good you noticed.....and so the prophet rules regarding booty is holy..look at the next verse
(Some part is due) to the indigent Muhajirs, those who were expelled from their homes and their property, while seeking Grace from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure, and aiding Allah and His Messenger: such are indeed the sincere ones:-
some part!!....now who determine how much is this "some part"? doesn't the book include everything? then why doesn't it specify what is the "some part"....it was left to the prophet to decide....Quran put the guide lines for our life and then come Sunna and Ijtihad to add the detailes.

مَّا أَفَاء اللَّهُ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقُرَى فَلِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِي الْقُرْبَى وَالْيَتَامَى وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ كَيْ لَا يَكُونَ دُولَةً بَيْنَ الْأَغْنِيَاء مِنكُمْ وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانتَهُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ لِلْفُقَرَاء الْمُهَاجِرِينَ الَّذِينَ أُخْرِجُوا مِن دِيارِهِمْ وَأَمْوَالِهِمْ يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَانًا وَيَنصُرُونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ أُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الصَّادِقُونَ

our enemy (our common enemy sister lightuponlight) is not stupid to call us for kufr at once....step by step.....starting for example with less respect to our beloved prophet.....his sunnah is nothing...he was just a spokesman for God as u said...and so on....and then come the next step....
in a side note did anyone notice that our resident anti sunnah (light & the topic starter) don't use the word prophet?? just say "Mohammed".......i bet they call their manager at work "sir" or "mr" or even your Majesty.lol.....but its so much for <i>Mohammed</i> to be called a prophet.

Whatever God provided to His messenger from the people of the townships belongs to God and His messenger, and the relatives, and the orphans, and the poor, and the traveller. Thus, it will not remain monopolized by the rich among you. And you may take what the messenger gives you, but do not take what he withholds you from taking. And be aware of God, for God is mighty in retribution. 59-7

we can simply tolerate both of u THE_ICONOCLAST and lightuponlight. But this is the last time I will allow expressions like Allah ... as lightuponlight repeated it several times.
And THE_ICONOCLAST it seems that u like this example of tenessee. Do u receive training somewhere, or u have a standarad replies for certain arguments.
Ok do u pray? I asked u this question before?? I mean do u believe that u have to pray, How do u pray? Do u believe u must go for Haj??? BTW the only reason I am replying is not to win an argument, but rather to shed light on a current movement called Quran-yeen to which u might belong for other members to benefit.

(Quran 60:12)
"Indeed, <b>Allah was pleased with the believers when they gave their Bai'a (pledge</b>) to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) under the tree, He knew what was in their hearts, and He sent down As-Sakinah (calmness and tranquillity) upon them, and He rewarded them with a near victory" (Quran 48:18)

Just look at how Allah pointed back their cunning to their own neck. Imagine there <b>is a hadeeth narrated by our beloved, respected, teacher and role model the illetrate Messenger who was sent as a mercy to mankind may Allah Send the best prayer on him, his household and companions
</b>. In this hadeeth he foretold exactly what this group of people are saying.
"(Salla Allah a`alyhee wa sallam) "<b>He said the man from you (his Ummah) is about to sit on his couch before a gathering of people stating my hadeeth and saying between you and me is the book of Allah, what we find in it as lawful we make lawful and what we find in it as unlawful we make unlawful
</b>. What was the comment of the Messenge Salla Allah a`alyhee wa sallam? Just listen. [What was made unlawful by the Messenger Salla Allah a`alyhee wa sallam is just as what Allah made unlawful."
