  I am not cryin because
Posted by: -Umm_Abdullah- - 06-14-2007, 02:39 PM - Forum: "And remind for reminding benefit the believers - Replies (1)

“I am not crying because…”

A man reached 70 years of age and he faced a disease; he could not urinate. The doctors informed him that he was in need of an operation to cure this disease. He agreed to have the operation done as the problem was giving him much pain for days. When the operation was completed, his doctor gave him the bill which covered all the costs. The old man looked at the bill and started to cry. Upon seeing this the doctor told him that if the cost was too high then they could make some other arrangements. The old man said “I am not crying because of the money but I am crying because Allah let me urinate for 70 years and He never sent me a bill.”

<b><i></i></b>

…and if you try to count the blessings of Allah, never will you be able to count them… Surah Ibrahim

Allah states that the servants are never able to count His blessings, let alone thank Him duly for them. In Sahih Al-Bukhari it is recorded that the Messenger of Allah( Peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate;

<b></b>

«اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيَ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبَّنَا»

<i></i>

O Allah ! All praise is due to You, without being able to sufficiently thank You, nor ever wish to be cutoff from You, nor ever feeling rich from relying on You; our Lord!

It was reported that Prophet Dawud peace be upon him, used to say in his supplication, <i>“O Lord! How can I ever duly thank You, when my thanking You is also a favor from You to me” </i> Allah the Exalted answered him, <i>“Now, you have thanked Me sufficiently, O Dawud,” </i> meaning, `when you admitted that you will never be able to duly thank Me.’

  Aliyah & Jameela
Posted by: amma - 06-11-2007, 02:21 PM - Forum: Usama - Replies (4)

Aliyah & Jameela

Ali has been sent down for 18 months for selling Cannabis and Jamal has gone to Egypt to study Islam. In their place we have:

Jameela: Asalaam alaikum sister. I haven’t seen you in time.

Aliyah: You’ll never guess who just asked me out!!!

Jameela: Who?

Aliyah: Iky baby!!!!!!

Jameela: Ikram? The one who looks like Sonic the Hedgehog? Why you messing around with that good- for- nothing unemployed dosser. All he does is drive round the same block 50 times a day!

Aliyah: What-ever! You’re just jealous innit. I’m meeting him in ‘Tasty Chicken’ tonight so I need you to do me a favour. I’ve told my old man that I’m at your yardz tonight, so if he bells ya just say that I’m with you yeh.

Jameela: Sorry sis, there’s no way I can get involved in something like that.

Aliyah: Why? What’s your problem girl? You know I’d do the same thing for you - any time you wanna link up a mad mullah – or whatever it is that you’re into. I’d cover up for ya.

Jameela: If I covered up for you, I’d be sinning too. And dating is strictly FORBIDDEN in Islam. There’s lots of verses in the Qur’an that talk about this.

Aliyah:Nah, you don’t understand. My baby’s different innit. We went to get some munch once from the chippie and he let me share his chips. He also thinks I’m a boff. That’s why he makes me do his homework. He is SO romantic too, he makes me top up his phone every week so that he can speak to me every night. I know he’s the one I’m gonna marry.

Jameela: And what if you don’t marry him? God Forbid, say you both died in a car accident – which ain’t that unlikely given the way the boy drives – and you were both standing in front of Allah(swt) on the Day of Judgment. Do you really believe that Allah(swt) would accept the excuse that “you were gonna marry but you died before you could do that?”

Aliyah: Why you gotta be so friggin’ negative for? I’m way too young and buff to die innit. I AM gonna marry him. We’ll have beautiful kids, he’s gonna buy me bare bling, we’ll live in a massive house, my wardrobe will be full of designer garms... we’ll be the next Posh n Becks – everyone will be so jealous of us!!

