Ex-Guantanamo Detainee Confirms Qur’an Desecration
An Afghan ex-Guantanamo detainee confirmed on Tuesday that U.S. interrogators at the prison have repeatedly desecrated the Qur’an, which prompted a hunger strike and a U.S. apology.
In an interview on AVT Khyber television, Abdul Rahim said that abuse of the holy book was routine at Guantanamo Bay.
“Abuse of the Qur’an was done routinely particularly in the early days of detention,” Rahim said.
“They would throw the holy book on the ground, trample upon it and tell the prisoner under interrogation no one could stop them from doing that.
“The news of sacrilege sent shockwaves among the prisoners and all of us went on a hunger strike.
“We declined to participate in the interrogation and also did not eat anything for many days,” he said.
The hunger strike ended only after senior U.S. officials apologized for the desecration, Rahim added.
“All of us ended the hunger strike except for a Palestinian. It was due to our efforts and sacrifices that we restored the honour of the Qur’an,” he said.
Abdul Rahim’s statement comes after the Newsweek, the magazine that released a report saying that U.S. guards at Guantanamo abused the Qur’an, retracted its report.
In its May 9 edition, the magazine published a report describing the desecration of the Qur’an by Guantanamo interrogators, including throwing a copy of the holy book into a toilet to breaj the Muslim prisoners.
Rahim arrived back in Pakistan after he was released from Camp X-Ray last month.
He was arrested in Peshawar in 2001 and handed over to U.S. custody.
Rahim also said that Muslim detainees at Guantanamo were kept in cages like animals.
“The cages were made of steel and also the beds on which we used to sleep. At times we created lots of noise by thumping the steel cages that would disturb the Americans.”

I just have to reply to this statement:

Allah Preserves the honor of the Qur'an. Just because some ignorant monkeys do ridiculous things, does not mean it lost its honor. It is sad to hear about that muslims are so disrespected as well as our book but these idiots are only furthering their own punishment. As muslims we must remember that no deed goes unrewarded. I pray that these guards repent for their actions and actually try to understand the Qur'an instead of being scared of it. I bet none of them read it. If they did they would have realized that Jesus and Mary are both mentioned in it. Do you think they would desecrate those names? Not likely. Did any of the inmates tell the guards of this fact I wonder? I understand that they are not in the greatest position to make dawah but remember that Umar was going to kill the prophet at one point. The rest we all know.
The prophet was given the choice to have Mecca crushed by its surrounding mountains after he had stones thrown at him as he was driven from Ta'if. (Correct me if I am wrong, please) He was greatly wronged and would have been justified in doing it. Would Allah be unjust? No. Allah knew that the prophet understood that Islam is beyond Muhammad saws. It is about spreading the message. We abandoned this and now we suffer. Allah Guide us all. Allah Forgive me.

u r correct he was given the option through the angle of mountains to have Taif crushed by the surrounding mountains not mecca. so this is the only missing point.
I think u have a point in your post, but certainly Alhamdulelah we are not in their position. Yes now I remembered, Yusuf was in their position and didnt loose the chance to make Dawa.

- When the savage and deceptive American army invaded Baghdad and slaughtered thousands of Muslims in 2003 C.E. the rest of the Islamic Ummah were again shell-shocked and stunned.
- In response to the Mongolian invasion, Sheyookh such as Al-Izz Bin Abdis-Salam and the great Mujahid Ibn Taymiyyah demanded Al - Jihad while rousing and pushing for the Islamic armies to take back the Islamic lands from the Kuffar and re-establish the Islamic system.
- In response to the 2003 American invasion, 'Sheyookh' and great media personalities such as Qaradawi, Hamza Hanson and Tantawi demanded that the Muslims refrain from drinking Coca-Cola and eating Big Macs.
- When the Muslims had discovered that the Mongols had desecrated the Holy Qur'an, it only increased their fervour to promptly rally their armies resulting in the victories of the battle of Ain Jaloot and Shaqhab. Indeed our noble Ameer Al-Mudhaffar Qutuz, killed the Mongolian delegation and left their corpses hanging in his capital after they sent him a letter insulting Islam and the Muslims.
- Today the Muslims have again discovered that our Holy Qur'an is being desecrated as it is used as toilet paper and flushed amongst American excretion in Guantanamao Bay. Our 'rulers' asked for a clarification of the incident and begged the Kuffar for the possibility of an apology!!!?? Our Ummah was then duped into marching and chanting pointlessly "Death to America" - while our armies reside in barracks to sit and polish their guns. The Muslims' intelligence was then humiliated and insulted by being told by the Kuffar that this was just a 'false report' – our 'rulers' bowed accordingly and accepted….
Yaa Muslimeen..the Kuffar have remained consistent in their role as our enemy. As Allah SWT says: “Never will the Jews and the Christians (kuffar) accept you till you follow their Millah (aqeedah, doctrine or ideology)”. [TMQ 2:120]. The filthy, animalistic treatment of our Holy Qur'an is merely a drop in the flood of Muslim blood and tears which have been shed and spilled in this current war on Islam. The implausible irony of this calamitous and brutal war is that still until now - only one Army is partaking in it…
