Question for Muslims - radiyah - 06-16-2004

Quote:Mash aAllah Radiyah is really attending here, but an extra point will not harm.

just a bit of my humble knowledge that Allah the all knowing granted me. [Image: smile.gif]

Joshua, yes as brother spider said u r muslim in a way, but u really need to say the shahadateen and become a true muslim by doing what Allah ordered u to do. Now if u read the Quran, and u beleive in it and in prophet MUhammad(pbuh), then the first thing u should do is to submit to Allah's commands and path, and practice all that he ordered u to do, as Allah Almighty said in the Holy Quran:

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem:

1. Alif-Lâm-Mîm. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ân and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings].

2. This is the Book (the Qur'ân), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqûn [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allâh much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allâh much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)].

3. Who believe in the Ghaib and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and spend out of what we have provided for them [i.e. give Zakât , spend on themselves, their parents, their children, their wives, etc., and also give charity to the poor and also in Allâh's Cause - Jihâd, etc.].

4. And who believe in (the Qur'ân and the Sunnah) which has been sent down (revealed) to you (Muhammad Peace be upon him ) and in [the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] which were sent down before you and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter. (Resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell, etc.).

5. They are on (true) guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful.

Allah Almighty here tells us that the Quran is the only book, with no doubt is to those who are pious and beleive in his onnes, who perform all good deeds he ordered us to do, then we beleive in the hidden and unseen(which only Allah Almighty knows about), then we must perform the prayers the daily prayers, pay zakat, beleive in prophet Muhammad(Pbuh) and his Sunnah, and all the prophets before him, may peace and blessings be upon them, and beleive in the judgement day, these are the true beleivers and they are on the right path, and those are the ones that will enter JANNAH as Allah Almighty said.

u will c at the end of the above thread that true Islam is :

Islam is built upon five (pillars): Testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing the prayer, giving Zakah, fasting Ramadan and Hajj to the House

so when u perform the above, only then u r a true muslim.

below the rest of the explanation :

I know i put many links for u , but it is the full tafseer of the first 5 ayas, in surrat Al-Baqara, which explains who is a true muslim, what are his beleifs and duties, and if he performs as such he will enter paradise.

So Josh the difference between u and us, is only to perform what Allah ordered u to do.

If your mother asked u to obey her then u must obey her because she gave birth to u and raised u, then if u obey your mother shouldnt u first obey the one who is the reason for your existance, the one who bestowed upon u his various blessings. So why is it so hard to u to say the shahadateen if u truly beleive in the same God we do, and that prophet Muhammad is his messenger, and that the Quran is from Allah.

U know Josh u must pray to God more and ask Allah's guidance to assist u and to strengthen your faith that all the boundries that are facing u to be broken.

I am sorry if I burdened u with my long post, but I really hope that u will understand more when reading the tafseer links I provided, and lastly I pray to Allah the Merciful to enlighten your heart more, so that u will pronounce the shahadateen and become a true muslim.

Allah Almighty here tells us that the Quran is the only book,

Salam alaikum and jazakallah khair

I am a little confused.

In the blue that you wrote (which I quoted from you) Allah says to believe in the Quran AND in the Torah AND ALSO in the Gospel.

But you said the Quran is the only book.....I don't understand. Perhaps I am misreading something.

How is it tha we can believe in both the Quran and the Gospel?? These two books contradict one another:

Quran: Allah has never begotten a son.

Gospel: 'For he so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son'

Many times in the Quran I have read that Allah says the ones who believe in the Gospel, the ones who believe in the Torah, and the ones who believe in the Quran are the ones who are righteous.

This leads one to believe that the Christians are righteous, as are the Jews, and the Muslims as well.

But then Muslims say only the Muslims are righteous.

The Quran also mentions killing Jews, and how the Jews will hide behind rocks, and the rocks will cry out "Here is a Jew!". How can the Jews be both righteous and unbelievers at the same time??