Jameela: People die at all ages. It ain’t just old people who die. Don’t assume that you’re gonna live till the old age of 80. Death can come knocking on your door any time .The Qur’an says ‘Wherever you are, death will find you out, even if you are in towers built up strong and high!’ (4:78). And how exactly is your unemployed boyfriend who only passed 2 GCSE’s gonna fund your extravagant lifestyle? How do you even know that he’s gonna stick around and not dump you?

Aliyah: Coz he loves me innit.

Jameela: Look Sis, if he REALLY loved you, he’d respect you. He wouldn’t meet you on the sly. The first thing he’d do is knock on your door and ask for your hand in marriage. If he’s always refusing or making lame excuses then you should know that he doesn’t give a damn about you and only considers you a timepass. You’re worth a lot more than that, so don’t allow yourself to be messed about like that. Don’t ruin your rep in society over a dosser.

Aliyah: Yeh, I get ya. When I see Iky tonight I’ll force him to come around this weekend and speak to my old man. If he don’t come, he’s well DUMPED!

Jameela: Also Sis, people lose all respect for girls and guys who’re involved in the dating game. Everyone talks about such people.

Aliyah: That just reminded me. You need to help me smash the windows of the silly old cow who lives at number 25. That old witch G’d me up to my mum and told her that she saw me flirting with boys outside the library. Mum smacked me on the head with her chuppal cos of her…dozy cow, why can’t she look at her own mingin’ daughters. I saw the middle one in town last week, flirting with some rudeboys in town –WITHOUT her hijaab …I’m gonna spit in her tea next time she comes to my house.

Jameela: Why you stressing for? It’s your own fault. If you weren’t flirting with guys in the first place none of this would’ve happened. Next time you decide to flirt with the local rudeboys somewhere that you know your dad, the local Imam and that big mouth aunty down the road wont see you, always remember Allah(swt) is ALWAYS watching you. There is no place on Earth where you can go where you wont get clocked by Him(swt).

Aliyah: Nah, she’s just a dozy cow who has nothing better to do than chat crap about other peeps daughters. She’s just jealous that I’m so beautiful and she has hairy moles all over her mingin’ face, and a big fat…

Jameela: How comes no one ever talks about me?

Aliyah: Probably coz you know of some dodgy, secret, undercover alleyway that you ain’t told me about…hahahahahahaha.

Jameela: You know why. It’s coz I don’t do dodgy stuff in private that I wish to hide from others. If I did, I’d have people talking about me too.

Aliyah: Forget about the lady from number 25 for a moment and check out that guy across the street... don’t make it obvious…but don’t he look exactly like Jay Sean innit? Don’t you wish you had a man just as fit as him?

Jameela: Astagfirullah!! What you on?!

Aliyah:Chill. Don’t get your Hijaab in a twist. Don’t you swing that way? I’m only looking. Don’t tell me looking is haraam too?

Jameela: ‘Just looking’ ain’t a minor thing. It’s a sin and ALL sins bring about the punishment of Allah. The Holy Prophet (saw) said: “The adultery of the eyes is looking (at [that] which is not allowed)…” (Bukhari, Muslim).

Aliyah: Easy...I didn’t know that. But guys are always checking me out. So are they sinning 24/7 too?

Jameela: How comes guys don’t check me out?

Aliyah: Well maybe if you made an effort every now and again…let your hair down, sorted out your nails, sorted out them gorilla eyebrows of yours…guys would check you out too innit…hahahahahaha.

Jameela: You know why guys don’t check me out. It’s coz I don’t dress like you. My clothes are always loose and my hair is always covered. People know that I’m a Muslim so they don’t even go there…but with you, how do I even know that you’re a Muslim? You could be a Sikh or Hindu girl…

Aliyah: You tryin’ to say that I look like a Hindu? I don’t worship bare Gods….

Jameela: No, I’m trying to say that as a Muslim your identity is important. When you cover up, people know that you’re a Muslim without even having to ask you. Guys stop flirting with you and actually listen to what you have to say. They begin to take you seriously and you won’t have to put up with their hands on your waist or shoulders coz they’ll have bare respect for you.

