Are You A Christian? Yes Or No? - mahashim - 10-15-2004

Are you a Christian? Yes or no?

Do you truly believe? Yes or no?

Have you been baptized? Yes or no?

Mark 16:16-18 "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; (a) In my name shall they cast out devils; ([Image: cool.gif] they shall speak with new tongues; ©They shall take up serpents; and (d) if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; (e) they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

Once again. Have you (a)been baptized and (b)do you believe?

a) If NOT then you WILL NOT BE SAVED BUT DAMNED. [Image: cool.gif] If a Christian has been baptized and believes then they should exhibit the "signs" mentioned above, such as being able to drink any deadly poison (such as battery acid, etc.) and not be harmed. How about the other signs? Can all believing and baptized Christians lay their hand on any randomly selected terminally ill cancer patient or paraplegic and have him rise completely cured? Does this not require that the Christian world be completely free of all illness, doctors, and hospitals? According to this verse, should not all believing, baptized, Christians be able to do this if they truly believe are to be saved? If a Christian does not exhibit these signs, then does this not prove that they do not believe, and thus will not be saved but damned?

Yes, I am a Christian, I truly believe and and yes I have been babtized.

I am not any "denomonation" of Christianity and disagree with some beliefs that some Christians have though. It can be confusing, sometimes a group of people will focus on a particular "statement" in the bible like this one you mentioned for example and build thier belief system around it, thus the "denomonation of "babtists" came to be. Other examples are Pentecostals who dont cut thier hair because of a verse in the bible, and Catholics.... well I wont even go into that one, they have a lot of strange and differnt beliefs from my own.

I do believe that if God wants me to speak in toungs I will, and that if it is his will for my hands to be laid on a sick person and be healed they will be. And if it is his will for me to drink poison and live, I will. But I think it is about doing it for the right reasons, certainly if one was doing it as a "test" to show Gods power, it would be no good.

For me, I base my faith on one very inportant verse in the bible, and that is John 3:16 For God so loved the world he gave his only son, and whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.

I dont by any means think that we should 'disregard the law of God" but that through grace we can be forgiven so long as we believe.

I hope this answer has been helpfull, and not more confusing. ; ) Thanks! Christy

Hello nicole and welcome to our board,

Quote:Yes, I am a Christian, I truly believe and and yes I have been baptized.

I do respect your honesty, many others don't recognize the above points as a big deal and they just blindly believe in them and they even don't think to find out where is the truth. but i can see that you are open minded person and i advise you to discover the religion and the way of life of Islam.

Quote:I do believe that if God wants me to speak in toungs I will, and that if it is his will for my hands to be laid on a sick person and be healed they will be. Basically you are saying here that if God wants you to do anything by his will you will do, this is actually what Muslims believe as well. But regarding to the "test" of Mark 16 it's actually test done by the Bible not by anyone else. if you re-read the verses carefully you will notice a very interesting verse that is #17 started with "ATTENTION PLEASE STATMENT" 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe (ATTENTION); In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

So its clearly saying that WHOEVER believes shall perform these miracles.

Anyway nicole this is only our own interpretation and our point of view. i will just show below the context for you to re read again.

Mark 16

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

Amazingly this verse John 3:16 was quoted almost by every Christian that i met in my life, but amazingly also this verse was thrown out from the Bible (RSV) by 32 Bible Scholars of the highest eminence backed by 50 cooperating denominations of Christianity as a fabrication they said this verse not to be found in the original manuscript, but anyway this is going to take us to a different issue "WHICH BIBLE IS CORRECT" but its not our topic now.

well, hope that i didnt hurt your feeling, and i hope that you will come up with some questions about Islam [Image: smile.gif]
