Why are we always threatened? - honeycomb - 04-08-2004 its not only americans are threatened. civillians who do not declare war & terrorism are murdered every single day now. its a fact of life. just take a look in iraq, palestine, indonesia, phillipines, etc... war & terrorism doesn't just take american life. i see many muslims die everyday. when a bomb explodes, it's blind of races, creed or religions. to be honest, as a muslim sometimes i feel threatened too when terrorism occurs. bcoz usually, my fellow muslims will be blamed. its sad to my heart. in airports, my ministers are stripped searched unrespectfully... war & terrorism impacts muslims too... Why are we always threatened? - Ibn_kumuna - 04-08-2004 Salaam Alaikum! Firstly, the United States is hardly a Democracy; it's a consitutional republic. I don't think a "pure" democractic government is pratical (Locke inquired into that a while back). Why are we hunted? Easy! Islam is now seen as the "new" world threat. Like Communism of old, Islam is not looking down at the barrel of the "US" gun. Personally, it's a hubris form of fear that the west has upon the Islamic world. Take some of the nit-pick events in the news and tell me if it's not fear. It seems like an odd generalization of Americans. Until this, I was never suspect of your open mind. Am I to believe this is Islam? this is the true religion? Why are we always threatened? - phatmonky - 04-09-2004 Quote:Originally posted by bent-alislam asalaam alla man etabaa alhuda:From your single post I have been told: I am hated everywhere. The US is the sole ruiner of numerous great civilizations. ALL nations hate me. Open my eyes, but don't argue (question) anything The US supports Israel and that's a bad thing Palestinians are just defending themselves. I apparently have no clue about any of this I am asleep(apparently, until I agree with you) Sooooo, let's begin (and sometime I wonder why I touch some of this with a ten foot pole). First, I am not hated everywhere, unless you are going to propose to me that anti-americanism polls are drastically wrong and my experiences in other countries was one big international coverup to make me feel welcome all over so that I would spend my evil American dollars (that I stole from everyone). You then will have to prove to me that my friends from other continents come allllll the way around the world to visit me and my country just so they can keep up this illusion, and not because they do not hate me. Then you will have to show me that my (personal and/or collective) has been the sole, main, and only reason for great pain to the entire world. To make this point valid, you need to follow that up with showing why that is a greater bad than the resulting good. Now, show me that all nations (populous? government officials?) hate me. Now, you will have to REALLY try hard to explain this one. I am trying to open my eyes without arguing, but it must be this darn American ingrained want to question and learn that keeps me arguing instead of just accepting you as truth. Now, we are all educated on Israel (I'm assuming we'll take balfour forward as modern Israeli history?), so perhaps you can explain to me the problem with a two state solution, instead of the popular choice on this board of wiping the country off the face of the map. The idea of "Israel has no right to that land" is about as invalid as saying Iraq has no right to it's land. Afterall, the country didn't exist until the last century just like Isreal. Perhaps the Kurds really do deserve their own country back, according to you? So skipping the logical fallacy that a recognized country shouldn't exist because you say so, why should a two state solution not be approached? On anytime line, anything can be proven. If you want to play the "chicken and the egg " game, one could argue that the Arab protests against LEGAL jewish settlement was the first act of aggression. I suggest you do a quick read on the hatfields and the mccoys. They were a infamous feuding family that went on for generations over....a stolen pig if I remember right. Now, if someone steals a pig and both sides fight for generations (long after the original theif is dead), are you honestly going to tell me that the offspring is to blame? Both sides are at fault. I am supposed to play dumb at this point because I have no idea what I am talking about, and am ignorant of everything around me. I am not asleep at this point, but I think I am off to bed. I await your reply, and wish you all a great evening Why are we always threatened? - phatmonky - 04-09-2004 Quote:Originally posted by Hazam'sBro Why are the 'people' of America always threatened. As if we can control what our government does. Most of us don't even watch the events in the world. It is just sad to see that the 'people' of the U.S. are targeted for no good reasonOne more thing before I go, since I see no one wants to mention it. The veto over the resolution was because we asked that in the same resolution that Hamas, and others, be condemned for their equally heinous actions. We ask for both sides to be given blame. I can't even seem to get that middle ground here on this board. Why are we always threatened? - Amatullah - 04-09-2004 I want to comment on few things but I am kind of tired now (time for bed ... I will write my comments later insha Allah, but before I go I wanted to clearify one point: We don't hate the American people who do not fight us, we hate the corrupt US government... Bush and his clan. Allah tells us to be good to people who are good to us and do not fight us (translation of the meaning): "8. Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who deal with equity.. 9. It is only as regards those who fought against you on account of religion, and have driven you out of your homes, and helped to drive you out, that Allah forbids you to befriend them. And whosoever will befriend them, then such are the Zalimun (wrong-doers those who disobey Allah). (60:8-9) Why are we always threatened? - NaSra - 04-09-2004 it must be kept in mind that today in the world the nation that has killed innocent men, women, children, elderly, the poor and the weak and is still killing and has oppressed them and is still oppressing, more than anyone else, is the illegitimite culprit entity of zionist/jewish subhumans in palestine, and the pirate US government who along with the terrorist CIA organisation and the SS Gestapo Pentagon, are supporting this illegitimite zionist entity in all avenues and have caused much evil and vice to ripe and spread in weak and poor nations. and then you wonder why you are "always" threatened? Learn your history and all the evil things you've been working on. Maybe than you'll realise why people start shouting "death to america" why you are hated...etc. or perhaps maybe you americans should stop voting for Mindless Presidents that keep putting you in trouble, and STOP mudering innocent People and calling it "fighting terrorism"! Btw why does the majority vote for such evil men as presidents, what does that say about you americans? I don't mean to generalize or anything just wondering. Why are we always threatened? - Dan - 04-11-2004 Bismillah As salam alaikum My dearest Phat, (I am only being silly. I hope that you do not take me for condecending... not my intention.) I am an American, from the "heartland" if you will. I made my statement playing upon his statement alluding to how Americans just do not have time to research issues and that they are so hard working, implying that other people do not work as hard. As an American, I also feel that I can say anything that I want because it is part of living in this country. I do not include where my home country is on my information for the exact purpose that this conversation showed. He assumed that I was from elsewhere and got mad at my accusations thinking that I had no idea what I was talking about. I know how it feels to be generalized from both sides of my background. Brothers will ask me why Americans do such and such. Americans will ask me why muslims do such and such. I always tell them first off that I am not the representative of either Americans or Muslims. I am me and I can give the opinions that I have. On that note, I think that you will see that I have really yet to furnish my opinion on this topic. I was only trying to help someone open thier eyes to the possibility that others may be right. In past discourses with others on the board, I more than readily accept being wrong when I am provided with the information that refutes my stance. I was frustrated with the complete lack of dialogue and responded harshly. I probably should not have done that. I can always ignore posts. Allah Forgive me for my lack of patience. I appreciate your presence on the board. If I have not explained my comment then please let me know and I will try to clarify. "What is matter? Nevermind. What is the mind?