Aliyah: I can’t help it if I’m so fit! I don’t walk around with a massive sign on my backside that tells guys to bog at me do I?

Jameela: When you get decked up like a Bollywood heroine and go out, guys check you out. You KNOW that – you ain’t thick. It’s irrelevant whether or not you’re a decent girl. Most people judge others based on their appearance, so do you really want to be judged on your size, shape and beauty? Guys will not wake up one day and have a new sexual orientation. How you dress can either put off or encourage unwanted attention from guys. So why play the game?

Aliyah: OK I get you now…I really respect you and that. But I ain’t really into this holy moly malarkey. It’s coz of Islam that Sonia, who used to date some fit white man, was forced into marriage to some stupid farm boy from a village back home. He had no teeth and was always spitting and burping in public. Sick man. And then there was Marina, you know the one who used to take her scarf off at the top of the road. She was forced to marry some asylum seeker who was hairier than a gorilla, didn’t know what the hell deodorant was and would always greet his guests by farting…

Jameela: OK I get the picture…I know where you’re coming from but you’re mixing up Islam with culture. In our religion forced marriages are strictly against Islam. The issue of forced marriages is not one that is limited to only Muslims, but Hindus, Sikhs and other religions also acknowledge it as a problem. If a woman or a man were forced into marriage then the marriage would not be valid and would therefore need to be cancelled.

Aliyah: I didn’t know that. Wait till I tell my mum, she can’t get off my case about my mingin’ cousin from back home. Like I’d marry someone who wasn’t as fit as Jay Sean. As if….I’m too good for him. I’m pretty enough to become Britain’s Next Top Model, whilst he’s so fat he could cover up the hole in the ozone layer. He’s so ugly that…

Jameela: Anyways, you gonna think about what I said?

Aliyah: Yeh, I ain’t gonna link my baby tonight. You’ve talked me outta it. I’m gonna stand the boy up. It ain’t like he ain’t skanked me a trillion times before…Oh crap! Is that my dad across the road?! I better leg it, he’d kill me if he catches me in this top!

The People of Bliss

By Imaam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah

..............................................................................................................

The First Class of Happy People

The first class consists of those who possess the quality of intellectual independence; they are described by Allah (T) as follows:

"The first and foremost [to embrace Islam] of the Muhaajireen 1 and the Ansaar 2, and also those who follow them in the best way; Allaah is well-pleased with them, and they are with Him." [soorah at-Tawbah 9:100]

These are the happy ones for whom Allah's acceptance is confirmed. They are the Companions of Allah's Messenger (S) and those who follow them in the best way until the Day of Resurrection.

The conventional expression 'Taabi'oon' applies to the companions' followers who have met with them in person. However, the description here is not restricted to them, but includes anyone who righteously follows their way; and any such person is of those with whom Allah (T) is pleased and who are also pleased with Him.

FOLLOWING WITH IHSAAN

The manner of following the Sahaabah (in this aayah) is not ambiguous. It is restricted by Allah (T) to being in the 'best way'. It cannot be fulfilled merely by wishes, or by adhering to them in some matters while rejecting them in others. It should always be done with Ihsaan (with righteousness and in the best way); this is a condition to deserve Allah's (T) acceptance and His Gardens. He (T) said:

"He it is Who has sent among the unlettered a messenger [Muhammad] from among themselves, to convey unto them His messages, to sanctify them, and to instruct them in the Book and the Wisdom, although they had been before in manifest error. And He has sent him also to other people who have not quite reached them (the Sahaabah); He is All-Mighty, All-Wise. That is the bounty of Allaah which He bestows on whom He wills. Allaah is the One of great bounty." [soorah Al-Jumu'ah 62:2-4]

The first group of people mentioned here are those who met the Messenger (S) and accompanied him. The latter are those who did not meet the first group; this applies to anyone who comes after them and adheres to their way, until the Day of Resurrection. This group falls behind the first group (the Sahaabah) both in era and in stature, even though both groups are of the happy ones.

