Mohammad, prophet or cult leader ? - Guest - 10-25-2003 Quote:Originally posted by SisterJennifer Hi HabibHibee,I'm not looking for anything specific, just a general idea of what Islam is and why people follow it, what type of person follows it. Now, obviously I am not going to read the entire Qu'ran but I do reference it and the Hadiths and I have an interest in the history of Islam and Mohammad. just a wee hobby of mine. Hey, are Muslims allowed a hobby ? Mohammad, prophet or cult leader ? - Guest - 10-25-2003 Quote:Originally posted by radiyah Al salam 3ala man itaba3 alhoda.Just a general feedback is fine radiyah. Looking at how Mohammad received a lot of Allahs revelations seems to me to require a certain leap of faith. After all, a lot of the "revelations" were dreams were they not ? Nothing divine in that I would argue. Quote:Originally posted by radiyah Good for you, nothing wrong with that. Quote:Originally posted by radiyah But still I have a mind that makes me think that how can buddist and hindus worship Idols that men sculptured and animals  that are created b by God, or how can there be 2 Gods. I don't understand it either, but then again, why would anyone follow something as equally dubious as a prophet (any one of them) who have revelations only revealed to them. Funny old world, aint it ? Quote:Originally posted by radiyah so tell me what kind of input you want and I will gladly answer, If I got lost somewhere and couldn't find the answer for you I will gladly ask the scholar who is teaching us. Hey that's very kind of you. I will take you up on that. Can I do it via PM or should I post ? I don't have anything specific right now but I have some stuff coming up. Quote:Originally posted by radiyah your concern is very touching but don't worry about me. If the truth is out there, here's hoping it reaches me. But really though I can sort of see being a muslim when born into it but it's marketability as a mainstream religion to non muslims just looks iffy. Particulalry the central character in all of this, Mohammad. Have you read much about his history and the history of his time. Deary me. Mohammad, prophet or cult leader ? - radiyah - 10-25-2003 In the name of Allah the Most Gracious , the Most Merciful. Quote:I don't understand it either, but then again, why would anyone follow something as equally dubious as a prophet (any one of them) who have revelations only revealed to them. Funny old world, aint it ?Well do u beleive in God ? if u do, then how do u think he will ask u to worship him ? Do u think he will come down to u, or any one in this universe bad or good to tell them to worship him? of course not? Y? because God is Devine, Great,Ever-Living , he is up in the heavens, sitting on his throne, no one or nothing is like him he is One, In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious the MOst Merciful. Say (O Muhammad-PBUH) : \"He is Allah, (the) One*Allah-us-Samad[Allah the self-suffucient Masterwhom all creatures need,(he neither eats nor drinks)]*He begets not, nor was he begotten.\"*And there is none co-equal or comparable into Him.\" Holy Quran, Surat Al- Ikhlas 112 : 1,2,3,4 This is proof of his Oneness and to worship no one but God. He created angels from light , the gin from fire and we humans from mud. those he created from light they live in the heavens , doing nothing but praying to God, they dont eat they dont sleep they dont get married they are from NOOR ( light ) they don't make sins, Gin are fire and lived before humans on earth they committed many sins killed each other. And then he created us from mud and water. So if he wants to tell you that u are to worship none but him, he will not come down to you. He will not send Jinns to you, they already disobbeyed God, Neither will he send Angels to you , because the moment u c one you will die. Then whom will he send, he is Just, he will not send u to hell if he did not show u the right way, so what happens then? He sends Messengers, Human Messengers, and they are picked and chosen humans(who are known in their times to have vry high Morals), who are strong in their beleifes clean and pure in heart, never lied never sinned, and they descened from very high and respectful origin(and God knows best whom to chose, he knows everything and sees everything). These are all messengers of God and does he talk to them face to face of course not he send his Angel messsenger to them(mostly Gabriel),( they are strong enough not to die when they see him)(They come to them looking as human beings mostly). These Messengers started from the very begining of us living on earth, because human beings are disloyal to God who created them and began to worship idols and creatures. So you see messengers are not ordinary Human beings, they should be devine or otherwise how can they be messengers. Here I am not defending Prophet Mohammad only, but also other Prophets (PBUT) all, you don't beleive in them being devine because you took a wrong Idea about them in the bible, you should read the true stories about them. And you are not to say about prophets that they are dubious, if you have doubts about them you should clear these doubts by reading and studying. So as I told you before that is if u beleive in God? Quote:Just a general feedback is fine radiyah. Looking at how Mohammad received a lot of Allahs revelations seems to me to require a certain leap of faith. After all, a lot of the \"revelations\" were dreams were they not ? Nothing divine in that I would argue. No most revelations came straight from God by Gabriel the Angel, and the dreams you call, when prophets see them they are revelations. Quote:Hey that's very kind of you. I will take you up on that. Can I do it via PM or should I post ? I don't have anything specific right now but I have some stuff coming up.Well let's have it in post right now and c what u have . Quote:your concern is very touching but don't worry about me. If the truth is out there, here's hoping it reaches me.U r welcome, but it is my duty as a muslim to tell and show u the truth, then it is up to u if u beleive or not. And yes I read everything about prophet Mohammad, we studied about him since we were young, and the more we grow and the more we learn about him, we are sure and positive he is the messenger of God and the more we love him. BUT WE DO NOT WORSHIP HIM. Is this sentence clear, he calls us to worship one God , no sun no fire no cow, no human , no idols , JUst God Allmighty , so y we not beleive he is messenger of God. Start with one thing, clear your mind from the hate that is filled in you towards Prophet Mohammad, and start reading a true biography, a true history from true sources, and please stop being lazy and just picking bits and pieces, that is if you are trully looking for the truth. I know it was a long post, but I hope you see a bit of light between the lines and start searching truly for the truth. May God Allmighty show you the light, and whatever questions you have , Inshaa Allah by God's assistance I will answer, or I will search for you the answer. La Illah Ila Allah Mohammad Rasool Allah P.S (If I am late in response, is because Ramadan is on monday and I will be a bit busy, but don't worry eventually I will respond) Mohammad, prophet or cult leader ? - Guest - 10-27-2003 Quote:Originally posted by radiyah Well do u beleive in God ? I guess you could say I am agnostic towards the existence of God. I won't disect your whole post but I still don't see anything divine in any of the organised religions. It's the same old dogma throughout and I think the main influences of the religious leaders of the time were just playing on peoples superstitions. Now if there is a God, I would give him a bit more credit than what some of these prophets have passed onto us as his words. From what I have read of any relgious beliefs I can pretty much reject them as dogma, superstition and power struggles. I think things got a bit warped along the way. |
