Womens status in Islam. - Muslimah - 12-10-2003 as salam alykom brothers and sisters and salam a`alamanitab`alhoda BTW Im here just for today and will disappear again till Sat Insh aAllah JohnDoe, I think the thread is going somehow off topic. u tend to take things into peaces and thus lose the main focus, Alhamduleleah I gave u a reply about women status is Islam. To build on this, using barriers is allowed yes but u know what, ONLY with approval of the woman, she is treated like a fully acknolwedged human being who must share issues with the husband. As for the point of being intimate during pregnancy, yes of course it is allowed, simply because as u must know, sex is just another desire like food and others which Allah allowed us to enojy part of entertainment on earth. However, as Dan said must be done through the legitimate means. A woman has a major role to play JohnDoe, part of it is having the children. Then comes raising them, being a wife and a mother, this is the most important role she is going to be asked about before her Lord. Not if she was capable to attain presidency of a company, be part of a think tank or other so called glorious position which man made it attractive to women. The issue is that women became decieved about their major role, it was presented to them as being demeaning to be a wife and a mother. Alternatives were made to her in the form of masters and PHds, seminars, researches, parliament and etc etc etc. Matter of fact, not any woman can really play this role right. If u want to talk about this John then we shall tackle roles of men and women. See Islamic community is integrated in terms of roles, roles that serve one to please Allah. We can conclude that u dont believe in the exsitence of God on the first place. So if u want may be we must work on this first. Who else can provide for a 6 children family, nature, or what? u think u r working and providing, fine, who provides your employer, who owns the sky which sends the rain? who owns earth resources which generate income of different countries through which people live? who provides seas which brings out fish and other resources??? Now most important who plans the popultation? u think family planning concepts? No Allah in a very precise manner plans the number of population through birth and death. John it is a world very well organized through the Creator, King of the Kings who owns what is on skies and earth. welcome back JohnDoe:) Womens status in Islam. - sabiqoon - 12-30-2003 Quote:Originally posted by JohnDoe It is very difficult for me to understand what the relationship between women and men is in Islam and I have a lot of trouble accepting the \"rules\" as anything other than male dominance over women. Similar to the christian doctrine in marriage where the statement used to be \"honour and obey\" which most women now have ommitted from the marriage ceremony.Okay one person's actions. Some people do get sentimental but that does not mean all Muslim men. Muslim men are considered the best who treat their wives the best and treating wives the best means being considerate of their feelings and when you are considerate and fear Allaah( that means will not do any injustice on the wife) then you are not abusive. As far as it goes, Islaam out of all the religions in the world whether you agree or not is the most female friendly. There is a lot of unfairness and discrimination against women in judiasm and christianity, especially they are separated and treated differently during their menstrual cycle. This is one example of unfairness towards women in judeochristian traditions. Similarly, in hinduism and sikhism the women are not treated fairly. Furthermore, the amount of American women accepting Islaam is 3 to 5 times the amount of American men accepting Islaam and this too before marrying any Muslim(meaning marriage of a non-muslim woman to a muslim guy is not a motivation for conversion). This has to tell you that obviously these American women see something in Islaam to embrace it. Furthermore, you mentioned something about feminism. There is a trend among feminists now to develop a nurturing and caring attitude and not compete in a 'a man's corporate world' They realize that women have the greatest potential as a caring and consdirate person with their children and they are encouraging that, something that Islaam recommends for women. Thats my two cents. regards. |
