Specially when their first goal, thru electoral campaigns, is to pull out American troops and end war in Iraq????

I don't think this is as great as it sounds, though it certainly it is better than the Republicans winning again.
There are several issues here which make the matter pretty complicated.

1. The "conservative party" in America -- the Republicans -- has for several years been governing as party of religious fundamentalists and not a party of conservatives. Conservative values involve small government, low taxes, and low spending. Bush's administration has been flouting those values since its inception. However, the Republican party has not resisted Bush in this because for a time he was winning them votes. Now, the American people have become sick of the wages of neoconservatism and have severely punished the Republicans for not being conservative like they promised to be.

2. The Democrats have been a politically defunct party for years. They do not have a strong platform or a well-defined set of values which they represent. At this point, however, they have won a resounding victory which is more a rebuke of their rivals than it is a vote of confidence in them. They will try to pull out of Iraq and reverse Bush's policies, but don't make the mistake of thinking that this is because they are particularly friendly towards Muslims. Democrat Howard Dean called Noor al-Maliki an "anti-Semite" for protesting Israel's wanton destruction of Lebanon. Nancy Pelosi is very closely involved with Jewish lobby groups in America.

I don't see America -- under any leadership -- reversing its policies in the Middle East any time soon. Rather, I think America will continue to bet its money on a losing horse until its power fades into relative obscurity.

I think with the Democrats then other issues will be addressed. The minimum wage will be increased when the Democrats take control. I don't think they are going to focus all their attention on Iraq.

Sorry for coming back to this thread as late.

See Khairan I agree with u, however, my main point was that the democrats wan because they used the pulling out of US army in their electoral platform. If it means anything it means that the majority of voters are physically against this war, against this unnecessary presence in the Middle East. Since the common US citizen uses a different criteria to measure his/her interests which has nothing with being a super power. I mean just like laura said the average person will be more focused on the day to day life needs; wage increase, better education, better living standards ..etc. Just people, human beings like us Khairan. Sobhan Allah.

Through the whole history of America democrats or republicans or whatever, they never changed their policy in middle east that is for sure, only Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala knows what is being cooked up for this region. As being better politicians for americans themselves, well I guess we need more americans here to answer, "Ahlu Makka A'lam bishi'abiha" ;) right sis M
