lifutushi,

Do you really think that they can just pack up their belongings and catch the next plane out of Baghdad? I mean, serious question. Do you think that that's all there is to it?

laian,

Thanks for adding your perspective. Makes you really think about and consider both sides of the issue.

laian, that's so sad... i don't know what to say, Allah Knows Best. i hope the iraqis will achieve their own government & live in peace, while the foreign troops go home & u can meet ur brother safely. actually to me, the war shouldn't have happened in the first place. US troops shouldn't have attacked & invade a sovereign Iraq, unilaterally, under false pretense at that (US has now concluded no WMD existed).

so it's not really Iraqis fault... Americans should really blame their government, rather the insurgents, for putting their sons & family in a nonsensical war... to blame iraqis for their deaths? logically, US is the invading army. if Americans find it OK to attack & kill another nation far off unilaterally, for an imagined attack (the supposed WMDs), then why not the Iraqis attacking the US soldier that HAS attacked & killed his Iraq, in Iraqi soil, & that's the in the reality?

& after Abu Ghraib, false intelligence etc... US now has no credibility in the war...

it's so sad... i really don't want to add ur grief, but i just feel US can't really blame insurgents for attacking them, because US did it too in the first place, without any reasonable, true justifications at that. at least the insurgents have a justification, somewhat...

though there's an old saying "2 elephants quarrel & the ants die between them". i guess ur brother is trapped in the situation, but so does many iraqis & their childs & babies. being a little naive, i just hope US will seek forgiveness -- maybe that can clear some air & help, someway. still, Allah Knows Best...

anyway, about the unveiling, the Americans can get female soldiers to unveil her. that would be OK, isn't it? just my thoughts... correct me if I'm mistaken.. [Image: smile.gif]

Assalamu alaikum honeycomb,

Yes you are absolutely right. I blame Bush and the U.S. government completely for all the horror that has happened in Iraq, both to Americans and Iraqis and, as you said, anyone else caught in between.

I was disgusted to hear him rationalizing the death of 20 U.S. soldiers by saying they were "on a mission of peace." like that supposedly makes their death worthwhile, and it's probably not even true in the first place.

And of course there are many many more deaths than that so far.

Alhamdulillah, my brother is stationed in the southern-most part of Iraq, which I have recently learned has no fighting or danger there, it is only in the northern parts where there is the danger of attacks. So alhamdulillah, inshaAllah he will be safe this time anyway, but he still has 2 more times he has to go back to iraq before his service is over. InshaAllah I hope he survives it.

What I was saying earlier is that I understand how the soldiers feel, as individuals when they see something that may pose a threat to them, in individual situations like that of course they are only thinking of their own safety, so I cannot really blame them for their actions (although this particular soldier could have acted more appropriately). But in the long run, it is the government's fault for putting them there in the first place.

May Allah help us all.
