What We Should Do |

Nowadays, especially in non muslim countries, muslims are suffering from some form of racial/religious abuse. In the UK, it is rife in the media, muslims need to make themselves visible and write to their MP's, the media, to stop this type of abuse. They are fuelling public animosity against us.
The police are targeting muslims, the other day they broke into a house at 4am in Manchester handcuffed a 14 year old boy to the radiator, frightened a 55 year old disabled woman and took a young male to the station. They have been doing this throughout the UK and the ironic fact is no one has been charged. But they don't add this in the media, just "muslims arrested".
We need to be more vigilant like the Jewish people, who have been successful in the past by writing be it petitions, complaints to the relvant people/orgs, we should do the same. We should protect ourselves. I am aware some organisations are doing this, but I also think individuals should get together and do the same. They will have to do something at some point. If we don't act it will get alot worse.

Islam Says About Human Intellect |

Dear All
Man has been endowed with -Intellect- which gives him superiority to
other animals. Human intellect functions, however, within the limits
of Time and Space and is, consequently, capable of handling only that
aspect of man's life which is subject to change, i.e. the physical
aspect of human life. It cannot peep over the boundaries of change
into the supra-physical, or the realm of permanence to which human
Personality belongs. In that realm, things reveal themselves to human
intellect -to Messengers of God- and are not discovered by it.
Revelation is Divine, and Divine Guidance alone provides permanent
values or unalterable fundamental principles, otherwise known as
Divine Precepts,or the way or Practice or Allah Almighty. Law or rules
devised by human intellect need change with the change in time and
space; but permanent values admit of no such change. In the words of
the Holy Quran, There is no changing in the Words of Allah, Quran
chapter 10 verse 64- you will find no change in the way of Allah,
Quran chapter 33 verse 62.
Body and Personality cannot, however, be divided into two mutually
exclusive compartments, nor also can the laws pertaining to the realms
of permanence and change. A combination of permanence and change. A
combination of permanence and change can be achieved if in framing
laws, human intellect keeps itself within the boundaries of eternal
values revealed by God. The laws so framed will be applicable to man
as a whole and satisfy the requirement of both Personality and the
physical body of man.

Muslims Say That The Qur'an Is A Miracle |

Assalamu aleikum,
This is in first hand to YOU that are searching for the truth of the Qur'an. And perhaps looking for the answer - What is the challenge of the Qur'an?
Previous prophets performed miracles to prove that their message was not their own but God's message. In the case of the Qur'an, the message itself is the miracle.
The prophet Muhammad, on whom be peace, did not know how to read or write. Yet the Qur'an which was being revealed to him was (and still is) the highest pinnacle of literary beauty and excellence in the Arabic Language. It was beyond the ability of the prophet to produce this book. And God declares that it is beyond the ability of all of humankind and spirit-kind to produce a book like the Qur'an.
The Qur'an was revealed piece by piece over a period of twenty-three years. During this time, God challenged humankind four times to produce a book like the Qur'an, and they couldn't do it. When the prophet and his followers were being persecuted in Mecca, God showed the persecutors a simple way by which they can wipe out the message of the Qur'an. God stated that this book cannot be produced by men or spirit creatures. Obviously, if they pooled together their abilities and composed a book like the Qur'an they would have proved the Qur'an to be false in its claim. But they couldn't. And here is what the Qur'an claims:
Say: If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur'an they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support
Qur'an 17:88.
Although people ardently wished to block the message of the Qur'an and they tried every thing they could to stifle it, yet they did not try this obvious strategy. Why? Because it cannot be done. So God reduced the challenge for them: never mind the whole book; produce just ten chapters if you can. This challenge is mentioned in Surah 11:13 in the Qur'an, Or they may say, "He forged it," Say, "Bring ye then ten suras forged, like unto it, and call (to your aid) whomsoever ye can, other than Allah!- If ye speak the truth!
Again they couldn't do it. And they were the literary giants of their day. They held fairs to promote their own literary masterpieces. They hung their prized compositions on the door of the house of pilgrimage for all to see. But they could not match the stunning verses of the Qur'an.
God reduced the challenge further still, Or do they say, "He forged it"? say: "Bring then a Sura like unto it, and call (to your aid) anyone you can besides Allah, if it be ye speak the truth!"
Qur'an 10:38. If they cannot produce ten chapters then how about one chapter? Just one! And they couldn't do it, so they eventually pulled down their proud exhibits from where they were hung. The Qur'an had proved its point: this is no man-made book.
Yet they tried everything to banish the Qur'an from the face of the earth. They even made an attempt on the life of the prophet. He fled to Madinah, another city. And there the Qur'an kept coming to him piece by piece. The challenge was repeated yet again. This time God reduced the emphasis as if to say, okay you couldn't produce a chapter like it; now produce a chapter even remotely like
it. This challenge is mentioned in the Qur'an in chapter 2, verse 23, And if ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time to Our servant, then produce a Sura like thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers (If there are any) besides Allah, if your (doubts) are true
. They failed again.
And the world has failed since. The challenge is still there in the Qur'an, and everyone who disbelieves the Qur'an can still pool together their abilities and resources to try and produce one like it. But they cannot.
Isn't this an awesome miracle?

