  Why Halal and Haram
Posted by: Muslimah - 09-21-2013, 07:54 AM - Forum: Islam - No Replies

ALLAH SWT the Almighty created this magnificent and immaculate universe to favour HIS crowned creation, human beings. ALLAH SWT mentions in holy Quran,

“<span style="color:rgb(0,127,64);">And HE has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth – all from him. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought

[Al-Jathiyah 45:13].

By virtue of HIS wisdom ALLAH SWT has proclaimed many things comprised within this world as Halal (lawful) and few others Haram (unlawful) in order to assess our obedience towards HIM.

One of the objective of this earthly live is to being constantly examined.

Quran quotes, “<span style="color:rgb(0,127,64);">(HE) who created death and life to test you (as to) which of you is best in deed
” [Al Mulk 67:2].

Hence the one who complies with Halal and abstains from Haram in all his matters will succeed. Imam Bukhari narrated that Jundab (RA) said, “The first thing of the human body to purify is the abdomen, so he who can eat nothing but good food (Halal and lawful) should do so”.</span></span>

<span>Islamic rulings clearl
</span>y emphasize on Halal and Haram, albeit there are some matters that have not been categorized as legal or illegal. What is the way out then?

Narrated by An-Numan bin Bashir (RA): I heard ALLAHs Apostle PBUH saying, Both legal and illegal things are evident but in between them there are doubtful (suspicious) things and most of the people have no knowledge about them. So whoever saves himself from these suspicious things saves his religion and his honour. And whoever indulges in these suspicious things is like a shepherd who grazes (his animals) near the private pasture (hima) of someone else and at any moment he is liable to get in it. (O people!) Beware! Every king has a hima and the hima of ALLAH on the earth is HIS illegal (forbidden) things. Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoil the whole body gets spoils and that is the heart.

” (Bukhari).

This hadith enlightens us to refrain from doubtful matters. It also elucidates that the one who consumes unlawful, pollutes his blood that circulates to his heart resulting the heart being rendered corrupt and ultimately the whole body is ruined. There could be times when a person may not know the lawfulness of a particular thing as mentioned in the hadith “and most of the people have no knowledge about them”. He should then seek advice from a pious scholar. ALLAH the Merciful says,
“<span style="color:rgb(0,127,64);">So ask the people of the message if you do not know
” [Al-Anbiya' 21:7].</span>

We Muslims have a common tendency to be cautious about food and are casual about other matters concerning Halam and Haram. Sharia (Islamic law) has outlined rules pertaining to Halal and Haram in all religious and worldly affairs regarding food, drinks, clothes, marriage, business transactions, behavior towards others, private issues, or issues related to public, hunting, medication, festivals, living habits and so on and so forth.

In fact, one can say that Islamic rulings are mostly encompassing Halal and Haram thus making it complicated to elaborate what is lawful and what is not. Rather the following verses enlighten us …

ALLAH says, “Say, Who has forbidden the adornment of (i.e., from) ALLAH which HE has produced for HIS servants and the good (lawful) things of provision?. Say, They are for those who believe during worldly life (but) exclusively for them on the Day of resurrection. Thus do We detail the verses for a people who know. Say My Lord has only forbidden immoralities – what is apparent if them and what is concealed – and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with ALLAH that for which HE has not sent down authority, and that you say about ALLAH that which you do not know.”
[Al Araf 7:32-33]

Furthermore ALLAH the greatest instructs, “Say: Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. (He commands) that you not associate anything with HIM, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; WE will provide for you and them.

And do not approach immoralities – what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which ALLAH has forbidden (to be killed) except by (legal) right. This has HE instructed you that you may use reason.

And do not approach the orphans property except in a way that is best (i.e, intending improvement) until he reaches maturity. And give full measure and weight in justice.

We do not charge any soul except (with that within) its capacity. And when you speak (i.e., testify), be just (do justice), even if (it concerns) a near relative.

And fulfill the covenant (message) of ALLAH. This has HE instructed you that you may remember. And (moreover), this is MY path which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow (other) ways, for you will be separated from HIS way. This has HE instructed you that you may become righteous

” [Al Anam 6:151-153]

Peace to one and all,

To be a true believer who believes with/in Allah as the Creator/Lord/Sustainer of the Universe, His Messengers, Scriptures, Angels, the Last Day and Fate/Qadar, one must be identified with the following symbols and/or attributes:---

1. True believers walk on this earth with Modesty.

2. They utilize the night for Supplications... .Prostrating/Sujd an standing in prayer(s)/Tahajjud.

3. They love Peace.

4. They are neither wasteful nor miserly in spending their wealth.

5. They do not commit adultery.

6. They avoid testifying falsely.

7. They refrain from all kinds of Vanity.

We should endeavour to work towards getting these attributes in our everyday lives... make these values/attributes our habits.

For further reading on this, see

  Something On Sallah.
Posted by: Abu Hafsat - 09-15-2013, 09:29 PM - Forum: Islam - Replies (1)

Peace to one and all,

Narrated Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, I heard Allah's Apostle, peace and blessings be upon him, saying:--

"IF THERE WAS A RIVER AT THE DOOR OF ANYONE OF YOU AND HE TOOK A BATH IN IT

5 TIMES A DAY, WOULD YOU NOTICE ANY DIRT ON HIM?" They said, "NOT A TRACE OF

DIRT WOULD BE LEFT." The Prophet, peace be upon him, added,

"THAT IS THE EXAMPLE OF THE 5 PRAYERS WITH WHICH ALLAH BLOTS OUT (annuls) EVIL DEEDS".

