Need Help With Hadith, Please - umm Zachariah - 11-25-2004

Assalamu aleikum brothers and sisters,

I do need some help, have got stuck [Image: dry.gif]

About breaking fast during Ramadan. Not due to the reasons acceptable, like travelling, womens period, sickness and so forth, BUT if someone eats intentionally during Ramadan. I did find a Hadith from Abu Dawud:

Book 13, Number 2390:

Narrated AbuHurayrah:

The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If anyone breaks his fast one day in Ramadan without a concession granted to him by Allah, a perpetual fast will not atone for it.

Now my dilemma is, I have been 'told' this is of no value and the atonement for this should be the same as for example having sex with your wife of husband during the light hours during Ramadan. Freeing a slave or feeding 60 people or fasting 60 days without interruption.

Can someone help me out here please?

And I also wonder - do anyone know of a web-site where one can read explanations to Hadith, like we can read Ibn Kathir to have the tafsir for the Qur'an is there somewhere out the same possibility to for Hadith?

Surley would appreciate your knowledge and answer! [Image: smile.gif]

to my understanding, the expression of not even fasting all your life can not make up for breaking the fast without a valid reason is just a harsh and serious warning against this sin. However, of course one will just make up thru the usual atonment.

Umm check this link:

This is a manual on fasting.

Insh a Allah this topic contains all situations of fast breaking and the required atnoment.

Assalamu aleikum,

Shukran sister Muslimah,

The threads are good and gives much.

What I am 'looking for' is like this. IF you break your fast during Ramadan WITHOUT the ok reasons given by Allah, SWT, and by this act becomes an infidel, HOW can you return to Islam? By Shahadah or how?

(Don't worry [Image: rolleyes.gif] I am NOT talking about myself alhamdulillah, just something I am 'working on')

And my second question was that if there is 'somewhere out there' a web site to go deeper into hadith, like reading explanations to them. I find some of them a bit difficult to understand that is why I would surely be helped by some kind of explanation. Any ideas or suggestions brothers and sisters? Or is it only scholars that has access to such explanations?

to my knowledge sister that u do not need to take shahada, just ask forgivness from Allah and become a good muslim and Allah is The all forgiving sister, I think that Allah will not accept from those who did not feel regret and do not care if they fast instead of that day or not, but if u return to him asking forgivness, He is The Merciful, He will forgive, He will forgive a killer who kills a nafs and a human being if he repented, and I think u know the story of the man who killed 99 nafs and then completed the 100 and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'la forgive him and he entered Jannah [Image: smile.gif]. It all depends on our intentions UMM, if we are sincere in our repentance then all will be forgiven and u will be newly born. Wallahu A'la Wa A'lam

umm may be I was not clear enough, one does not need to take shahada for missing the fast without a valid reason. It is a sin. Look here from the manual of fasting:

Q. What is the ruling on a person who neglects fasting for no valid reason for few years, although he observes the rest of the obligatory acts of worship. Does he have to make up those months or expiate? If h e has to make them up, how does he go about it?

A. An adult under obligation who neglects fasting Ramadhan disobeys Allah and His Messenger ££, and commits a major sin. He should repent to Allah,

and make up all those months along with feeding a needy person for each day if he can afford it. If he cannot afford feeding needy people, then repenting to Allah and making up those months would be sufficient. Because fasting is a great pillar of Islam, which Allah has imposed on adult Muslims.

However, if he neglects fasting out of denial, then he is an infidel who denies Allah and His Messenger.

So no need for shahada since this is a sin and not apostating.

As for the link Jazaki Allah khairan Radiyah, could u also post it in the links room [Image: dry.gif]
