~your Favorite Nasheeds~ - NaSra - 10-01-2004 Asalamalaykum I am a huge fan of Sami Yusuf's NasheedS, Here is my favorite NaSheed by Sami Yusuf title of nasheed: Al-Mualim To listen: http://www.radioawakening.com/AudioLinks/S...-Mu%27allim.ram To watch the Video: http://www.paradise-way.net/modules.php?key=Sami%20Yusuf&tab=Anasheed&col=nomr Lyrics of AL-MUALIM: We once had a Teacher The Teacher of teachers, He changed the world for the better And made us better creatures, Oh Allah, we’ve shamed ourselves We’ve strayed from Al-Mu'allim, Surely here we’ve wronged ourselves What will we say in front him? Oh Mu'allim... Chorus He was Muhammad salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam, Muhammad, mercy upon Mankind, He was Muhammad salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam, Muhammad, mercy upon Mankind, Teacher of all Mankind. Abal Qasim [one of the names of the Prophet] Ya Habibi, Ya Muhammad (My beloved, Oh Muhammad) Ya Shafi'i, Ya Muhammad (My intercessor, Oh Muhammad) Khayru khalqillahi Muhammad (The best of Allah’s creation is Muhammad) Ya Mustafa, Ya Imamal Mursalina (Oh Chosen One, Oh Imam of the Messengers) Ya Mustafa, Ya Shafi'al 'Alamina (Oh Chosen One, Oh intercessor of the worlds) He prayed while others slept While others ate he’d fast, While they would laugh he wept Until he breathed his last, His only wish was for us to be Among the ones who prosper, Ya Mu'allim peace be upon you, Truly you are our Teacher, Oh Mu'allim... (Chorus) Ya Habibi, Ya Muhammad (My beloved, Oh Muhammad) Ya Shafi'i, Ya Muhammad (My intercessor, Oh Muhammad) Ya Rasuli, Ya Muhammad (Oh My Messenger, Oh Muhammad) Ya Bashiri, Ya Muhammad (Oh bearer of good news, Oh Muhammad) Ya Nadhiri, Ya Muhammad (Oh warner, Oh Muhammad) 'Ishqu Qalbi, Ya Muhammad (The love of my heart, Oh Muhammad) Nuru 'Ayni, Ya Muhammad (Light of my eye, Oh Muhammad) He taught us to be just and kind And to feed the poor and hungry, Help the wayfarer and the orphan child And to not be cruel and miserly, His speech was soft and gentle, Like a mother stroking her child, His mercy and compassion, Were most radiant when he smiled (Chorus) Abal Qasim [one of the names of the Prophet] Ya Habibi, Ya Muhammad (My beloved, Oh Muhammad) Ya Shafi'i, Ya Muhammad (My intercessor, Oh Muhammad) Khayru khalqillahi Muhammad (The best of Allah’s creation is Muhammad) Ya Mustafa, Ya Imamal Mursalina (Oh Chosen One, Oh Imam of the Messengers) Ya Mustafa, Ya Shafi'al 'Alamina (Oh Chosen One, Oh intercessor of the worlds) MashaAllah Sami Yusuf has the voice of an Angel, very beautiful. All of you Nasheed Addicts out there, Post your Favorite heartmoving soul-touching Nasheeds...share it with me Your Sister In Islam ~your Favorite Nasheeds~ - NaSra - 10-05-2004 Quote: I'm not sure what a Nasheed is but these are two of my favorite songs. Salams Magadeth The word Nasheed in Arabic means raising the voice when reciting verse and making the voice sound beautiful and gentle. Nasheeds usually are in praise of Allah or the prophets. Reminding people to be on the straight path. Even though there is no better caller-to-guidence then the glorious holy quraan but nasheeds are permissable in islam whereas music is not. Things that aren't allowed to be in nasheeds are: musical instruments but the daff is ok (some scholars differ on whether the daff is permissable or not) Allah knows best. should not be recited by women or include haraam or obscene speech They should not resemble the tunes of the people of immorality and promiscuity There can be more but thats all I can think of now. I really liked the lyrics you posted, it's interesting to see that there are people in the west who actually sing about something nice other then sex/drugs/alcohol and money. ~your Favorite Nasheeds~ - lifutushi - 10-06-2004 Assalamualaykum.... another song that i really love, by Dawud Wharnsby Ali, What Did I Do Today: Oh the moon has come The day is done The night has covered up the sun. I have stood so often before you to pray But I wonder Allah, tell me, what did I do today? Did I remember the words of Al-Fatiha? Did I take time to thank you for all that I have? Did I call on you to guide my way? Tell me, what did I do today? I has whispered to you As I made ruku Subhana Rabiy'yal adheem. But was my faith Bright or grey? Oh Allah, tell me, what did I do today? Did I smile at my brother? Was I kind to my mother? Did I teach another something that I know Or did my love of this world lead me astray? Tell me, what did I do today? Sami Allah hu liman hamida Rabanna lakal hamd. Sami Allah hu liman hamida Rabanna lakal hamd. La illaha il Allah. La illaha il Allah. Though I've bowed to you with my face in the dust, subhana raby'yal a'la Did I turn to you And did I obey? Oh Allah, tell me, what did I do today? Did I use my mind? Did I use my time? If I search my heart what will I find? The light of your guidance is a glimmering ray, Tell me, what did I do toady? Oh Allah, tell me, what did I do today? ~your Favorite Nasheeds~ - NaSra - 10-09-2004 oh Please post only Nasheeds, I started this thread only for Nasheeds. Not for Hard core rock etc, I feel like I am responsible for for this thread, So please post only Nasheeds if you can. FeeSabiLiLah inshaAllah. Jezekelah khayran ~your Favorite Nasheeds~ - Muslimah - 10-20-2004 I know I thought of deleting the lyrics but saw they were not harmful what do u think Aref and Nasrah should I delet them??? ~your Favorite Nasheeds~ - NaSra - 10-26-2004 Feel free to do so Sister, Last I checked Metallica wasn’t part of the Nasheed category anyway No offence lifutushi I just can't stand them lifutushi, Yesterday for the first time I saw Dawud Wharnsby Ali on a video recite some Nasheeds, I have been listening to his Nasheeds for awhile and my favorite one is "the veil", I never knew that he was a revert to islam. Listen here "the veil" http://www.unc.edu/depts/europe/conference...l2K/theveil.ram Lyrics of "the veil" They say, "Oh, poor girl, you're so beautiful you know It's a shame that you cover up your beauty so." She just smiles and graciously responds reassuringly, "This beauty that I have is just one simple part of me. This body that I have, no stranger has the right to see. These long clothes, this shawl I wear, ensure my modesty. Faith is more essential than fashion, wouldn't you agree? This hijab, This mark of piety, Is an act of faith, a symbol, For all the world to see. A simple cloth, to protect her dignity. So lift the veil from your heart to see the heart of purity. They tell her, "Girl, don't you know this is the West and you are free? You don't need to be opressed, ashamed of your femininity." She just shakes her head and she speaks so assuredly, "See the bill-boards and the magazines that line the check-out isles, with their phony painted faces and their air-brushed smiles? Well their sheer clothes and low cut gowns are really not for me. You call it freedom, I call it anarchy." This hijab, This mark of piety, Is an act of faith, a symbol, For all the world to see. A simple cloth, to protect her dignity. So lift the veil from your heart to see the heart of purity. Lift the veil from your heart and seek the heart of purity. ~your Favorite Nasheeds~ - umm Zachariah - 10-26-2004 Assalamu aleikum sister Intuition, When you stated this thread I had no idea who or what text you were referring to, today I know, it has became my favourite.