[bukhari, Book 10, Hadith No.506].

In yet another Hadith, the Prophet, peace be upon him, was quoted as saying:-- "THE FIRST MATTER THAT THE SLAVE WILL BE

BROUGHT TO ACCOUNT FOR ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT IS THE PRAYER. IF IT IS SOUND, THEN THE REST OF HIS DEEDS

WILL BE SOUND. AND IF IT IS BAD, THEN THE REST OF HIS DEEDS WILL BE BAD". [At-Tabarani].

It is sad, however, to note that today many Muslims do not accord this important second pillar of Islam (Sallah) the importance and priority it deserves. You hear some say 'I am busy' or 'I have no time' to pray now (at its stated time)... I will pray later.

You/We must drop that attitude and say our Prayers on time and in congregation. We must also remember that what distinguishes us, Believers, from the Munafiqs (hypocrites) is the Sallah.... the 5 daily Prayers.

US pastor arrested with kerosene-soaked Korans
Posted by: Muslimah - 09-12-2013, 07:21 AM - Forum: Current Affairs - No Replies

http://en-maktoob.news.yahoo.com/us-past...16846.html

A controversial Florida pastor was arrested before he planned to burn almost 3,000 copies of the Koran on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, US media reported.

Terry Jones, 61, was detained in the town of Mulberry, near Tampa, and faces charges of transporting fuel illegally and openly carrying a firearm, the Orlando Sentinel said.

Deputies said Jones was riding in a pickup truck that was towing a trailer carrying a large barbecue-like grill filled with kerosene-soaked Korans. He also had extra bottles of the fuel inside the truck bed, the Sentinel reported.

Jones's planned public burning of the Muslim holy book came with tensions high in the Middle East, and with possible international military action in Syria still on the table having been touted by US President Barack Obama.

According to Jones's website, he had plans to burn 2,998 Korans in the Tampa Bay area on Wednesday, in recognition of victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Jones was arrested alongside Associate Pastor Marvin Sapp minutes before the scheduled burning, the Sentinel said.

As pastor of Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, Jones in 2010 threatened to burn copies of the Koran, drawing widespread outrage in the United States and abroad, before he called the plan off.

In 2011, however, his congregation did burn the Muslim holy book and the following year he promoted an anti-Islam film.

All three incidents sparked violence in the Middle East and in Afghanistan and came despite pleas from US military officials to desist.

  Guarding Our Tongue.
Posted by: Abu Hafsat - 09-05-2013, 04:37 PM - Forum: Islam - No Replies

Assalam alaikum,

Ibn Hibban and al-Baihaqi, may Allah be Merciful to them both, reported that Umar Ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said:--

"A person who talks too much is a person who often makes mistakes, and someone who

often makes mistakes often has wrong actions. The fire has a priority over such a frequent sinner".

In a related Hadith, on the authority of Mu'az, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:--

"Shall I not tell you how to control all that?" I said, "Yes do, O Messenger of Allah". So, he held his tongue

between his fingers and then he said: 'Restrain this'. I said, "Oh Prophet of Allah, are we accountable for

what we say?". He, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said, "May your mother be bereft by your loss! Is there anything

more than the harvest of the tongues that throws people on their faces (or he said 'on their noses') into the Fire?".

[at-Tirmidhi, al-Hakim]

What is meant by 'the harvest of the tongues' is the punishment for saying forbidden things. Through his actions and words, a man or a woman sows the seeds of either good or evil, and harvests same on the Day of Resurrection. We should therefore Note this well accordingly.

  Delightful Doors Of Sadaqah.
Posted by: Abu Hafsat - 09-01-2013, 02:04 PM - Forum: Islam - No Replies

Salaam everyone,

Abu Dhar al-Ghafari, may Allah be pleased with him, said:--"The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:-'Sadaqah is prescribed for every person every day the sun rises'. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, from what do we give Sadaqah if we do not possess property?' He said: 'The doors of sadaqah are takbir (Allahu Akbar), Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La-ilaha-illallah, Astaghfirullah, enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing thorns, bones and stones from the paths of people, guiding the blind, listening to the deaf and dumb until you understand them, guiding a person to his object of need if you know where it is, hurrying with the strength of your legs to one in sorrow who is appealing for help, and supporting the weak with the strength of your arms. These are all the doors of Sadaqah." [Ahmad]

In the light of this Noble Hadith, one does not need to have financial resources to earn the reward of sadaqah. There are many deeds to qualify as sadaqah with Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He. In addition to the above, the following courtesies are also sadaqah if we do them with the intention of pleasing Allah with them:--

1. Administering Justice between 2 people is sadaqah.

2. Assisting a man upon his mount, so that he may ride it is sadaqah.

3. Every step taken toward prayer... the Masjid..is sadaqah.

4. Your smile for your brother is sadaqah.

5. Planting anything from which a person, an animal or anything eats is sadaqah.

  What Do You Seek?

Salaam everyone,

According to Aflaki, in his "The Whirling Ecstasy":--

"He who seeks worldly wealth cannot dispense with commerce and profit;

he who seeks that of future life cannot dispense with obedience and service;

he who seeks the Master cannot avoid tests and suffering".

And,

"Supplication takes away shame, pride drives out religion. A greedy man has

the nature of the devil. Where greed enters, there follows identification; where

identification is produced, an obstacle is created; where an obstacle is interposed,

work is interrupted; where interruption occurs, there follows infidelity and hell-fire".
