To the Westerner, the Islamic world is a lurid hodge-podge of exotic imagery - a myth adapted from 1001 Nights - comprised of huge harems, wild sex orgies, opulent palaces, flying carpets, incredible wealth, fierce warriors, hordes of thieves, shrewd and dishonest traders, cruelty and religious fanaticism.
Take away the flying carpets, and the West could be described in similar terms - but neither description would be accurate.
Not only do we need to consider this distorted Western viewpoint - which by itself, and minus its negative aspects, would be mere ignorance and relatively harmless - but we all must consider that these distorted viewpoints are deliberately being used and often magnified to goad the West into a future criminal war against the Islamic world. These unjust views, already previously held and reinforced since the Gulf War, are now the standard thinking by many Westerners - and are being used to JUSTIFY such wars!
The West has at its disposal tremendous media facilities for the education of the public, but until now, these facilities of information, education and entertainment have been largely used purposely to misinform, to miseducate, and to instill hatred against the Islamic peoples. Just as certainly, this situation has not come about by accident.
The West's mainstream media are controlled by a small group of unscrupulous men who know exactly what they are doing, and who will stop at nothing in order to attain their often criminal and murderous ends. This same group of media manipulators and its predecessors broadcast and published anti-German propaganda in both world wars and included the Japanese as victims and targets of their hate campaigns in the Second World War. These men are brainwashing experts. On their account, millions of Westerners, who had never met a German or Japanese, were inflamed with murderous hatred - sufficiently so that they killed millions of persons who might otherwise have been their customers and friends……

I will try and be very Islamic here and not get my temper into action as you have seemed to have steped on my toes like so many journalist as you see it have steped on other people's toes.

It is true that journalist are conveying one side of the story and there is war in the middle east at the moment. But I assure you that many people are upset about Bush going to war and taking many western countries with him. As we know it for power. We are not ignorant people we don't believe what we read. We know it is only for the oil because oil=money.
May I ask where you are from. From your point of view I am guessing you're not from the west.
Also you say that western society makes the Japanese and Germans look bad. Well for a start living in Australia I can understand why us Aussie would be upset about the Japs trying to conquer us. But we are now a multi cultral contry and we try to forgive and move with are new brother's and sister's. I tell you the west is over the Germans, even though they do make fun of Hitler, that is only one man. You have to think he did a pretty insane thing and most Germans followed there ruler. As in society there is a ruler that leads a nation for bad or worse. I'll mention some and maybe you'll see that life reloves like that but we must keep strong in what we beleive in and let not the disbelivers let us down. We must be strong in our faith and fight for what is wright. Now in histroy we've had JESUS, MOHAMMAD, CEASER, CLEOPATRA, ALEXANDER THE GREAT, HENRY 8TH, AKHENATON (who was a pharoh who believed in one God) HITLER, BUSH.
My grandparents are Hungarian and my grandfather was forced to fight for Hitler and moved to Oz after it. Like I said Oz is very multi cultral so how many other grandfathers have moved here for the same reason and we don't blame the Germans for one mistake.
I am only new to this deen and yes I have found it hard converting because of the Western society I live in but I want to sent the whole society an example because of what I believe in. Maybe they will see how great Islam is. But all we can do is try.

I haven't gotten a chance to say welcome to you!
As for the discussion, I have to say, Rehmat is correct on many statements, he's just very aggressive in getting the points accross. We really do not need oil from the middle east at all..... we even have a raw spot in Alaska that we haven't drilled yet. For some odd reason, it seems that every thing the United States does, it is always in the best interest of Israel. I would like for one day the USA goverment do what is in the best interest of the USA!!!!!

I am an American citizen, born and raised.... and I will agree with you on one issue... no.... we are not all stupid.... but honey, there are alot of brainwashed people who ARE. That is a sad fact. I can't honestly say that they are outright stupid, really.... maybe a better synopsis would be... they are blinded by their cash. We as a society are so caught up in getting things, wanting things, craving things, what we have, how we look, what is easier, what is faster, more conveniant, how to impress..... many Americans really are oblivious to the whole world.
As far as Hitler or Germany..... there is one parallel between Bush and Hitler..... both leaders spread their troops too thin. I am hearing now on the news this second on MSNBC that 80,000 more troops are needed.