THREE KINDS OF HEARTS

A third group of people would be those who reject the Guidance that Allaah (T) sent with His Messenger (S), or who do not benefit from it. Those are described by Allah (T) in the following:

"The likeness of those who were entrusted with the responsibility of the Torah, but who subsequently failed in that, is as the likeness of a donkey which carries a huge burden of books [but understands nothing of them]..." [soorah Al-Jumu'ah 62:5]

The Prophet (S) also classified people into three groups based on their response to his Message and Guidance. He said:

"An example of the guidance and knowledge with which Allah (T) has sent me is that of a rain that falls on different kinds of land:

1) One land is good; it accepts water and produces vegetation and grass in plenty.

2) Another land is dry with a solid bed that reserves water so that people can drink and irrigate with it.

3) The third kind is a porous land that can neither retain water nor produce vegetation.

This is an example of those who acquire the knowledge of the Deen and benefit from that with which Allah (T) sent me, and of those who do not take heed and who insist on rejecting Allah's (T) Guidance." 3

The Messenger (S) likens the knowledge (with which he came) to rain, because both are causes of life. Rain is the cause of life for the body, while knowledge is the cause of life for the heart. He (S) also likens different hearts to different valleys, as Allah (T) said:

"He sends down water from the sky, making different valleys flow according to their different natures..." [soorah Ar-Rad 13:17]

Thus, just as there are three kinds of land, there are three kinds of hearts:

1) The first is a good land which accepts water and is ready to produce vegetation. When rain falls on it, it absorbs the water eagerly, giving rise to all sorts of pleasant vegetation.

This is an example of one with a healthy, pure, and intelligent heart, which embraces knowledge, and is guided by its true intelligent nature, blossoming by that wisdom and true faith. Therefore, it is eager to take the knowledge, and ready to bear fruits because of its good nature.

It is also like a rich business man who has experience in different trades and investments, which enables him to invest his wealth in that which brings the best profit.

2) The second kind is a hard, solid land prepared to preserve and keep water: It benefits people who visit it to drink or irrigate.

This is an example of one whose heart preserves knowledge and safeguards it so as to convey it just as he hears it, without changing it or deriving conclusions from it. This is also described in another hadeeth:

"There is often one who conveys knowledge to one who is more knowledgeable than himself; and there is often one who carries knowledge when he himself is not knowledgeable." 4

It is also like a rich man who does not possess the knowledge or experience to invest his wealth, but who knows very well how to preserve it.

3) The third is a barren land which is incapable of holding water or producing vegetation: no matter how much rain falls, it does not profit by it.

This is an example of one whose heart does not accept any knowledge or wisdom. It is also like a poor man who neither possesses wealth nor knows how to preserve it.

The first of the above three examples applies to a learned man who teaches knowledge, and who calls people to Allah (T) with clear guidance; such are the inheritors of the Prophets.

The second applies to one who preserves the knowledge, and who transmits what he hears precisely; he carries to other people precious goods that they can use for trade and investment.

The third applies to one who neither accepts Allaah's Guidance nor benefits from it.

Thus this hadeeth covers the different types of people and their different attitudes toward the Prophet's (S) Da'wah, which make them either happy or miserable.

The Second Class of Happy People

The second class of Happy People consists of the believers' followers from their offspring who die before reaching the status of takleef 5. They will be with their parents [in the Hereafter], as Allaah (T) said:

"As for those who believe and whose offspring follow them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring, and We shall not let any of their deeds go to waste; every person is responsible for that which he has earned." [soorah At-Tur 52:21]

Allah (T) tells that He unites the offspring with the parents in the Jannah6, just as He united them in faith (Eemaan). And because the offspring did not do deeds that would make them deserve this high honour, Allah (T) informs that this union does not waste any of the deeds of the parents. They receive their full reward for what they did, plus the bonus of uniting them with their offspring.