Question for Muslims - Dan - 06-17-2004

Bismillah

As salam alaikum

Muslims believe that Allah sent down all three books but the only book that has remained unchanged for centuries has been the Qur'an. Allah Says that He Will Protect the Qur'an from ever being tainted as past books were. In the Qur'an it also states that jews changed the words of their Lord. If the words are changed then they are no longer from Allah. The Torah and the Gospel that exist today are not in the forms that Allah revealed them.

One example that I found on my own was in my mother's family Bible, quite an old edition. In it Jesus promised that after him the comforter would come after him and teach him about our religion. When I read this, I was amazed. Who else could this be but the Prophet Muhammad? He came after Jesus and taught everything about the religion of Allah, all acts of worship, manners, encompassing all aspects of life. Yet when I went to point out this passage to a friend of mine later, the Bible that they owned had changed the word from comforter to Holy Spirit. So the interpretations of men tainted the Bible's true message. If one believes that Jesus is the end all of the religion then one must do away or tweek the discrepensies that present itself.

Also the four gospels in included in the Bible were not the only ones written. Many people wrote accounts of Jesus' life. Some made him out to be more God than man. Others made him more human than God. The gospel of Barnabas (an apostle) actually portrays Jesus as just a prophet of God. Why were these gospels not included? A council was held to decide which gospels would be perpetuated, a council of men. Once again, humans are deciding how to define the religion that Allah Sent us? Can you see the error in this?

So when muslims say that we believe in the Torah and Gospel and Qur'an, we mean in the forms in which they were revealed, not the altered versions of the Torah and Gospel that are present today.

"Many times in the Quran I have read that Allah says the ones who believe in the Gospel, the ones who believe in the Torah, and the ones who believe in the Quran are the ones who are righteous."

Allah is referring to those who followed the uncorrupted books at their times. He is Also referring to the jews and christians who believed in their message then heard the message of Islam and followed Islam. Jews and christians are rewarded for recognizing the fact that Islam is the finale of the message that Allah has been Sending since the beginning of time.

Those who hear of the message but refuse to follow Islam can be likened to person trying to become a doctor. The jews would be like the student who believes that they already know enough after earning a bachelors degree. Sure they have some knowledge but not enough to be a full doctor. Believing that one can practice medicine at this level can only lead to trouble. The christians would be like those who think they are finished with their education after medical school. They know more than the one who only has only a bachelors but they still have far to go before becoming a full doctor. Muslims are those who understand that all three stages are important but know that without the last part of the education, their knowledge is incomplete which will only result in troubles and possible harm.

Does it seem logical to begin a book so stop reading halfway through and believe that one knows the story?

Insha'Allah this has been helpful. If not for anyone else, it has renewed my faith a bit. Allah Forgive me for the mistakes that I made. Alhamdulillah.

As salam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu

Question for Muslims - radiyah - 06-18-2004

Jazzak Allah khayr brother Dan, I think everything should be clear for Joshua now, if still not clear don't worry we will still help, below ayas also from the Quran which will fortify what Dan calrified :

In the Name of Allah most Gracious Most Merciful,

51. And indeed now We have conveyed the Word (this Qur'ân in which is the news of everything to them), in order that they may remember (or receive admonition).

52. Those to whom We gave the Scripture [i.e. the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] before it, - they believe in it (the Qur'ân).

53. And when it is recited to them, they say: "We believe in it. Verily, it is the truth from our Lord. Indeed even before it we have been from those who submit themselves to Allâh in Islâm as Muslims (like 'Abdullâh bin Salâm and Salmân Al-Farisî, etc.).

54. These will be given their reward twice over, because they are patient, and repel evil with good, and spend (in charity) out of what We have provided them.

So here it says that we prevailed the truth to them and everything is clear and we sent prophet Muhammad to remind them and to correct their mistakes. And those who have the apostle(the correct unchanged versions that are directly from God) who beleived in it before and now we will give them their reward twice for beleiving in the begining and beleivng now.

