Lina, Palestinian Toddler Killed By Israeli "Fright Machine" - Muslimah - 09-27-2003 Lina, Palestinian Toddler Killed By Israeli "Fright Machine" Horror and fright killed this angel (look at pic down) By Ahmed Abu Aqleen, IOL Gaza Correspondent GAZA CITY, September 26 (IslamOnline.net) - Through their tears, the parents of the three-year-old Palestinian Lina Hassan Issa told IslamOnline.net Friday, September 26, about the hours of horror, caused by Israeli helicopters and tank fire, prior to the loss of their toddler who died of "fright". Lina, whose house was adjacent to one of the buildings raided by the occupation army, died of fright during one of the continuous Israeli raids on the Palestinian territories. At dawn Thursday, September 25, a column of 35 Israeli armored vehicles, including tanks, pushed into the Al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, backed up by a helicopter gunship. "It was 3 am, we were all asleep and the house was quiet. Suddenly, I was awakened by the sounds of Israeli Apachi helicopters firing intensively and I knew our neighborhood was the target of a new raid," Lina's father, Hassan, recalled the horrible moments. "Minutes later, the sound of firing grew louder and became deafening. Suddenly, I saw Lina jumping out of her bed and running towards me with the deepest look of horror I have ever seen engraved of her little face. She threw herself in my open arms and started screaming hysterically. "I felt her tiny body shaking and all my attempts to calm her down bore no fruit with the continuous firing outside. Gradually, her body temperature started falling, she stopped screaming and her face became as pale as that of a corpse," he added, through his wet face. It was obvious Hassan himself was on the verge of collapse as he recalled the terrible experience of a father holding his dying child while completely helpless to save his dearest. One may wonder what else could be crueler to a father, any father. After some words of comfort, Hassan could pull himself together to continue. "I tried to rush out of the house to take her to the hospital but that was impossible with the sounds of tank shells and continuous explosions outside. Three hours later, the occupation forces withdrew. I rushed to the hospital, carrying Lina who was then as quiet as dead. "I reached al-Aqsa hospital where the medical staff did their utmost to save her but to no avail. My little angel was killed by the fright her little heart could not handle," he concluded. Sparrow In Paradise At first, I was hesitant to try to speak with Lina's mother who has not yet stopped crying over the loss of her daughter whom she described as "the family angel". "Praise be to Allah, my daughter is now in Paradise just like a little sparrow, God Willing," she said. "Lina was our smile and our joy. She used to fill our gatherings with a cheerful atmosphere with her endless innocence and childish humor. "Before going to bed, she would always kiss us good night and I loved watching her going to bed with her ever smiling face. I always wondered about the sweet dreams she ought to be seeing in her sleep," she added. Lina was the fourth among her siblings. The oldest (Hamouda) is 5 and the youngest (Asmaa) is one Lina, Palestinian Toddler Killed By Israeli "Fright Machine" - AhmedSyed - 10-06-2003 Oh man... Sad, so sad.. I can't read Arabic so maybe I am missing the message? Lina, Palestinian Toddler Killed By Israeli "Fright Machine" - Muslimah - 10-09-2003 True Michelle a very sad story, it is not the first and it will not be the last, two years ago there was a tragice one when they killed Mohamed Al Dorah right in front of his father's eyes, may be I can find u something about him. The fast food banner is a call to us to apply boycott on US american products which we are doing on a popular basis, nothing formal or governmental just Muslim people most of them u may say 70% don't consume US products we seek alternatives. Now u know;) Lina, Palestinian Toddler Killed By Israeli "Fright Machine" - MichelleSeeking - 10-09-2003 Thanks for the translation! I was confused. The Western world NEEDS to hear these sad stories about Palestinian loss. All we hear about over here is Israeli losses. The newspapers, TV, and radio stations are constantly reporting about "Palestinian suicide bombers kill Iraelies" yet we hardly hear a thing about Israeli raids and curfews and how the Palestinian people are going without water or electricity. Now, about how Palestinian babies die of sheer terror. Good grief!! If these stories do make it to the papers they are printed way in the back pages, not on the front pages like Israeli losses. Just this morning I was listening to the National Public Radio and heard all about another Palestinian suicide bombing. Yes, I was very sad for the Israeli losses - but there was nothing said Palestinian losses due to Israli agression. There's no balance. I do not support Palestinian suicide bombers or any other Palestinian attacks on human beings. That is why I cannot turn around and support Israely attacks on human beings. It's not right to point fingers at one side and ignore the same crimes coming from the other side. I'm going to share a very controversial thought which just might get me attacked on this forum, but I can't help but let it out: Maybe these problems wouldn't exist if Israel hadn't been created through stealing land... If Israel steals land from people, are we to expect that those people will just walk away? Look at what happened here in America back in the days when Americans were stealing Native American land. The media demonized the Indians and canonized the Americans. Under such light it was perfectly ok to go and take land from the violent, ignorant "heathens". I see this same additude towards Palestine. "Only a few nomadic herders wandered the land." I'm often told. "So it's not like the Israelies stole anything." Really? I try and put myself in their shoes. How would I like it if the Russians came over here to Alaska and started stealing land where "only a few nomadic Eskimos wander around"? And then they took more...and more...until they owned plots of land that separated one Eskimo village from another. Then they put up fences, set up armed road blocks, and created curfews where folks could be shot dead if they were outside past the curfew. On top of that, they would periodically shut down water and electricity in the Eskimo villages for weeks at a time and raid the villages with Apache helicopters, machine guns, and tanks. Meanwhile they decided to erect a huge wall to further block off access to what used to be American land. Hmmmmm....I don't think I'd like that one bit! So why should the Palestinians? Unless I'm totally missing something here....Did the Israelis own the land first, then the Palestinians stole the land, and the Israelies had to steal it back? Is that the case? It wasn't until more then 100 years passed that the truth started to come through about Native Americans and how their land was stolen by force. Now we see movies and read books that tell all about how civilized and organized the Native Americans were - and how they had owned the land for thousands of years until it was forcefully stolen from them. Oooops! Ooops, but oh well - they aren't getting their land back. We stole it fair and square and it's been such a long time that now it's ours. Is this what will happen in Palestine/Israel? 100 years from now everyone will learn the truth and say, "Oh gee sorry about that." I think that if the media wants to give us fair coverage of the Israeli/Palestine issue they should report about both sides. For every "suicide bomber" story there should be a story about raids, broken curfews, dead children, and the like - on the front page of the newspapers. I didn't know that such a powerful boycott was taking place. Is it having any effect? What is the goal? |