Also, because this reunion in rewards and ranks is a bounty from Allah (T), one might imagine that it would be in violation of the rules of justice. To clarify this, the ayah indicates that if the children committed sins, they alone would be liable for punishment, and that every person is responsible for what he does without involving others with him in punishment. Thus this union takes place in terms of rewards and bounties, but not in terms of justice and penalty.

This is indeed one of the keys and treasures of Qur'aan, the knowledge of which Allah (T) gives only to those whom He wills.

Thus this ayah covers all people: the miserable and the happy - those who are followed, and those who follow them.

Consequently, let a prudent person who cares about his well-being see to which class he belongs. Let him not be influenced by habits or ruled by laziness. If he finds that he belongs to a happy class, let him strive to move to a higher rank, seeking Allah's help and facilitation. And if he finds that he belongs to the miserable class, let him move out of it into a happy class while it is still possible, and before he would have to say:

"Oh! Would that I had followed the path shown to me by the Messenger."

[soorah Al Furqan 25:27]

Ten Beautiful Islamic Qualities for Men and Women

http://www.isna.net/library/khutbahs/TenBe...icQualities.asp

By Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqi

For Muslim men and women, for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah's praise, for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward. (al-Ahzab 33:35)

The message of the Qur’an is addressed to all men and women. Islam is neither only for men, nor only for women. It is for all human beings. Men and women both of them are capable to acquire good qualities and are able to do good deeds. Allah’s blessings and His rewards are for those who obey Allah, whether they are males or females.

According to the Qur’an, the good qualities that should manifest in the life of every male and female believer are many. These are mentioned in various Surahs of the Qur’an. Following are ten important qualities that summarize the noble Islamic characters. It is interesting that all these qualities are mentioned here in the active participle form which gives the meaning “doer”.

1. Muslim: A Muslim is a person who continuously and all the time surrenders his/herself to Allah. Islam means “total submission to Allah”. It means obeying Allah’s commands and fulfilling all our duties.

2. Mu’min: This is faithful person. He/she lives with and in faith. Iman means conviction and sincerity of the hearth. If “islam” means submission in the outward sense, then “iman” is the inner dimension of a person. Iman is faith and trust in Allah. Iman is the deeper aspect of Islam. It means sincere acceptance of Allah. It means love of Allah with all our heart, all our soul and all our mind.

3. Qanit: This is a person who is humbly devout and always aware of Allah. Qunut means “worship and obedience in the most humble way”. Believers are devoted people. They are the people of prayers and worship. They live in obedience to Allah all the time.

4. Sadiq: This is a truthful and sincere person. This person always speaks the truth and never tells a lie. Sidq is both truth and honesty. Sidq and Amanah are sometime spoken together. They are part of faith. Believers are always truthful and honest. The Prophet -peace be upon him- once said that when a person loses his religion, then first he loses the character of honesty and then finally he loses prayer.

5. Sabir is a person who is patient and steadfast. Sabr is patience, perseverance and steadfastness. Believers are patient in the situations of difficulties and they are firm and steadfast when they are in the situation of trails. They do not lose their faith and their principles under pressures and challenges.

6. Khashi’ is a person who has a great awe and reverence for Allah. Khushu’ is to have deep respect and fear of Allah in the heart. Those who have Khushu’ in their life they do not become arrogant or boastful people. They do good deeds but their good deeds make them more humble and kind towards others.

7. Mutasaddiq is a person who is always generous and gives in charity. Tasdduq is from Sadaqah which means voluntary charity to express one’s kindness and friendship towards others. The believers are charitable people. They care for others. They are not selfish or concerned only about their own selves, but love for others what they love for themselves.

