let me put something here. as far as I understand in simple words, that Christians pray to Lord Jesus, am I not correct? We are talking about the current actual situation. This is what I understand, who is the father who at the same time sent his only son to earth to rescue mankind from their sins. Just a simple sentence. In such case, and I am not talking to what they are supposed to be doing according to their authentic scripture, no I am talking about what is happening in Churchs, as such we are not praying for the same God. Am I not correct??? what they are supposed to be doing is totally different:) |
