Hadeeth 550 of كِتَابُ الاستسقاء (The Book Concerning Al- Istisqa') with which the commentary will resume is listed below:

550. عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: رُبّمَا ذَكَرْتُ قَوْلَ الشّاعِرِ, وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى وَجْهِ النّبِيّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَسْتَسْقِي, فَمَا يَنزِلُ حَتّى يَجِيشَ كُلّ مِيزَابٍ, وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ: وَأَبْيَضُ يُسَتَسْقَى الْغَمَامُ بِوَجْهِهِ ثِمَالُ الْيَتَامى عِصْمَةٌ لِلأَرَامِلِ رواه البخاري: 1009

550. Ibn Umar رضى الله عنهما said : The following poetic verse occurred to my mind while I was looking at the face of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم while he was invoking Allâh for rain. He did not get down till the rain water flowed profusely from every roofgutter: These were the words of Abu Tâlib: And a white (person i.e. the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم ) who is requested to invoke Allâh for rain and who takes care of the orphans and is the guardian of widows..... (2:122O.B.)

‘May Allah bless and make fortunate that man who hears a hadeeth from us (i.e., from the Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and then he conveys that hadeeth just as he heard it, for there are many who will receive the hadeeth after him who are more preserving and understanding of the hadeeth than the one who heard it himself the first time.’ [Tirmidhi]

Who was Imam Bukhari?

Imam Muhammad bin Ismaeel al Bukhari (194-254 Hijri) was born in Bukhara, modern day Uzbekistan. He saw a dream in his youth in which he was fanning the air and removing the dust and flies whilst seated in front of the noble Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam). This was an early indication of the glorious future Allah had planned for him. Upon interpretation, he was told that he would be instrumental in removing falsehood from the ahadeeth of the noble Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam). He is undoubtedly the greatest ever Imam of hadeeth with over 90,000 students having studied the Jami al Saheeh directly from him and over 130 commentaries of his work having been completed. In the past the Great Scholars of hadeeth used to travel for hundreds of miles for the sake of one hadeeth and yet we are getting this opportunity without all this hard work and effort. Let us not let this great opportunity go to waste. We request that you come yourselves and bring others also to learn the words of the Holy Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam).