8. Sa’im is person who fasts. Sawm means fast but literally it means “to abstain and to control”. The believers fast during the month of Ramadan and other times. Fasting is not only avoiding food and drinks and observing some other rules, it also means self-discipline and self-control. The believers do not do anything Haram, but even in Halal things they are careful. They do not over indulge or waste their resources.

9. Hafiz al-Farj is a person who is very conscious of his/her sexual morality. Hifz al-furuj literally means “guarding the private parts” which means both avoiding the illicit sexual relations as well as improper behavior in dress, walk and talk. The believers do not follow their lusts and desires. They follow a decent and proper course of action in all aspects of life.

10. Dhakir Allah is person who remembers Allah always and never forgets Him and also mentions Allah’s name always. Dhikr is to keep some one in mind, to remember in the heart, and to mention by the tongue. People generally mention that which they love very much. The believers love Allah and so they talk about Him all the time and they keep Him in their minds.

We must strive to develop these qualities in our lives. These qualities will give us best character and they will bring happiness and success in this life and in the Hereafter. The world today has forgotten these qualities. Even the so-called religious people feel shy to speak about them. Islam is a reminder to all human beings, males and females, to do good things. The real salvation of the soul and society is in these values and characters.

Time is Amanah

A forwarded story:-

Since last night my young son has been unwell. When I got back from work this evening I decided to take him to hospital despite my exhaustion. There were many waiting; perhaps we will be delayed by more than an hour. I took my number and sat down in the waiting room. There were many faces, young and old, but all silent. Some brothers made use of the many booklets available in the waiting room. Some of those waiting had their eyes closed, while others were looking around. Most were bored. Once in a while the long silence was broken by a nurse calling out a number. Happiness appears on the one whose turn it is, and he gets up quickly; then silence returns.

A young man grabbed my attention. He was reading a pocket-sized Qur`an continuously; not raising his head even once. At first I did not think much about him. However, after one hour of waiting my casual glances turned into a deep reflection about his lifestyle and how he utilizes his time. One hour of life wasted! Instead of making benefit of that hour, it was just a boring wait. Then the call for prayer was made. We went to prayer in the hospital's mosque. I tried to pray close to the man who was reading the Qur`an earlier in the waiting room. After the prayer I walked with him. I informed him of how impressed I was of him and how he tries to benefit from his time. He told me that most of our time is wasted without any benefit. These are days that go from our lives without being conscious of them or regretting their waste. He said that he started carrying the pocket-sized Qur`an around when a friend encouraged him to make full use of his time. He told me that in the time other people waste he gets to read much more of the Qur`an than he gets to read either at home or in the mosque.

Moreover, besides the reward of reading the Qur`an, this habit saves him from boredom and stress. He added that he has now been waiting for one and a half hours. Then he asked, when will you find one and a half hours to read the Qur`an? I reflected; How much time do we waste? How many moments of our lives pass by, and yet we do not account for how they passed by?

Indeed, how many months pass by and we do not read the Qur`an? I came to respect my companion, and I discovered that I am to stand for account and that time is not in my hand; so what am I waiting for? My thoughts were interrupted by the nurse calling out my number; I went to the doctor. But I want to achieve something now. After I left the hospital I quickly went to the bookshop and bought a pocket-sized Qur`an. I decided to be mindful of how I spend the time.

If this information is beneficial to you, then spread it amongst your friends and relatives. Our Prophet (Sallallaahu 'Alaihi WaSallam) said; "Whoever guides or directs to good, then he gets the same amount of blessing (reward) as the one who does it" The Prophet (Sallallaahu 'Alaihi Wasallam) also said "Pass on knowledge from me even if it is only one verse" The splendor of our creation.