Anti-semitic Backlash Foments In Russia |

After decades of being under Jewish oppression, causing the deaths of forty million innocent non-Jewish Russians during peacetime, many non-Jewish people in Russia are becoming increasingly discontented with Jewish influence. A long-held anger, which was simmering under the surface and held in check only by the former Soviet Union murdering a large portion of the Russian population, is beginning to express itself.
Recently, a rally was held in Moscow, where several hundred people joined together to protest Jewish influence in Russian affairs. People openly held up signs telling Jews to leave. Shortly thereafter, some Russian teenagers expressed their discontent with Russian Jews by vandalizing a cemetery, spray-painting swastikas and the number “88” on Jewish tombstones.
Among the mainstream, while President Putin has assumed a more moderate position, he nevertheless seems to be targeting the Jewish oligarchs, such as Mr. Berezovsky and Mr. Gusinky, to name two who have been working in a concerted effort to gain control of Russia’s media, just as their counterparts have done in other countries across the globe.
The struggle for the soul of the Russia people is at hand, with its enemies such as Mr. Satanovsky, head of the Russian Jewish Congress, working hard to once again take Russia by the hand on the dark road to Hades.
Whether it will survive Mr. Satanovsky’s dark attempt to take Russia by the hand or to rise above the decadence with which it is facing is something waiting to be seen, and will forever be recorded in the Book of Fate.

