Adopting Children - NaSra - 08-12-2006 Bismilah Asalamalaikum Brothers and Sisters Is there any rulling in Islam about this? Would you Brothers and Sisters ever Adopt? Please share your thoughts. My heart tears everytime I see those commercials on t.v. The look in those kids eyes pull at my heart strings. I feel like I owe them that which they deserve (If Allah blesses me with the means one day InshAllah) just by laying eyes on those innocent children. Adopting Children - Muslimah - 08-13-2006 Bismillah as salam alykom Children adoption is regulated in Islam: 1. You cannt give the child the father's name. In other words, the child has to remain his/her parents carrying the father's last name. 2. Thus, they cannt inherit. 3. when the child reaches puberty, they have to be moved to a different place where they dont have contact with the male or female spouse, in the evening and so. Because physically the child is not there's neither is he /she a brother/sister to their children which makes him/her not maharam. I mean if the child is a female, when she is matured, it will be haram for the man to look at her without being covered and vice versa the woman cannt be in contact with a matured male without being covered. 4. Also giving them the new name will strip them from their own identity which may cause a mixture of lineage. Like they can meet their own brothers and sisters without knowledge and marry for example. Thus, they must be moved to a close area where the couple can constantly look after them, take care of their affairs, support them financilly, but they cannt continue living in the same place after pubery. And Allah Knows best Adopting Children - NaSra - 08-13-2006 Bismilah Asalamalaikum Alot of "cannots". I was actually more after what Islam says about young people who are capable of having bioligical children choosing to adopt. <i>Adopting Children</i>, (<i>When you are Perfectly Fertile and Healthy</i>)? But if you go to any Muslim website and research this topic, you will find that adoption is not permitted (according to Sharia law) under any circumstances. For example: The difference between sponsoring orphans and adopting them which reads, in part: Quote:Allaah has forbidden adoption because it causes knowledge of people’s lineage to be lost, and we have been commanded to preserve people’s lineage. Adopting Children - Muslimah - 08-14-2006 Bismillah as salam alykom Thank u very much reepi for this informative reply. Nasrah, the aim of marriage if u r fertile and healthy is to be grateful to Allah and procreate your own children. Thus, deciding not to have children is like rejecting Allah's bounty and this is my own opinion, since there are others whom Allah Made infertile and just striving and making every effort including of course Dua to have just one child. Our aim when we marry is to formulate a Muslim family of our own lineage. As I mentioned in my reply, and it is confirmed in the reply reepi posted, that protecting lineage is very important. Adopting children and taking them as yours create mutliple problems of them, lineage, plus of course that the individual is not a real son/daughter which may create temptions. Surat Yusuf has a clear example of this when the woman who raised him turned to be extremly fond of him to the extend of calling him for Haram or jail. Hope u got the idea. And the reply had a lot of cannt because this is the case. Adopting Children - Dan - 08-14-2006 Bismillah As Salam alaikum I do not think she meant adopt instead of having one's own children but rather both, since there are many orphans out there who need help. Allahu 'Alam. Did not the Prophet do something similar in his house hold where there was both Zayd and Ali and his daughters in the same domicile (assuming before puberty)? As Salam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu Adopting Children - NaSra - 08-14-2006 Bismilah Asalamalaikum Alhamdulilah Brother that's what I meant. Quote: plus of course that the individual is not a real son/daughter which may create temptions. Temptations? I thought if u adopt a child and breastfeed it he/she is like your own and they will be like the real bro's and sis's of the children of that family. My mom Breastfed a boy, and she took him and raised him. He can't marry me, he's my Brother. I dress around him the way I would around my Real Brothers and he was raised in our household amongst all my other Sisters. Adopting Children - Muslimah - 08-16-2006 Quote:Bismilah Bismillah as salam alykom Actually, Nasra this is what i replied to. Dan, Zaid's case is, what the adoption ruling Ayah was revealed for. "Call them (adopted sons) by (the names of) their fathers, that is more just with Allah. But if you know not their father's (names, call them) your brothers in faith and your freed slaves. And there is no sin on you if you make a mistake therein, except in regard to what your hearts deliberately intend. And Allah is Ever OftForgiving, Most Merciful" (Quran 33:5). This is when Allah regulated the adoption issue. However, Nasra u never exactly explained about the breast feeding part in your first post. This makes the question different, let us look on how Islam takes a position on this. I mean when u take a child with the intention of adoption thru breast feeding. However, in all cases they still cannt take the father's name according to the Ayah for the same purpose, which is preserving lineage, since still the child will be possibly having other brothers/sisters from the original parents. More on this issue, of course breast feeing a baby makes him/her a brother /sister to the biological child with whom he shared the breast, makes him/her also a brother /sister to the rest of children and thus, non marriagebale. However, his/her brother /sister is not a mahram to other children. Did u get this? Actually because me too I have the same situation. In detail, we have a cousin who breast fed with my sister. He and his brother are non marriageble to my sister. He is non marriabge to me. His brother is marrigable to me. Hope this is clearer. Adopting Children - NaSra - 08-16-2006 Bismilah Asalamalaikum I feel a little bit confused. My head is spinning  . I'm sorry but I don't know what to say. Especially what reepi said and you said he's right. This is would be easier if we could talk. Jezekelah khair though. I read everything still feeling unsure with things. InshAllah maybe it's my understanding that is limited. Yaa rab. FeeAmanaAllah and thanks for taking your time to help. Adopting Children - Muslimah - 08-19-2006 Bismillah as salam alykom Nasra no need to thank me for my time, my time must be dedicated to what Pleases Allah. However, I m sorry that u r still confused and also for my late reply. Well, as u may have noticed, your question at first was incomplete only with Dan's comment that he explained what you were exactly aiming to. If u want u can of course pm me with full details of what u r thinking and searching for and INsh aAllah we can work on it. Or u can post it on more detail in Banat and give chance for others to help both of us. as u wish. :) |
