Islam Bashing: A Popular Sport

Anti-Islam prejudice is not a new phenomenon, it has existed for centuries. As a matter of fact this cycle of disinformation gained momentum with the advent of Islam, when the Arabs accused Prophet Muhammad of being a ‘madman’, a ‘poet’ and a ‘soothsayer’; and warned others to stay away from him, otherwise they would fall for his “magic” and join his ranks. However, they failed to mention that this “magical” effect was owing to the teachings of the Prophet, that: new born girls are not to be buried alive, slaves are not to be treated with harshness, animals are not to be overloaded, only God is worthy of worship and not idols which themselves are created, women are not to be treated as sex objects and so on.
The same Anti-Islam prejudice lead Pope Urban II to “liberate” the holy land from the “barbaric” Muslims. Again, the Pope failed to state that the Christians living under the rule of these “barbaric” Muslims were better off than their counterpart living in Europe.
The situation is not too different today. This prejudice is still there, thriving, and perhaps more widespread than ever at every level – from politicians to the uneducated labour class. It has become rather fashionable to talk about “Islamic Fundamentalism”, “Militant Islam”, “Oppression of women”, “the Taliban”, “Osama bin Laden”, etc in gatherings and on other occasions. We find in the overwhelming majority of cases the same old baseless myths being repeated, with a bit of added spice.
There has been a coinage of terms such as “Islamists” and “Islamic Fundamentalists” and these terms are used whenever an opportunity exists. It is astonishing that the actions of a few individuals bring Islam under the spotlight. More generally if the person involved happens to be a Muslim then Islam gets the blame. However, the actions of IRA, the loyalist groups, the Basque Separatist Groups, Eric Robert Rudolph, etc do not bring Christianity under the spotlight nor do we hear terms such as “Christian Fundamentalists”, “Christianists”, “Christian Terrorists”, etc. In April 1995, immediately after the Oklahoma City bombing, fingers were pointed at “Islamic Fundamentalists”. However when Timothy McVeigh was found guilty, it was simply “Timothy McVeigh” and not “Christian Fundamentalists”.
Similarly the actions of Ariel Sharon, Dr Baruch Goldstein, IDF, Jewish Defence League, etc are not attributed to Judaism nor do we hear terms such as “Jewish Fundamentalists”, “Jewish Terrorists”, etc.
The West commonly uses two labels when describing Muslims, the “moderate” Muslims and the “fundamentalist” Muslims. So who is who? Generally the “fundamentalists” are those who oppose any western policies or interests. The definition of “moderates” can now be guessed.
Secondly, who has the right to label someone as a “fundamentalist” and by what standards? The Taliban were “mujahadieen” as long as their actions were in accordance with the US interests. As the interests changed, the “mujahadieen” turned into “fundamentalists”.
The double standards are obvious and quite frankly anyone who takes part in this Islam-Bashing is either ignorant of Islam or a bigot.

Zaynab Islam bashing is not just a popular sport but as well a popular past time. I mean any site I go they have hate against islam, the stupidest thing I read on-line was in a Christian website! They called Muhammed (P.B.U.H) a terrorist! They called him a mass murderer! They (lacking ideas of names to call him) also called him a pidifile etc..... Wats strange is that the site name was something Bible.net and that at the bottom of the website, it would have an American flag stuck on an Israeli flag and saying support Israel, thats when I realized that this site was penetrated by Zionists. Those Zionists are spreading hate against Islam everywhere around the globe! They want to make sure that the people acknoledges Islam as terrorism.
Also jews aren't our enemies. Their are jews sympathatic to the Palestinian cause because they say that the Zionist stole the name Israel (which means abdullah according to what an Islamic Teacher told me) and that the Israel can only be founded by a messiah not by some european jews who comes to arabia and declares he came back home! Its the Zionist thats causing so much problems for muslims.
I mean some Americans are brainwashed that they declare that Al Qaeda sets of for world domination. To rule the world! it doesnt get any lamer than that! Also notice that alqaeda was the best thing to happen to Israel! I mean ever sinse al qaeda tore down those towers, the American media framed the arabs by airing "live" footages of Palestinians celebrating 9/11!
And that the Israelis were killing Palestinians mercilessly and everyones face turned because they thought islam was a terrorsit religion. And that according to all al qaeda attacks most of the victims were muslims! So we have an organization that claims to be fighting for Islam but does more damage to Islam! An ignorant person stated in another area for posting that Islam inspires people to hijack and fly them into tall towers! I replied that i studied Islam for many years and yet you claim islam inspires terrorism, please tell me where in Islam does it inspire terrorism since you know soo much about Islam!
This further proves that Zionist manage to infiltrate into the mind and hearts of americans! But their are some Americans that didnt fall for the Zionist tricks but are criticized for their views by "patriotic" americans. This nonsense about Islam as Terrorism has to stop as Islam denounces Terrorism in every way.

Thank you very much for your wise input, brother. I agree with everything you've mentioned.
For the information of all brothers and sisters, Christian and Zionist sites that have been set up with the sole purpose of abusing and ridiculing Islam with all kinds of lies and harsh language are becoming extremely common on the web. These Christian and Zionist fundamentalists also 'infiltrate' into the Yahoo Islamic chatrooms and utter profanities against Islam. I have seen it myself. Since such people are steeped into racism and do not believe in peace, it is pointless and impossible to have a rational discussion with them. Therefore, I request all brothers and sisters to please keep away from their obnoxious websites and to ignore them in Islamic chatrooms.

Israel is Prophet Ya`qub, for Abu Dawud At-Tayalisi recorded that `Abdullah Ibn `Abbas said, "A group of Jews came to the Prophet and he said to them,
«هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ إِسْرَائِيلَ يَعْقُوبُ؟»
(Do you know that Israel is Jacob) They said, "Yes, by Allah.'' He said,
«اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَد»
(O Allah! Be witness.)''
At-Tabari recorded that `Abdullah Ibn `Abbas said that `Israel' means, `the servant of Allah.'
As for those Jews who say that Israel can only be founded by the messiah, how can they be sympathetic in the long term when they too have dreams of taking Palestine???

True Deen, yes I came accross a site of Jews who are against Israel for religious purposes calling it a secular state. However, our motives are totally different. Their motives for calling for peace is different. We dont care to die and attain shahada they fear death according to Quran:
"Say to (them): "If the home of the Hereafter with Allah is indeed for you specially and not for others, of mankind, then long for death if you are truthful."
* But they will never long for it because of what their hands have sent before them (i.e. what they have done). And Allah is All-Aware of the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." (Quran 2:94-95)