Giving Thanks To Allah |

Giving Thanks To Allah
Being grateful to a fellow human being who has shown favour, is to render one’s thanks to express appreciative sentiments. The concept of being grateful to Allah (shukr), on the other hand, is to grasp and emphasize the fact that every kind of grace and favour is granted exclusively by Allah. In the Qur’an, the opposite of being grateful is defined by the term “disbelief”(Kufr), which is synonymous with ingratitude. Only this definition indicates the importance attached to being grateful as a form of worship and the detrimental consequences its neglect may have for a believer.
Gratefulness to Allah is one of the concepts principally emphasized in the Qur’an. In almost 70 verses, the importance of rendering thanks to Allah is stated, examples of those who are grateful and ungrateful are given and the end their requital in the hereafter is described. The reason why so much importance is given to this concept is simply that it is a sure indication of one’s faith and affirmation of the Oneness of Allah. In one of the verses “being grateful” is described as “worshipping only Allah”:
O you who believe! Eat of the good things that We have provided for you, and be grateful to Allah, if it is Him you worship. (Al-Baqara, 172)
In another verse, giving thanks to Allah is described as the opposite of idolatry:
But it has already been revealed to you, — as it was to those before you, — “If you were to associate other gods with Allah, truly fruitless would be your work (in life), and you would surely be in the ranks of those who lose (all spiritual good)”. Therefore, worship Allah, and be of those who give thanks. (Az-Zumar, 65-66)
Satan’s defiant statements to Allah (on the day of his refusal to bow to Adam) emphasize the importance of giving thanks to Allah:
“Because you have cast me out I will lie in wait for your servants as they walk on your straight path: Then will I assault them from in front of them and from behind them, from their right and from their left. Then you will find most of them, ungrateful for Your mercies.” (Al-Araf, 17)
As stated in the verse above, Satan out of sheer pique, devoted His life to misleading people. His ultimate aim is to make people be ungrateful to their Creator. When this ultimate purpose of the Satan is considered, it becomes more comprehensible how a man goes astray when he does not render thanks to Allah.
Gratefulness is a part of the test by Allah. Man is surely endowed with His favour, and is informed about how he should benefit from it. In return, he is expected to assume a submissive attitude towards his Creator. However, it is again only man himself who chooses to be grateful or ungrateful to Allah:
We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him. We gave him the gifts of hearing and sight. We showed him the way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful. (Al-Insan, 2-3)
As the verses suggest, the choice of the human being whether to go grateful or ungrateful, is explicit sign of his faith or disbelief.
Gratefulness is also closely related to requital in the hereafter. No punishment shall befall those who have faith and are grateful:
What can Allah gain by your punishment, if you are grateful and you believe? Indeed, it is Allah who recognizes all good, and knows all things. (An-Nisa, 147)
This verse, together with many others, gives the good tidings that Allah rewards those who remain grateful to their Creator:
And remember! Your Lord caused to be declared (publicly): “If you are grateful, I will increase My favours to you. But if you show ingratitude, truly, My punishment is terrible indeed.” (Abraham, 7)
That is the bounty of which Allah gives glad tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say: “No reward do I ask of you for this except the love of those near of kin.” He who does a good deed shall be paid many times over: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate (service). (Ash-Shura, 23)
The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. We sent against them a violent tornado with showers of stones, which destroyed all of them, except Lut’s household, whom We delivered by early dawn,— through Our mercy. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. (Al-Qamar, 33-35) “If you counted up the favours of Allah, you would never be able to number them: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Al-Nahl, 18) As this verse suggests, let alone counting up the favours of Allah,it is not conceivable even to categorize them. Since there is no limit to the favours of Allah, a believer should unceasingly keep himself occupied with the remembrance of Allah and express his gratefulness to Him.