Well I hope it is more clear now [Image: smile.gif]

wasalam 'alaykom

If I am right it is from Allah, if I am wrong it is from my Ignorance and mistake.

Question for Muslims - Muslimah - 06-19-2004

Jazakum Allah khairan I think things are clear now. I think as I commented on my last post, the issue with Joshua now is being scared to cross the line and formally be committed. Insh a Allah may Allah help u Josh to do it easily.

Adding to what my brother and sister brought forth is u were discussing how can Christians and Jews differ from Muslims. I brough u a partial reply, about the Jews, part of their belief goes like Allah Created skies and earths in 6 days and for becoming tired (may Allah forgive me a`oudh billah) He rested on the 7th. Well is this the God u worship Josh, that is why Quran describes the jews and Chritians as follows:

"1. In the Name of Allâh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

2. All the praises and thanks be to Allâh, the Lord[1] of the ‘Alamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists).[2]

3. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

4. The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)

5. You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything).

6. Guide us to the Straight Way.[3]

7. The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace[4], not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger, nor of those who went astray[5],[6],[7]." (Quran 1). The first underlined Ayah refers to the Jews while the second to Christians.

As I asked u before is this how u believe in God?

About the point u raised of Muslims fighting with Jews, Josh, this is not in Quran, u r confused. U must read it somewhere. This is a hadeeth explaining about the last war between Muslims and Jews.

Hope things are more clear now

With the Help of Allah, I am sure u will come to the right decision

Quote: 1) But you said the Quran is the only book
2) Many times in the Quran I have read that Allah says the ones who believe in the Gospel, the ones who believe in the Torah, and the ones who believe in the Quran are the ones who are righteous.

Allah has sent revelation to thousands of humans throughout history. Some of those revelations were organized bodies of teachings meant to be recorded as "books" whether written or oral to be handed on to future generations. We know the names of five of these books. They are: the scrolls of Ibrahim, (Abraham), the Torah of Musa, (Moses), the Zabur (Psalms) of Dawud, (David), the Injeel of 'Esa (Gospel of Jesus) and the Qur'an of Muhammad (peace be upon them). Only the last book has survived until the present day. All others have been lost or altered so much so that they are all but worthless.

On the second issue

These people don't exsist anymore unfortunately. Allah is addressing the jews of the time of Musa, and the Christians of the time of Isaa, these people were the real believers, they were the " people of the book" that ALLAH was talking about in the Quraan, not the ones we have on this earth they are corrupted and they follow fake books.

The Christians and Jews we have today follow the fabricated books, they accociate partners with Allah and reject Mohamed as the last messanger. That does not make them righteous, that makes them the rejectors of truth.

I can't go near the Quraan at this moment however I hope individuals who are more learned than I, can provide some feedback where Allah clearly refutes the Jews and christians of today.

Al-salam 'alaykom, in the holy Quran there are many ayas showing and explaining how they changed the books that Allah Almighty has send to them, and he stated what their sever punishement will be for changing his words : in Surat Al-Baqara-2 the following ayas:

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al_raheem

139. Say (O Muhammad Peace be upon him to the Jews and Christians), "Dispute you with us about Allâh while He is our Lord and your Lord? And we are to be rewarded for our deeds and you for your deeds. And we are sincere to Him in worship and obedience (i.e. we worship Him Alone and none else, and we obey His Orders)."

140. Or say you that Ibrâhim (Abraham), Ismâ'il (Ishmael), Ishâque (Isaac), Ya'qûb (Jacob) and Al-Asbât [the twelve sons of Ya'qûb (Jacob)] were Jews or Christians? Say, "Do you know better or does Allâh (knows better...; that they all were Muslims)? And who is more unjust than he who conceals the testimony [i.e. to believe in Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him when he comes, written in their Books. (See Verse 7:157)] he has from Allâh? And Allâh is not unaware of what you do."

