Penalty of converting to Christianity - wel_mel_2 - 03-31-2006 Bismillah Quote:I have never been married, but from what I have been told by many people, just one wife can often be a handful, and I can't imagine anyone needing 72, and anyone that wants 72 is thinking about things other than Allah. No comments my friend, No comments:) salam Wael Penalty of converting to Christianity - wel_mel_2 - 03-31-2006 Bismillah: Quote:I don't recall where I heard it first, but I have heard it many times. Just seeing the word makes me think I may know the translation, but what is the proper translation. The word hoor occurs in the Qur’an in no less than four different places: (1) In Surah Dukhan chapter 44, verse 54 s "Moreover, We shall join them to companions With beautiful, big and lustrous eyes." [Al-Qur’an 44:54] (2) in Surah Al-Tur chapter 52 verse 20 "...And We shall join them to companions, with beautiful, big and lustrous eyes." [Al-Qur’an 52:20] (3) In Surah Rahman chapter 55 verse 72 "Companions restrained (as to their glances), in goodly pavilions." [Al-Qur’an 55:72] (4) In Surah Al-Waqiah chapter 56 verse 22 "And (there will be) companions with beautiful, big and lustrous eyes." [Al-Qur’an 56:22] The word hoor is actually the plural of ahwar (applicable to man) and of haura (applicable to woman) and signifies a person having eyes characterized by hauar a special quality bestowed upon a good soul, male or female in paradise and it denotes the intense whiteness of the white part of the spiritual eye. the word hoor has no specific gender. Mohammad Asad has translated the word hoor as spouse and Abdullah Yusuf Ali as companion. Therefore according to some scholars a man in paradise will have a hoor that is a beautiful maiden with beautiful big and lustrous eyes and a woman in paradise will get a man with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. i hope this help you to understand and i think my brothers and sisters here can explain further if you still need any clarification. salam Wael Penalty of converting to Christianity - Don Singleton - 03-31-2006 Quote:the word hoor has no specific gender. Now I really think that would be Hell Err, I'm not a muslim Don Quote:If you had as much snow as they have to deal with, you would probably have 30 or more words for it too, to describe various states or conditions of the snow. The point I was trying to make was that there is an inherent probable in translating texts. One is that a lot of words don't have a true translation between languages, secondly a lot of translation requires the translator to use his opinion of the message the original text was trying to convey. Quote:I take pleasure in thinking of myself as one of God's children, but I would never say I was His Son. As above. Jesus may have said he was the son of God, but did he mean literally that, or was he implying that he, and eveyone else, is God's child. It could be mistranslated, or just misinterpereted Quote:Yes when Muslimah first changed the subject he put some arabic script at the front, then he (or someone else) changed it again, and the extra 'a' crept in I would think Muslimah is a woman. The clue is sort of in the name :) Penalty of converting to Christianity - Muslimah - 03-31-2006 Bismillah salam Arclight Good guess, yes i m a woman, but Don where is this Arabic script I put couldnt find it. Initially the first part of the subject of the thread was a mixture of Arabic and English, then someone changed it to all English, but put an additional a in the last word: Charistianity rather than Christianity. Penalty of converting to Christianity - wel_mel_2 - 04-01-2006 Bismillah: Quote:One I can understand, but 72????? you know why the number 72 is an issue to you? because you are only thinking of the sexual practice between the man or woman who is going to have those 72 Hoors, please note that those Hoors are under your service in heaven to get for you whatever you desire and not necessary to have any kind of sexual intercourse with them. the reward in Paradise is UNIMAGINABLE. plus there is a very important thing you need to know, the righteous women, if they enter Jannah they will be with their husbands, and they will be made more beautiful than the Hoor, their rewards in Jannah will be more than the Hoor, The Hadith concerning 70 or 72 Hooris is authentic and it is reported as regards the one who dies as a martyr in the Cause of Allah and not to everyone. The reward in Jannah will be according to each one’s good deeds. and Allah knows best. Salam Wael |