In expectation of some very great favor, some people wait for special occasions to render their thanks to Allah. Settlement of a major problem, or recovering from a serious sickness are the proper times to express one’s inner gratefulness to Allah, they assume. However, if one reflected only for a moment, one would instantly comprehend that he is always surrounded with infinite favours. At every moment, every minute, there is an uninterrupted flow of favours: life, good health, intelligence, consciousness, the five senses, the air that one breaths, in brief, everything that makes life possible is given to one by the grace of Allah. In return for all these, the individual is expected to serve Allah in gratitude. Those who are heedless of these favours and accordingly neglect to turn to Allah in order to express their gratefulness, acknowledge their importance only when they are deprived of them.
The Qur’an enjoins careful attention to the favours of Allah and repeatedly reminds us of those we tend to forget. Whole volumes would surely be insufficient to name all the blessings of Allah. Allah fashioned man into a man, He endowed him with five senses thus enabling him to perceive the world around him, guided him to the true path through His Book and Messenger, provided an explanation of the scriptures, desired no hardship for His servants, saved them from the oppression of unbelievers, made their habitations havens of rest and quiet for them, created fresh water, an abundant variety of food, sea- products, ships sailing night and day for the benefit of mankind.
No one can ever say “I say my prayers regularly and engage in righteous dealings, but do not give thanks to Allah”. The individual who is not grateful to Allah is one who does not occupy himself with the remembrance of Allah, and hence is heedless of Him. A person who, like the animals, consumes everything given to him without pondering over why it is granted and the One Who grants it, surely needs to change this attitude. Otherwise, expecting to receive a reward from Allah and hoping to attain Heaven would be meaningless. That is why a believer should never neglect to render thanks to Allah.
We also know from the revelations of Allah that only those who give thanks to Allah can acknowledge the signs of Allah in the outer world and draw lessons for themselves. The following verses elaborate upon this theme:
From the land that is clean and good, by the will of its Cherisher, springs up produce, rich after its kind: but from the land that is bad, springs up nothing but that which is niggardly: thus do we explain the signs by various symbols to those who are grateful. (Al-Araf, 58)
We sent Moses with Our signs (and the command): “Bring out your people from the depths of darkness into light, and teach them to remember the days of Allah.” Truly, in this there are signs for such as are firmly patient and constant, grateful and appreciative. (Ibrahim, 5)
Do you not see that the ships sail across the ocean by the Grace of Allah, So that He may show you His Signs? Truly, in this there are signs for all who constantly persevere and give thanks. (Luqman, 31)
But they said: “Our Lord! Place longer distances between our journey-stages” But they wronged themselves in this. At length We made their fate a byword and We dispersed them throughout the land. In this there are truly signs for every soul that is patiently constant and grateful. (Saba, 19)
The wisdom related in these verses and the evidences they furnish, can be comprehended only by those who are endowed with the insight and sensitivity of those who give thanks. This is no doubt a reward for being grateful to Allah. Ungrateful and insensitive people, on the other hand, do not even notice these verses.
In many verses, Allah advises His Messengers, one of whom is Moses, to be grateful:
(Allah) said: “O Moses! I have chosen you above (other) men, by the mission I (have given you ) and the words I (have spoken to you): take then the (revelation) which I give you, and be of those who give thanks.” (Al-Araf, 144)
In Surat-al-Ahkaf, verse 15, a believer in his maturity (the age of 40 is referred to as the age of maturity in the Qur’an) prays that he may be a grateful person:
We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents. In pain his mother bore him, and in pain she gave birth to him. The carrying of the child to his weaning is a period of thirty months. At length, when he reaches manhood and attains forty years, he says, “O my Lord! Inspire me to be grateful for the favours which you have bestowed upon me, and upon both my parents, and to do good works of which you will approve; and grant me good descendants. Truly, I have turned to you and truly I bow to You in Islam. (Al-Ahqaf, 15)

