Something smells fishy - arclight - 07-16-2006

I once heard someone say that it is its food that defines a nation, so with that in mind, and my choice of avatar, is anyone willing to share a few recipes for fish?

I must admit I'm no cook, and usually just milk and flour, then fry them and maybe some herbs thrown in, so I'm not really going to be much help to this thread

I'd love to share my recipes, but I don't know how to say many things in english  this only happens to me when it comes to vegetables and seasoning.

You need cumin powder

one or 2 eggs depending on for how many people ur cooking for

You need corriander If you can't get that where u are find stockpowder

Green herbs

Hawaj (this is what it looks like) http://www.seasonedpioneers.co.uk/assets/s...Blend_small.jpg

Salt (ofcourse)

Bread crumbs

Lemon

I come from a very oral culture we don't use written recipes we do things from heart, watching and listening. So I'm sorry if my recipe looks a bit odd.

First put the egg into a bawl and add everything into that except the (bread crumbs) then dip the fish in that, make sure that it absorbs everything. After you did that put the ready fish in the bread crumbs then frie it or you can put it in the oven.

You can eat that with Basmati rice (If u know how to make that).

It's nice to eat that fish with this:

You need Brokolli

Green paper

Red Paper

Onions (all types) red, green, and the normal white one)

Lemon

Will give u the rest for this recipe soon.....I need to pray first :D

This is what I mean by green and red Paper, in some places it's called paprika: http://www.marions-kochbuch.de/index-bilder/paprika.jpg

Add also a yellow one to that list. I guess I should explain now how to cook that:

First cut the brokolly heads into pieces and boil that in water only first....when it starts to cook and it becomes ripe. Throw the water out and add some olive oil (u can use any oil u like) Avacodo oil is also good. When it starts sizzling add your onions first (all ready cut) then uhm let it cook for a bit when u see the onions cooking add all the seasons you put with your fish except the lemon. Mix that together and then start adding your (paprikas) (u can choose how to cut them long or into small blokes) I usually do long. Cook that all together (by now u should have a hunger fever) and your kitchen should smell amazing. When you think everythings cooking ok, then u can start serving that with lemon and some Salad.

I assumed you were writing it phonetically, and took it to mean peppers :)

I'll certainly give it a try, thanks B)

Ah-ha, I did think of one fish related recipe. Fishcakes :)

Boil the fish and potato (seperately) and then mash them up.Wait for them to

cool and then mix them together adding the sage.(You can add thyme if you

like it).

Form the potato/fish/sage mash into patty shaped cakes.

Beat one egg and brush it onto the cakes.Coat the cakes in a flour and fry.

You can us pretty much any white meat fish for it, but I usually end up using Cod, mainly because its the only thing Cod is good for.
