''want To Embrace Islam...'' - umm Zachariah - 11-16-2004
Wants to embrace Islam but has been advised to wait
I have been researching Islam for the past month and have also started to read the Quran. I personally feel that I am ready to take the Shahaada but some of my Muslim friends do not feel the same way. They are warning me of making a lifelong commitment so hastily but I feel that I am ready. Could you please advise me on what I need to do so that I can readily accept and declare Allah as the one and only true God with a clear conscious that I did not do anything too soon? Thank you.

Congratulations to you. We could not conceal our joy when we read your question expressing your readiness to enter Islam. The advice you have received from some people to wait is rather strange, but perhaps they are afraid that you may return to disbelief after embracing Islam if you are too hasty. But isn’t death possible at any time? If your answer is yes, do you not see that the best thing to do is to go ahead and enter Islam immediately, so that if your time should come soon, you will meet Allaah as a follower of His religion, Islam, besides which He accepts no other religion. The best of good deeds is the one that is done without delay. Moreover, you have, al-hamdu Lillaah, read about Islam and read the Qur’aan for a reasonable period, so make haste, and do not deprive yourself of the reward which you will earn the sooner you enter Islam. We ask Allaah to help you and make things easy for you, to open your heart to the truth and help you to adhere to it. And Allaah is the source of strength.

Another good post thanks for this one Umm, this reminds me of an extended conversation i was having with a brother today at work in our lunchbreak. Just about how lucky i felt i was to have found Islam and embrace it fully before that day comes which is inevitable to all of us, the day of our death. I was trying to explain to him how i genuinely feel deep sorrow for those who don't embrace Islam, even moreso for those who learn about it, but then through ingorance decide not to embrace it, and in turn pretend they are solid and more confident in their current religion, this petty denial will bring them great punishment, because they have no excuse, they directly see the word of God and turn from it.
I get a chill through my bones thinking of their possible punishment, i don't want no one to go through that, that's why i'm trying to work out the best way to invite people i know to Islam. But yeh, the main point here is any day we could go, and when we rise again by Allah's will (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) And to have no excuse as a non beliver as to why you turned from Gods word....it's horrible to think of Allah's (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) punishment i don't even want to. This is why i feel real bad for these people, you can almost hear the cries "give us one more chance now we know"

Yes, in my signature is one of the many many many verses that stick in my head. These verses concern me so because i have friends and family who i know will be in this situation it's not nice to think about at all. Below are some of those very verses i mentioned. May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) have mercy on them.
<b><i>"Deem not that Allah is unaware of what the wicked do. He but giveth them a respite till a day when eyes will stare (in terror)" </i></b>
"As they come hurrying on in fear, their heads upraised, their gaze returning not to them, and their hearts as air."
"And warn mankind of a day when the doom will come upon them, and those who did wrong will say: Our Lord! Reprieve us for a little while. We will obey Thy call and will follow the messengers. (It will be answered): Did ye not swear before that there would be no end for you?"
(Quran 14,42-44)
These are really important verses people need to pay attention to. In fact, i'm going to Sig them.

Subhan Allah, instead of all the warnings they c around them and still they do not beleive, and then some say Allah is not just(Na'otho Billah Min thalik)(God Forbid)