As salam alykom dear members
I sincerely apologize for what happened from the member who chose to him/herself an obscene nickname that actually hurt our feelings. I really don’t know why some people insist to introduce themselves as followers of a religion that allows them to be obscene. Islam, our religion, encourages us to adopt kind and good moral and mannerism while dealing with others in addition to trusting others. When we launched this forum, we sat the membership in a way that allows registration without control. However, such behavior from people made us compelled to set the registration in a way that enforces some control.
I apologize to all my dear brothers and sisters. Such procedure will delay the activation of new members while shall put extra burden on the mods. But we have no other way with members who are not up to the trust like this one.
I appreciate the concern of sisterJennifer and Muslimah and Radiyah for their concern and all other members who took the trouble to see into this matter.
As for the member, he/she is banned. As for the threat to close down the forum there is a saying in Arabic that says. He may choose the tallest among his horses to rid. In other words he can hit the ceiling if he can

Islam Give's Two Concepts Of Life |
Posted by: nawaz - 12-04-2004, 08:33 AM - Forum: General

Dear All
The foremost essential which a people must determine and define in
law-making is the concept of life. As is the concept of life of a
people so will be its law. Broadly speaking, two concepts of life,
which have come down to us through history, are prevalent today, and
have a direct bearing on the point under discussion.
One concept sees man only as a physical body, endowed somehow with
consciousness, living according to certain chemico-physico-biological
laws and then dying under the operation of these very laws. With his
physical death man, like other animals, ceases to exist. This concept
is known as the materialistic concept of life. Laws or rules of
conduct framed under this concept of life are based on expediency and
admit of no permanent or unchangeable values. Changes, abrogation's,
or amendments in the laws are also governed exclusively by expediency.
Governmental machinery set up by people subscribing to the
materialistic concept of life is called the -Secular- form of
government, whether its pattern is democratic or dictatorial.
There is another concept of life which is propounded by the Holy
Quran. Man, according to the Quranic concept, is a combination of a
physical body, which is changing, changeable and liable to death, and
a Personality which does not change, but develops and is capable of
self-integration and becoming immortal. The aim of life, according to
the Holy Quran, is the development of Personality. Human Personality
is not static but is potentially capable of developing and expanding.
Its development can, however, take place only in a social order called
the Islamic State. The Islamic State provides the ways and means for
the proper development and progress both of Body and Personality.
Since man is according to this concept of life, an integrated
composition of permanence and change, laws governing the social order
wherein his development takes place, should also be a combination of
permanence and change. This point has been elaborated beautifully by
Iqbal in his sixth lecture in the series on the Reconstruction of
Religious Thought in Islam. He says:
The ultimate spiritual basis of all life, as conceived by Islam, is
eternal and reveals itself in variety and change. A society based on
such a conception of Reality must reconcile, in its life, the
categories of permanence and change. It must possess eternal
principles to regulate its collective life; for the eternal gives us a
foothold in the world of perpetual change. But eternal principles when
they are understood to exclude all possibilities of change, which
according to the Quran is one of the greatest signs of God, tend to
immobilise what is essentially mobile in its nature.

Nawaz

Judaism In Islam! |

During my second year at New York University, I met a young girl also from a Jewish home who had decided to embrace Islam. As passionately interested in the Arabs as I was, she introduced me to many of her Arab and Muslim friends in New York. She and I attended the same class taught by a Jewish rabbi which was entitled "Judaism in Islam." The rabbi tried to prove to his students under the guise of "comparative religion" that everything good in Islam was borrowed directly from the Old Testament, the Talmud and the Midrash. Our text book (Judaism In Islam, Abraham I. Katsh, Washington Square Press, New York, 1954) written by this same rabbi set down the second and third Surahs of the Qur’an verse by verse, tracing their origins from alleged Jewish sources. Interspersed with this was a liberal sprinkling of Zionist propaganda in many films and colored slides glorifying the Jewish state. Ironically enough, instead of convincing me of the superiority of Judaism over Islam, this course converted me to the opposite view. Despite the fact that in the Old Testament, there are some universal concepts of God and high moral ideals as preached by the Prophets, Judaism has always retained its tribal, nationalistic character. Despite some noble idealism, the Jewish scripture is like a Jewish history book and their God a tribal god. The narrow-minded parochialism has found its modern expression (although in a thoroughly secular form) in Zionism. The Premier of Israel, David Ben-Gurion believes in no personal, super-natural God, never attends Synagogue, and observes no Jewish laws, customs or rituals yet he is considered, even by the most pious and orthodox of Jews, to be one of the greatest Jews of our times. Most Jewish leaders consider God as some super real-estate agent who parcels out land for their exclusive benefit! Zionism has made the worst aspects of modern Western materialistic nationalism its very own. Only such a philosophy of expediency and opportunism could justify in their minds such a ruthless campaign to exile the majority of Arabs and trample on the pitiful minority who remained in "Israel" and then style themselves as the bearers of "progress" and "enlightenment" to a "benighted" Arab world! Although "Israel's" scientific and technological development is superior, this material advancement combined with the most reactionary tribal, "chosen people" morality, I believe is a major threat to the peace of the world. I once heard Golda Meir address the United Nations General Assembly; "I oppose anybody who disputes Israel's right to security by retaining all Arab territories occupied by conquest. The only ethics that concerns us is the survival of Jewish people in the Jewish State!" (Never mind, Mrs. Golda Meir, about the survival, much less the well-being of any other people!)
Then too, I soon discovered that Jewish scholars nursed even more enmity towards the Prophet Muhammad than the Christians. The hypocrisy of reformed Judaism was equally unacceptable. Thus although of Jewish origin, I cannot identify my ideals and aspirations with the Jewish people. – By sister Maryam Jameelah (formerly Elizbeth Marcus), in 1961).
