The Quran was the first major document to say that Jesus wasn't crucified and that "somebody else" was crucified. How many people actually witnessed the crucifiction? Hundreds? Thousands? Jesus in the Quran? - umm Zachariah - 04-21-2006 Bismillah Peace Curious Well, it seems we got a bit out of line from the original question of yours about Jesus pbuh in the Islamic teachings with the last inputs. If we go into 'sons' and 'anointed one' we will not stay on the Islamic path of who Jesus pbuh is in Islam. I see another question has come up, about the crucifixion. I may be repeating the verse but cannot be helped. ''That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not'' 4:157 To me that is nothing strange about that, since Allah SWT can make anything happen. To have people look alike, twins, tripplets and even more and strangers that has no connection look alike, well it is nothing strange at all. So as the verse says, it appeared to those present that it was Jesus pbuh, since the person looked like him. Peace Arclight Well even if you 'scratch you head' I think you have already answered your own question, but you may not see it. ''Behold! Allah said: "O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute. '' The Qur'an 3:55 ''Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise;- And there is none of the People of the Book but must believe in him before his death; and on the Day of Judgment he will be a witness against them'' The Qur'an 4:158-159 The resurrection, the Judgment Day is still to come for all of us, when we all will be gathered before Him. And Jesus pbuh will have some things to say at that time. ''And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah'?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden.'' The Qur'an 5:116 And Jesus pbuh will also be one of the signs when Judgment Day is approaching: ''And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way.'' The Qur'an 43:61 Jesus in the Quran? - wel_mel_2 - 04-29-2006 Bismillah: Quote:Well...in the NT there is no contradiction about who was crucified...it was Christ. Assalamo Alikum everyone. Curious... i wonder if you have red Chapter 5 in the book of Hebrews!!!! please pay attention to Hebrews 5:7: Hebrews 5 1 Every high priest is selected from among men and is appointed to represent them in matters related to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2 He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness. 3 This is why he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of the people. 4 No one takes this honor upon himself; he must be called by God, just as Aaron was. 5 So Christ also did not take upon himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father. 6 And he says in another place, "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." 7 During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8 Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10 and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek. so if any other verse from the same Bible saying that Jesus died on the cross will contradict Hebrews 5:7, so far we agree with Hebrews 5:7 that God saved Jesus pbuh from death. Alhamdulelah. of course you can check the above verses from your own Bible. these verses were taken from the New International Version of the Bible (NIV). Salam Wael. Jesus in the Quran? - Curious Christian - 04-29-2006 Quote:Bismillah: Wel mel.... You are completely wrong. This verse does not contradict any other verse regarding Jesus' death on the cross, resurrection from the dead and accession into heaven. Jesus conquered death. He was saved from death. He rose from the dead after 3 days and after 40 days ascended into heaven. I can, if you want, post about 100 verses confirming this from the Bible both OT and NT...However, I don't think I have to. If by posting a verse from the book of Hebrews you aknowledge Hebrew's divine inspiration then surley you'll admit, based on the book of Hebrews alone, that Christ is the son of God, was crucified and is the creator of the world and the only path to salvation. Hebrews 2 5-18 Quote:5It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. 6But there is a place where someone has testified: Quote:Hebrews 6 Hebrews 9 Quote:11When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation. 12He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. 13The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death,[c] so that we may serve the living God! If you read Hebrews and, in fact the entire Holy Bible the message is clear. Christ lives forever. Jesus in the Quran? - wel_mel_2 - 04-30-2006 Quote:Wel mel.... i dont know how it is not contradicted the other verses... he prayed to not to die and God heard his prayers, no interpretation needed. i also can post more than 100 verses from the Bible to prove that jesus never die but this is not our topic, you were asking about Jesus in the Qur'an so let us focus on this topic. Quote:If you read Hebrews and, in fact the entire Holy Bible the message is clear. Christ lives forever. also if you read Hebrews and in fact the entire Bible there is another message that is more clear, Melchisedec lives forever. not only that but he was "Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God...." Quote:i also can post more than 100 verses from the Bible to prove that jesus never died but this is not our topic Really??? Thats funny. We could both post