There are over 6000 Muslims prisoners in the UK . There are 900 inmates in Belmarsh, and over 100 of those are Muslims. The secure unit in Belmarsh (Category AA) holds Muslim prisoners who have been abused. So when a flurry of emails, texts and internet postings erupted recently, one might be forgiven for assuming that the subject was the mistreatment of Muslim detainees. Sadly, one would be naive to assume so. The hot topic of conversation and cries of "NO! I can't take it" "We won't stand for that" was...the proposal by Mars to use animal products in its chocolate bars.

Alhumdulillah, O Muslim, that you have the option to eat halal food, unlike the prisoners of Belmarsh who are served a 50/50 mixture of halal and haram meat. Alhamdulillah, O Muslim, that you are clothed, whilst those in Category AA have been stripped naked and forced to squat. Those that refused were persuaded by the use of force on pressure points. Alhamdulillah that our youth have such zeal, commitment and sense of outrage to swiftly react...over a bar of chocolate?!

It is an obligation on us as part of the Ummah of Muhammad (SAW) to free the prisoner and stand up against oppression. We are a population of over one million Muslims in the UK . If 6000 complaints can reach Mars over a bar of chocolate within the space of a week, how many emails and letters should the authorities be receiving when a Muslim inmate's rights are violated? Or is it because the decision by Mars affects our daily lives, whereas the abuse of our brothers can be easily ignored?

When our Muslim brothers and sisters are on trial, how many of us remember them in the last 3rd of the night? How many of us lobby MPs, sign petitions and support Cageprisoners, HHUGS and the IHRC? How many of us drop off food to those under control orders? Or do we fear that delivering some curry and rice will have us on the next plane to Cuba ? How many of us will write to a Muslim prisoner or send a message of support to his/her family?

Alhamdulillah we have a large ummah with many caring hearts. Unfortunately, the good intention to get around to helping a prisoner some day doesnt ease their situation today. A bar of Snickers or Mars isn't going to intercede for you on the Day of Reckoning. The dua of your imprisoned Muslim brother, whose aid you rush to, just might though.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Whosoever relieves from a believer some grief pertaining to this world, Allah will relieve from him some grief pertaining to the Hereafter...." [sahih Muslim]

O Ummah of Apathy! What is your priority?

  Zabeehah chicken = Halaal chicken???
Posted by: mmsAbdullah - 06-08-2007, 02:47 AM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

:shahadah:

:assalam:

dear brothers and sisters.

I have been thinking for a long time on this issue now. Are animals that are inherently halaal (such as chicken and lamb) still fit for consumption after they have been fed animal products. Many farms all over the world use animal waste products (even feaces!) to add protein to the feed. This obviously results in healthier poultry = more meat to sell!

Now the opinions of many scholars that i have come across vary on this matter.

According to scholars of Hanafiyah madhab, such as Mufti Ibrahim Desai of South Africa:

<i>"To buy or sell feed that contains impurities such as feaces, feathers, meltdown of dogs and cats, blood, brains and the spinal cords of cows, etc. is not permissible nor is it permissible to provide animals such feed. However, if the animals have been fed with such feed and that has been their staple diet, it will be permissible to consume the meat of such animals with the condition that the meat does not give off any bad odour."</i>

But I have heard Dr. Zakir Naik say that animals that are fed on meat are not halaal in islam. (Or something similar to this end) during one of his lectures.

According to SOUNDVISION (a famous islamic website) Dr. Ahmad Sakr,
professor emeritus of Food Science and author of "Understanding Halal Food" and "A Muslim Guide to Food Ingredients" is of the opinion that, <i>"Halal is Halal if the following conditions are taken into consideration" The first is that the animal is itself is Halal. That means no pork, for instance.</i>

The second, is that the food the animal consumes does not contain any blood or meat. Sakr explains that the animal has to be herbivorous to be Halal, and adds that an animal becomes Haram if it consumes blood and /or meat.

The first question that we must ask is that is there any information regarding this matter in the Holy Qura'an and the Sunnah of Sayyidina RasoolULLAH :saws2: ?

Would anyone who has knowledge on this matter like to elaborate?
