Assalm allikum,
Yes streaching open you mouth can be quiet could. But when you yawn it opens up the soft pallet. I guess this exercise was uesed more for when you act you need a free open mouth to talk.
So does any one have any more etiquette things to add.

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Avoid sitting on the roadsides. They (his Companions) said: Allah's Messenger, there is no other alternative (but to sit here) as this is where we hold our meetings and discuss matters. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: If you have to sit at all, then fulfill the rights of the road. They said: What are these rights? Thereupon he said: Keeping the eye downward , refraining from doing harm to others, exchanging mutual greetings and commanding the good and forbidding the evil.

ur defintion of yarning (exercise)was funny.But like Musalimah said to cover when yawning is sunnath . Any wording of our prophet shouldn,t be taken lightly.u know that there r so manyways to enter jahanam(hell)but only one way to enter jannath(heaven)that is to follow ProphetMohamed(S.A.W).it is proved that following sunnath help our health.
