All praise is to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger, a big fuss and attacks were made in the media these days against scholar Sheikh Al-Munjid for his fatwa, and making fun of it, while not understanding the essence of his message and what he means of it, just as he said" as if mickey mouse is a real person", here is his response and in english, as he speaks English fluently

I m not surprised as the western media is taking this position, what is new?? How can someone take the Sheikh's explanation about the Islamic ruling against rodents and how we should handle it and turn it into a source of mocking like he is an insane person painting the image of Muslim scholars as such. But yet again, this is exactly again and again what the Quran say. We must realise this fact.
Allah Say:
"You shall certainly be tried and tested in your wealth and properties and in your personal selves, <b>and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Scripture before you (Jews and Christians) and from those who ascribe partners to Allah, but if you persevere patiently, and become pious then verily, that will be a determining factor in all affairs</b>, and that is from the great matters, [which you must hold on with all your efforts]." (Quran 3: 186)

Thus, if they continue mocking symbols of Islam, this is only normal and expected otherwise, they will have an allegation saying O your Quran say this about us but we didnt. Note that Allah Is The Accurate. Allah Say from those who received scripture and non believers, the preposition used in Arabic is Min, which serves a double purpose here which is from and also serves to coin that not from all of them but some of them. Certainly among them, there is a party that fully realises the misleading media approaches. Me personally I met qutie a few of them. The bottom line is that even this is in the interest of Islam, a clear proof that Quran is from Allah. Let them mock and Alhamdulelah we are Muslims.

The above is a link to Dan's comment. Based on this, the news paper corrected its position.
Insh a Allah he is going to send me an update which I will post here. Contrary to the position of someone like Johndoe's, there are non Muslim American sensible people. BTW, I know Dan Bernard personally, he and his family visited me in my house and found me a normal human being I think :)

For those who would like to follow the topic, the journalist was honest and courageous enough to post an update correcting the info. You click the link above, and go to the section with Micky mouse incon. You will find a word: <b>UPDATE:
</b>. The phrase posted after this word is the reaction to the correction he recieved.
I think for him being a journalist, this is part of journalism code of ethics, to publish the opinion and whatever info he receives about it to be impartial.