verses from the bible that point to Christ "living forever" and "being saved from death" but that doesn't say he didn't suffer the cross. If Christ hadn't risen from the dead than all would be in vain. You don't think that there are verses in the Quran that appear to contradict eachother to the unbeliever??? Or maybe mathamatical and scientific errors which are exposed??? And you are right, this thread was about Jesus in the Quran. However I can't sit back and watch somebody make such foolish comments about Christ and quote the Bible. I wouldn't go through the Quran and pick verses which show contradiction and throw them up as fact...if I had a question about those verses I'd ask on this board. The verse also mentioned that he was not born and will never die, without beginning and without end... this is the quality of God Almighty alone and no one else. And if Jesus is being worshiped because of the same thing, then why not Melchisedec ? Quote:You don't think that there are verses in the Quran that appear to contradict eachother to the unbeliever??? Alhamdulelah. They do very well in twisting the words of the Qur'an to suite their desires, i am aware of that but i am sure that the Qur'an contains no errors. Jesus in the Quran? - Faris_Mee - 05-01-2006 Quote:Wel mel.... Truly these creatures exceed the limit. Jesus in the Quran? - Muslimah - 05-01-2006 Bismillah Curious, let us try to get back to your originl quest, which is how Jesus is mentioned in Quran. I think my brothers and sisters did reply to you, however, u raised one point of whether or not he was crucified. In Islam this is a fundamental issue. He was not. Because Allah Willed to plot back against those who plotted against him. "And because of their saying (in sarcastic boast), "We killed Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah," - but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of Jesus was put over another man, and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they did not kill him" (Quran 4:157) The other Ayah that explains this situation is: "And they (disbelievers) plotted [to kill Jesus alayhis-salaam], and Allah planned too. And Allah is the Best of the planners And they (disbelievers) plotted [to kill Jesus alayhis-salaam], and Allah planned too. And Allah is the Best of the planners.* .* And (remember) when Allah said: "O Jesus! I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you [of the forged statement that Jesus is Allah's son] of those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you (Monotheists, who worship none but Allah) superior to those who disbelieve [in the Oneness of Allah, or disbelieve in some of His Messengers, e.g. Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, etc., or in His Holy Books, e.g. the Torah, the Gospel, the Qur’an] till the Day of Resurrection. Then you will return to Me and I will judge between you in the matters in which you used to dispute." (Quran 3:55) With all due respect to the translator who out of sinere piety and much respect to Allah didnt use the word Allah Plotted and Allah Is the best One Who makes plots. If we want to be more precise, the first Ayah say they cunned against, and Allah Cunned back and Allah Is the best Cunner. I dont want really to get off topic, but this part is worth explaining, some people avoid to explain or translate this part as such in fear of being criticised of how can Allah Describe Himself with the adjective of cunning. Well Allah Does so to those who desrve it, Allah Does not use this against those who dont deserve it. In short, there is nothing that Allah Is incapable of fighting back against, even cunning. Thus if u carefully review the Ayah, they cunned against Jesus to kill him, will Allah Stand still and let His Prophet face this destiney, no way, Allah Cunned back, not only that Allah Saved him in a miraculous manner by rasing him even before the scheduled time of crucifixion, but made someone else to resemble him and be put on the cross in a very mocking situation to those who thought they can plot against Allah's Messenger prayer and peace be upon him. Curious, pls note the first Ayah that explains that he was not even put on the cross but rather Allah rescued him which is then futher explained on the second Aysh i posted as that Allah Raised him, but not after being put on the cross. No before. The whole situation was a plot from Allah against the jews, but unfortunately it was misused by those who gathered during a meeting in I think 14 th century to decide the being of Jesus. During that meetings held by a Roman emperor, an Egyptian monk was present, who was still influenced by the polytheistic beliefs in the Egyptina dogma calling for reincarnation and multiple gods. He was the one who carefully inserted the concept of Jesus divinity into the religion. I m sorry if this post is getting long, however, to sum this up look how Allah Describes the invented facts about jesus prayer and peace be upon him (again pls note this is the Islamic stance thru Quran as u requested): "And (remember) when Allah will say (on the Day of Resurrection): "O Jesus, son of Mary! Did you say unto men: 'Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allah?' " He will say: "Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my inner self though I do not know what is in Yours, truly, You, only You, are the All Knower of all that is hidden and unseen." ( Quran 5:116) |
