My Journey Towards God. - Faris_Mee - 04-19-2006

Hi Mahasvapna

I'd like to propose something to you. Below is a link to a sura from the Quran. It's spoken in plain english with no arabic. And includes a word_doc. as well. It's my opinion that if you <b>listen</b> to this reading at least <b>three times</b>, and I say three times because one tends to miss much on the first pass. Then you should be able to do your own litmus test;

<b>Whomever Allah wills to guide, He opens his chest to Islam and whomever He intends to confound, He makes his chest narrow and squeezes so tight that, at the very idea of Islam, he feel as if his soul is going to climb up towards the sky. That is how Allah places a blight on those who do not believe</b> 6:125

I would guess that when you have listened to the recording a few times you should know if Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful is the God that you know...in sha allah (if Allah so wills). To dispute about Hell is pointless. You possess the faculties of reason. Listen and judge for yourself using 6:125 as the gauge.

Before we part, I'd like to share with you what is generally considered as "The First Advice" of The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

On the authority of Omar bin Al-Khattab, who said : I heard the messenger of Allah salla Allah u alihi wa sallam say :

<b>"Actions are but by intention and every man shall have but that which he intended..."</b>

When you sit to approach the Words of God beware of your intentions for doing so and whether you have pre-conceived in your mind an answer before pressing "PLAY".

Peace.

Well, that particular link I couldn't figure out, but i did find a few recordings of the qu'ran in english.

Aside from the same sense of interest in hearing something new that I normally have, I cannot say I was moved at all. I tried to have no preconceived feelings in any direction, only tried to listen openly. It may be that I have really never had that much faith in words from a book.

However,

I've been quiet for a couple of days because i've been coming to a climax in my psychospiritual discipline - that is, the mental disciplines of spiritual expansion or exploration if you will - I've had a higher frequency of lucidity in my dreams, and started to sleep deeper and longer while my mind remains awake. It is the result of years of practice, and some of the first really significant results I've had... anyway...

In short, I have taken a step further towards mastery of my dreams, and this step has allowed me to realize a great fallacy on my part which I was beginning to almost take at face value. I won't argue it here, I simply wanted to say thank you to everyone who has exchanged with me, and wish you all the greatest blessings in your own lives. I have no doubt that it was the background of these exchanges in my mind that catalyzed my journey into this next tier. I hope that one day our human culture loses it's egocentric structures all together so that we can all take these massive steps forward in realizing the truth about what we are and why we are. I think then we'll all be able to really live in peace with one another.

Approach it with humility that GOD will open your heart. He has power over every thing. Nothing can prevail against His Will.

Quote:Well, of course I fear the consequences of my actions and words which I might do without thinking... but this is part of the act of Mindfulness - to pay attention to what one says, thinks, or does.

I think the only difference here is a misalignment of words. I think I understand what you mean - correct me if I have not interpreted properly - that one must know in one's heart that God will Judge one's actions, and should act correctly out of fear of this Judgement; you should not do what does not please God, because you must then fear the loss of his protection.

As I said, I believe the difference is simply a misalignment of words. To me, philosophical 'Fear' - vs. emotional fear - is more like Aversion. Avert oneself from those things which do not please God, from the actions and words and intentions. In the face of these things, though, either in ourselves or the world, the reaction that I feel one should have is not fear, but courage, conviction, and purity of intention.

in the face of God, I feel humility - that is, a deep understanding (even in the emotional sense here) that God is vast, and that I can no more oppose his will than I could oppose my own. It is expressed necessarily through every thought or action. And so I feel <b>humility</b> (as opposed to my own definition of fear), under that which is the highest Authority, coupled with Faith that this Authority does not abuse me, but rather guides and enlightens me.

if this business of the Fear of God is not aligned yet, then we must perhaps begin talking of it without using the word 'Fear' - I have found that by altering the way we express an idea, it's label or word, we can ellicit the true nature of the concept itself, free of labels and their restrictive boundaries.

Salam Mahasvapna

I m not sure after your last post if this was an inclination to an end of discussion or u still ready to hear my response here.

Well, although I was really moved the minute i read this post with this particular part I quoted, yet it took me sometime to be able to reply.

Matter of fact, and I m not sure if brother Faris will agree on this, but the way u expressed your position from God (to u) in this first part is exaclty what fear of Allah is. In the second part where I bolded humility, this is a status we are supposed to develop towards Allah, Glory be to Allah, that u feel it by instinct.

Mahasvapna, I have nothing to say except make dua that Allah Opens your heart more and illuminates your insight.

It is just that u r affected with other concepts and dont want to use the word fear for what it bears of other meanings. But the way u expressed it, is how we fear Allah.

One more point, dont depend much on your dreams as a source of enlightment. As I explained to you satan can really play much with the human being.

U explained satan the way u see him, however, satan has more that u dont know about.

satan's first and only and sole mission is to turn children of Adam astray. It is u can say a revenge coupled with a vow he made before Allah to turn children of Adam astray except those who are sincere devotee of Allah.

Iblees (Satan)] said: "By Your Might, then I will surely mislead them all,* Except Your chosen slaves amongst them (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism)." (Quran 38:82-83)

Human beings are torn between two forces of evil, satan and the ego (oneself) that may inspire deviated desires to the human being. It is up to us to supress the evil and allow good to foster and grow. How we do that? through struggling, remembrance of Allah, seeking Allah's protection as I told u before. Dreams may be really misleading, of course there are those dreams from Allah, but when one is sure and certain that he/she is seeking Allah's Advice thru legitimate means, using no spells, amigous words that may involve seeking deamons assistance or intervention.

Therefore, Mahavspna, the road is still there open before u, Allah Allowed u a chance to know the truth, now it is your choice to sieze this chance that might not come up again.

Salam

I used to place much store in dreams when i was a seeker, but looking back I can only say one dream was 'genuine' and maybe a couple of others...maybe. But once inside Islam and under Allah's guidance we learn that they are a weapon of satan. So be careful. At the end of the day we have to surrender our will and purpose freely to God - while we have the capacity to do it.

I suggest the following supplication for the seeker of truth. This supplication is offered with 2 rakaats of salat and Allah has never failed me. If the one who wishes to supplicate to God is not a muslim - but a genuine seeker, then I suggest a shower first as an offering of sincerity.

A Supplication of the Seeker

Oh My God

If Allah is truly your name

And Islam is the true religion

And if Islam is good for me

In this life and the life to come

Then open my breast

And place the love of You

And love for your religion

Inside my heart

But if Allah is not your name

And Islam is not the true religion

And if it will not be good for me

In this life and the life to come

Then close my breast to it

And remove it far far away from me

And replace it with what is better.

Amin

Allah u Akbar Faris, Mash aAllah

Mahavspna, Islam is a way of life as I posted on another thread. There is much u need to know about. U were only interested in the spiritual aspect of it being affected with the Hindu and Buddihsm approach.

I suggest u do take Faris advice and make sure u put your heart and intention into this.

Also before going to sleep, put both of your hands in front of your mouth, read the supplication I gave u seeking Allah's protection against satan, then blow in your hands and wipe off all of your body as much as u can reach from front and behind. Do this three times and go to sleep.

Faris, I m sure u r aware that not all of the dreams are weapons of satan and that u know about the hadeeth. I think this is a good topic that deserves to start a thread in order to explain it. Insh aAllah i will start it on Islam room.
