Was Napoleon A Muslim? - Senorita - 06-12-2004 Quote: Bismillah Salam ~petitedija~ apa khabar MashaAllah well said sis I agree with you to an extent. About MJ, I heard that he joined the farakhan clan so may Allah guide him to mainstream Islam. He needs guidence. Alhamdulilah All mankind does. I personaly wish for everyone to see the light of islam, be it even Napoleon or Micheal Jackson. So I wouldn't frown the day I hear that Micheal jackson has become a Muslim. Deep down inside It would actually make feel happy not because he is famous or he is rich but from the point of view that Allah has saved (if he wills) another person from the Hell Fire. I would feel just as happy if the begger in the city streets accepted islam. On the contrary Islam needs no decorating nor magnifying from anybody. Islam is perfect both in form and substance. Islam is a complete system in quantity and quality. So whether one leaves Islam or joins its either their loss or gain but Islam will still remain the way it has always been Perfect Was Napoleon A Muslim? - Muslimah - 06-12-2004 as salam alykom my humble input being an Egyptian who studied history of Egypt. We were taught that Jacques Menou enbraced Islam and married an Egyptian, being of the Messenger's descendant or not was not confirmed in my history book. As for Napleopn himself I did not study anything in this regard apart from him stepping into Azhar Masjed with his horses. At the end I share Dan's Petitdija, Khairan and Senorita's opinion about who embraces Islam. Islam is a gift it adds to the person who embraces it not the opposite. Yet, according to Islamic history, the Messenger (sallah Allah a`alyhee wa sallam) said O Allah support Islam with the embracing of either two Omars (he was referring to Amr Ibn Al A`as and Omar Ibn Al Khattab). Alhamdulelah both did embrace Islam and were major assets as well. Was Napoleon A Muslim? - lulu - 06-12-2004 woh, take it easy brothers and sisters. I think u missed the point I was trying to make. I in no way think that Napoleon converting to Islam adds to Islam's credibility. I only thought of bringing this up when I was reading another thread and simply thought it would be nice to know whether he did or not. Besides if he did convert then the conversion took place in the later part of his life so the actions that he committed as napoleon were not that of a muslim, so i was interested to find out how islam changed him for the better. I explained earlier that this fact I think will be of interes to muslims non-muslims alike. Ofcourse the most authentic book is the Quran and the most authentic opinion that of Allah and Prophet but how can u dismiss anyother history. If that were the case then are u saying that muslims shouldn't bother learning about any other history or any other form of i'lm (knowledge) for that matter. As long as we go to different sources and keep in mind that nothing is perfect except Allah and everything needs to be taken cautiously, I really don't understand what would be so wrong to find out if Napoleon who was known to be agreat eneral and was infamous for a lot of things, whether in the end he saw the truth and accepted islam and how did it chang him? I was just curious and thought maybe any one of you might have heard about this? Was Napoleon A Muslim? - Muslimah - 06-12-2004 as salam alykom Lulu dearest dont worry, we are not getting into a heated up discussion, on the contrary, the topic raised quite a few interesting points adding to what u just explain. Of course it is good to see how Islam may change people just exactly as it changed Omar, remember from a constantly drunk person to one whose opinion came in accordance to Quran in three occaisons. O this is a nice question to post on the thread quizzi quiz....... Was Napoleon A Muslim? - ~petitedija~ - 06-13-2004 Quote: as salam alykom Bismillah, Assalamu'alaikum, mmm, difficult enough to explain what's in my mind in english Of course both shahaba, Amr and Omar (ra) were major assets for Islam, but you see, it's the du'a of the Rasulullah (saw). And Alhamdulillah Allah (swt) fulfilled it. and talking about european who embraced islam and being of the Messenger's descendant (some people said so, some said no-- about this descendant), it happend once in my country. This man was a very brilliant person. Even he did the hajj, talked Arabic like native, knew Qu'ran well. This man is famous here, well known infact as the poeple who embraced islam to be able help his nation occupied my homeland. He did successfully. He was Snouck Horgronje. This man could be the major asset too for muslim esp. my country, if he was a real muslim. But you see, what did he do?! You see, the era of Rasulullah (saw) is different with the era of people after him. >> refer to my previos post about >> As one of the shahaba said (i forget who was he), more or less insyaAllah like this (i just take the point): "when Rasulullah shallallahualaihi wa salam was still alive, we knew what was wrong or right directly, cos when we were not sure about something, we could directly ask to him. But now he is not among us. We just judge(?) someone from what comes out from his/her mouth, and we see what we can see from his/her action." Qoute Senorita >> Salam ~petitedija~ apa khabar wa..... khabar baik sis, terima kasih. bisa bahasa Indonesia? Where are you from? should I say to you: como estas? buenos dias? I forget what my friend has taught me It's nice to hear someone say hello in my language wassalamu'alaikum, ~petitedija~ Was Napoleon A Muslim? - Senorita - 06-13-2004 Quote: wa..... khabar baik sis, terima kasih. bisa bahasa Indonesia? It's nice to hear someone say hello in my language Hold it there ~petitedija~, I do not know that much yet . My auntie and her children lived in Indonasia for a long time, so I learned the tiny bit I know from them. I think your language sounds so beautiful, Its like music. I'd like to learn how to speak it fluent one day InshaAllah. This all reminds me of something. One time I saw some hijabis who looked like Indonasians, so I decide to offer them my Salam and I further also said How are in indonasian whereupon they started carrying a conversation with me in indonasian, I was standing there feeling like oh no what did I get myself into lol. So I started using my hands... They couldn't speak english at all and the only thing I knew was apa khabar and thats it. That was a funny day. Was Napoleon A Muslim? - Muslimah - 06-13-2004 I must say u two Senorita and Petitdija lighten up my heart. Mash a Allah Petit just to clarify a point, the one who was a decsendant of the Messenger according to the post was the Egyptian woman married to Menou. Bismillah, Assalamu'alaikum, ya...I know that sis. I've just realize that there's something missing in my post. The prohet Muhammad's (saw) descendant I meant was the indonesian woman who married to Snouck H. And Snouck H was a dutch. According to the history I read, the woman was a daughter of an ulema. JFYI Islam was introduced to indonesia by people from Hadramaut, some says, by Arabic traders, some says by Indian muslims. well, many people from around the world came to Indonesia for trading. There were big kingdoms here which were well known through out the world. Even it was told that Ibn Batutah has come to indonesia. wassalamu'alaikum, ~petitedija~ Was Napoleon A Muslim? - ~petitedija~ - 06-14-2004 Quote: Hold it there ~petitedija~, I do not know that much yet . I think u missed the point I was trying to make. I in no way think that Napoleon converting to Islam adds to Islam's credibility. Exactly, adding to our knowledge such matters is not a sin , why is everybody so tense about this subject . And sister petit, learning about Quran and hadeeth and sahaba and Islamic history is a must for each muslim, it is only obvious that we should know and learn about our history, but after the prophet dies science or learning does not stop there, we should learn about past present and future, that is what Allah Almighty ordered us to do, so if there is a source we find that will affirm him as a muslim, so what is wrong with that, , as for me I will make a reasearch for that, no harm at all . wasalam 'alaykom wa rahmat Allah Allah knows best. |