146. Those to whom We gave the Scripture (Jews and Christians) recognise him (Muhammad or the Ka'bah at Makkah) as they recongise their sons. But verily, a party of them conceal the truth while they know it - [i.e. the qualities of Muhammad which are written in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)].

159. Verily, those who conceal the clear proofs, evidences and the guidance, which We have sent down, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book, they are the ones cursed by Allâh and cursed by the cursers.

160. Except those who repent and do righteous deeds, and openly declare (the truth which they concealed). These, I will accept their repentance. And I am the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.

161. Verily, those who disbelieve, and die while they are disbelievers, it is they on whom is the Curse of Allâh and of the angels and of mankind, combined.

162. They will abide therein (under the curse in Hell), their punishment will neither be lightened, nor will they be reprieved.

174. Verily, those who conceal what Allâh has sent down of the Book, and purchase a small gain therewith (of worldly things), they eat into their bellies nothing but fire. Allâh will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor purify them, and theirs will be a painful torment.

175. Those are they who have purchased error at the price of Guidance, and torment at the price of Forgiveness. So how bold they are (for evil deeds which will push them) to the Fire.

176. That is because Allâh has sent down the Book (the Qur'ân) in truth. And verily, those who disputed as regards the Book are far away in opposition.

So as u c that Allah Almighty warns them from changing or hiding the true scripture sent by him, also Allah states in other verses in Surat Al-Imran-3.

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem:

75. Among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) is he who, if entrusted with a Cantar (a great amount of wealth, etc.), will readily pay it back; and among them there is he who, if entrusted with a single silver coin, will not repay it unless you constantly stand demanding, because they say: "There is no blame on us to betray and take the properties of the illiterates (Arabs)." But they tell a lie against Allâh while they know it.

76. Yes, whoever fulfils his pledge and fears Allâh much; verily, then Allâh loves those who are Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2).

77. Verily, those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allâh's Covenant and their oaths, they shall have no portion in the Hereafter (Paradise). Neither will Allâh speak to them, nor look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them, and they shall have a painful torment.

78. And verily, among them is a party who distort the Book with their tongues (as they read), so that you may think it is from the Book, but it is not from the Book, and they say: "This is from Allâh," but it is not from Allâh; and they speak a lie against Allâh while they know it.

79. It is not (possible) for any human being to whom Allâh has given the Book and Al-Hukma (the knowledge and understanding of the laws of religion, etc.) and Prophethood to say to the people: "Be my worshippers rather than Allâh's." On the contrary (he would say): "Be you Rabbaniyun (learned men of religion who practise what they know and also preach others), because you are teaching the Book, and you are studying it."

80. Nor would he order you to take angels and Prophets for lords (gods). Would he order you to disbelieve after you have submitted to Allâh's Will? (Tafsir At-Tabarî).

81. And (remember) when Allâh took the Covenant of the Prophets, saying: "Take whatever I gave you from the Book and Hikmah (understanding of the Laws of Allâh, etc.), and afterwards there will come to you a Messenger (Muhammad ) confirming what is with you; you must, then, believe in him and help him." Allâh said: "Do you agree (to it) and will you take up My Covenant (which I conclude with you)?" They said: "We agree." He said: "Then bear witness; and I am with you among the witnesses (for this)."

82. Then whoever turns away after this, they are the Fâsiqûn (rebellious: those who turn away from Allâh's Obedience).

These are some ayas explaining the state of the jews and christians, who hide the truth for their own whims and worldly gains, and hiding the truth that prophet Muhammad(pbuh) is the last manager for all humanity. there are others, I think I put enough for now, I do not want to pour everything all at once, but I hope this will clear your confusion now. Joshua, read the ayas carefully, if u do not understand we are still willing to explain more. May Allah the merciful be your guidance to the truth and show u the path of the light that will take u out of darkness to oceans of light and faith.

wasalam 'alaykom wa rahamat Allah [Image: smile.gif]
